- COMBINATION VISE: The Yost Vises 465 6.5-inch utility combination pipe and bench vise is made from a 30,000 PSI cast grey iron with a steel U-channel bar. Equipped with a large anvil work surface, it also has replaceable hardened steel serrated top jaws and a large permanent serrated pipe jaw.
- TECHNICAL SPECS: Jaw Width 6.5" (16.51 cm), Jaw Opening 5.5" (13.97 cm), Throat Depth 3.75" (9.525 cm), Min Pipe Capacity .125" (0.3175 cm), Max Pipe Capacity 2.5" (6.35 cm).
- SWIVEL BASE: 360-degree rotatable swivel base with 2 lockdowns
- HOW TO USE: Make sure vise is securely mounted to the workbench and the swivel base lock are secure. Open the vise by turning the vise handle counterclockwise. Place item between the serrated jaws. Close the vise by turning the vise handle clockwise until the item is snug in the serrated jaws, continue to tighten until you can no longer move item. Don't over tighten as this may damage item and or the vise. When finished working on the item, turn screw handle counterclockwise to release the item.

Simply put this is an extra large vice that is suitable to use for the largest project you can accomplish at your home. I would say vices this size are used to repair a diesel powered train. The anvil is good addition and it stands up to extreme hammering.

I installed the Yost vice on my workbench in the garage. See photo. I was worried it might be difficult to install because the front of my bench has a 10 inch deep border which might not accommodate a hex bolt installation. However, no worries because I simply used two long wood screws for the two front 1/2 inch holes filling part of those holes with rubber spacers. I used hex bolts on the back 2 holes. Not only does the vice work great, when I had questions about the installation, Yost called me in response to my email inquiry to assure I understood their input. Excellent customer service. Torque down handle is bad, bent The side screws that clamp the swivel part in place, do not sit flush against the frame. They stick out in the tight position and are hazardous.

Was a little worried it would be damaged in transit because it's so heavy, but it was packed very well from the factory and arrived in perfect shape. I can't speak to the longevity or durability b/c I just bought it, but this thing is built like a tank, opens/closes with a nice, smooth action and is even finished well (the paint is bright and uniform). I also bought the magnetic, rubber jaws for holding easily-scratched items and they work well. I had a little 4" vise I bought from Harbor Freight but it was just too small for some projects I do. This is quite a step up in size and quality. And with free shipping for something that weighs close to 50 pounds, you can't go wrong! Very happy so far. Can't see me breaking this any time soon but will re-review if it does.
