  • Problem Solved Great Product
Color: Twilight Grey
Our new house has some very high windows that take in a ridiculous amount of sunlight from late morning to afternoon. We have lots of beautiful pics from our travels on the wall and we wanted to protect them from fading in the sunlight. Originally we bought curtains for the 2 high sidelights and that helped a great deal, as there are windows below them as well, so we killed 2 birds with one stone. However, the middle high window is directly over the fireplace so a long curtain or even a short curtain for that matter didn’t work. When I saw these smart blinds that work with Alexa I thought they might be too good to be true. But after install you will see from my video that they work better than expected. Other than the tall ladder, the install was really simple as compared to the other 50+ smart items we have in our house. For me, the best part was not needing to connect them to a 3rd party app in order to connect them to Alexa. Before hanging them we made sure they were fully charged and connected them to Alexa with 1 easy step. Simply push the little button and hold for 6 seconds as the blinds cycle in and out quickly twice. After you see the curtain shimmy the second time you simply tell Alexa to discover your devices. It took just seconds. I also went into the Alexa app, renamed them and put them into a group called The Blinds. Once I got them installed into the opening I tested them with the remote. No problem. I then tested them individually with an Alexa command. I then tested the group. The only 2 challenges were getting the first blind the snap into the brackets. Pressing directly in front of the bracket helped as did moving the unit from side to side. Eventually it popped right in. Also 1 of the 3 blinds did not work initially with the Alexa command when tested. Although it worked with the remote and was listed in the devices in the Alexa app, Alexa kept saying that function was not available on the particular blind. Since the others were working fine I simply removed the device from Alexa, climbed the ladder and held the button for 6 seconds and 2 curtain shimmies, then did the Alexa discover my devices again. This time it connected and worked perfectly upon giving the command. They look much nicer than expected and I love the zebra mode that lets filtered light in when needed. They seem great and certainly do the job. Very impressed with this product. ... show more

  • Probably the best deal on shades you'll find anywhere
Color: Twilight Greyish White
Very happy with these shades. A few notes about my experience: Price: I think it's basically impossible to beat. The only comparable product is likely the IKEA FYRTUR roller blinds, but those are much more limited in terms of customization. Ordering: Fairly straightforward. The power and remote options can be a little confusing. Make sure your power type and remote are compatible. I chose a power type of "[P412] Remote Battery Motor" and a remote of "[P510]15-channels for (P412)," which I think is the bare minimum for everything to work. Quality: Very good. Highly recommend buying the "Yoolax Double Layer Zebra Shades Fabric Samples (10 Colors)" on Amazon beforehand. You'll get what you see. Installation: Easy once you know what you're doing, but I wish I knew a couple of things first. First, the instructions say not to break the paper seal around the shades until the very end. But I think that's wrong; as packaged, the bottom rod was actually near the top of the shade and blocked the mounting. I had to break the seal to move the bottom rod to the correct position. Customer service confirmed this was correct. Second, don't use the drywall anchors if you're drilling into wood, as you most likely are; a pilot hole and the bare screw are enough. Smart control: The Remote Battery Motor power type is primarily controlled using a remote. It is possible to control the Remote Battery Motor using a smartphone app or voice control, but it may require some technical expertise. I'm using a Sonoff RF Bridge with Tasmota and Portisch firmware in connection with Home Assistant, and it works perfectly, but it is definitely not for the average user. Setting up a Broadlink or Bond device might be easier, but I haven't tried it. The Smart Motor and [P426-US] Wifi Hardwired Motor power types might also be easier. However, the Smart Motor is out of stock and, even if it wasn't, you would need to add it to every shade and increase costs considerably if you order more than one. The Wifi Hardwired Motor requires an electrical cable, which is probably a nonstarter in terms of aesthetics. Customer service: Excellent. You can text Yoolax in China through WhatsApp, and their English is pretty good. I even did a quick video call with a Yoolax representative on WhatsApp, though I spoke Chinese. I was missing one of the mounting brackets in my order; not sure if they forgot to package it or if I misplaced it. Yoolax sent me replacements free of charge. ... show more

