I bought this for a 700 foot guest house (cottage) bedroom. I occasionally have guests that use it but mainly I store overflow clothing and household paper products out there, but keeping up with the humidity and mustiness of an unused space was problematic. I have a window unit in the main living area that couldn't keep up with the whole cottage. I had been considering a mini-split to replace the window unit but was waiting for a dual system to go on sale. Enter the enormous heat wave this summer, and I felt like I needed to just go ahead and do something in the meantime. This unit cools the ENTIRE cottage, without running the older unit I have in the main living area. I bought it after reading the reviews, even though I had never heard of the brand. It uses inverter technology and is much cheaper to run than others. Wifi works perfectly, it is extremely quiet, and as far as I can tell, it drains as intended. ... show more

Recently installed my Zafro inverter window unit and I am very pleased with it so far. Previously had the Midea but it was recalled due to mold issues and I received a full refund. So I decided to try the Zafro U shaped unit. I like the way this unit is configured v.s. The Midea but you must make sure the wall thickness is as required because there is no adjustment. The Zafro infringes less on your window view than Midea. In my experience it is quieter and the output air is several degrees cooler. ... show more

    • A great value for the money spent

I had never heard of the Zafro brand for window air conditioners and was hesitant to investigate further. However, after reading reviews of the more popular brands and comparing it's features with my needs, I decided to purchase the Zafro U-shape style with inverter and remote control. So far it has turned out to be a great choice. Installation was easy, though take note to protect the exposed fins on the external condenser of which I damaged. Also make sure to tilt the unit slightly back for proper water drainage as the instructions point out. Once operational, the unit is easy to control. The remote control and phone app are my preferences. The unit is very quiet and does a great job cooling the area down. I did find one slight negative to the unit. It has a "DRY" mode where the unit serves only as a dehumidifier to remove moisture from the air and thus reducing energy consumption. However, it does not have a humidistat to control indoor relative humidity at a set level. As a result, it must be cycled on and off periodically to achieve the desired humidity. I have no idea about it's reliability or durability. Time will tell that story. Otherwise, I think that this Zafro brand is a great value for the money spent. ... show more

Has two drains one in back(outside window) one in front ( inside window) I don't recall the description saying this or showing it in the picture.no drain hose we had to put a bucket under it.plus it has sssoooo much condensation on the unit that we eventually turned it off because it was running on the floor. ... show more

The question most people had in the reviews I read before purchase was "is this a true heat pump or does it utilize a heating element?" It definitely is a true heat pump... It looks like a super solid unit too... It is.. for sure super quiet. Way more quiet than a window AC.... Also, the biggest complaint I read in the reviews was the drain situation... It really isn't a deal breaker... I just bought a condensate pump (see photo)... The hose from the unit to the pump is a standard garden hose... Threads right on... Problem solved... Easy to install too... I'm not a big guy, and I was able to wrestle it into the window easy.... You will need a saw or knife to cut the insulation blocks it comes with... I gotta say... For a brand I've never heard of ... The fit and finish is top tier as well... Way more appealing than a window AC... hope this helps anyone who was skeptical.... ... show more