  • Incredible Looking Blinds, excellent customer service! Incredible Looking Blinds, excellent customer service!
Color: Twilight White
I purchased 6 of these blinds for a new sunroom I had built. The windows are very large. All of windows were 64X96, or larger. As you can imagine, the blinds were expensive because of how big they are. I was worried about making this purchase, especially if I spent this much money and they didn’t work out. It took me a few weeks to make the decision to go for it. I measured my windows, placed the order, and got my blinds within 3 weeks. I had a handyman to install. He reviewed the video, and had them all installed within 45 mins. The programming was my responsibility. Before programming, I realized the remotes do not come with batteries. The the batteries are not normal batteries that I could find at any local store. The battery, 3V(CR2430). I had to go to a specialty store, (Batteries Plus). If you are reading my post before your blinds arrive, you can order online before your blinds arrive. Once I got the battery, I put them in the remote. (Word of caution about the remotes. When you open the remote be careful. The zigbee remote is a small black, sleek looking remote. Very cute, but hard to open the first time to get to the battery. The problem, the plastic seals the front and back together where they snap together. I literally had to go around the the seal with an x-acto blade where the to parts came together. Not a hard task, easy fix. Once I got into my first remote I snapped it open and everything fell out because I had it upside down. I literally had to reconstruct the remote. Not hard, very visibly easy to figure out where every thing fit into the remote. After which, I put my battery in, and snapped it back together). Programming the remote was not necessary. Once the battery was in, I realized the blinds were already programmed. Each blind on one of the fifteen channels in the remote. I purchased two. remotes. Blinds looked awesome, except one blind. Unfortunately I measured the door length incorrectly. I was going to live with it by lowering the blind. I really didn’t want to. So I took a chance to reach out to Yoolax about a replacement (their policy is no returns, due to the custom sizing). I expected them to tell me that there would be nothing they could do. To my surprise, they immediately responded, and stated the would send me a replacement shade the length that I needed, also they provided me a video of how to change out the shade on the rod. I received the replacement in two weeks. If you are on the fence about making a decision to purchase these blinds, I hope I helped you to go for it. These blinds are worth every penny I spent on them. The company that installed my sunroom, will be offering this suggestion to their future customers. FYI, I’m a real person, and I’m not paid by anyone. I normally never write reviews, but this product and the customer service I received, I had to share my experience. I’m a very happy customer. ... show more

  • Fantastic Blinds with a Few Considerations Fantastic Blinds with a Few Considerations
Color: Twilight Matte White
(The background noise is my kid scavenging through the pantry. The shades are very quiet!) We've been enjoying these blinds for over 6 months, and they've proven to be a fantastic addition to my home. Here's a breakdown of my experience: **Pros:** 1. **Stylish Design:** Beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, enhancing both interior and exterior looks. 2. **Cost-Effective:** Remarkably more affordable than alternatives from Home Depot/Lowes. We paid about $2k in comparison to HDs $5k quote. 3. **Effective Sunlight Control:** Shades effectively block 90% of sunlight. 4. **Long-Lasting Motor:** Impressive motor life with just one overnight charge. 5. **Easy Installation:** Straightforward installation process. 6. **Remote and Smart Home Integration:** Accessible through a remote or voice commands via Alexa/Google. 7. **Fast Delivery:** Received custom shades within a month. 8. **Custom Measurements:** Tailored to fit various window sizes. 9. **Responsive Customer Service:** Helpful and responsive customer support. **Cons:** 1. **Additional Purchase Required:** Need to buy a hub or Alexa Echo with Zigbee for full functionality. 2. **Limited Options for Non-Motorized Blinds:** Lack of readily available non-motorized blinds makes it challenging to match all windows seamlessly. Overall, these blinds offer great value for money, providing an elegant solution for light control. While the need for an extra purchase and limited non-motorized options are drawbacks, the positives far outweigh the negatives. Highly recommended for a stylish and functional home upgrade. ... show more

  • A product that makes it so close it hurts, it hurts your wallet for what you get. Updated. A product that makes it so close it hurts, it hurts your wallet for what you get. Updated.
Color: Twilight White
Every now and then you stumble into a product that "seems" to meet all your expectations, and yet when you get the product you end up skimming the line to just send it back and cut your loses, this is such a product. And the reason it hurts is there are no good, down to the point instructions on how to effectively program the product, and as of this moment after viewing all available videos from the manufacturer on YouTube even for multiple models, I was finally able to piece together how to match the remote (and it's not how the intended video for the product shows, there is a necessary double press not indicated in the video), set high and low limits (by mere chance), and forget about setting a middle stop, let alone connect to an app for voice control or advanced programming. As of now I am reluctantly keeping the two I bought to test before buying all 15 for the entire home, and I'm glad I tried them first, it would have been an apocalyptic nightmare to deal with the idea of having to go through this with 15 of them. As it stands now, I won't buy the rest. Now, don't get me wrong, the product may well be in the process of being finally developed to a point where it would work as described, but as of today (2020/01/27), purchasing the "Hub" for voice control is not even an option indicating instead "not required", yet getting these things into pairing mode or a WiFi signal has eluded yours truly, a former IT supervisor who knows how to follow instructions, how to write them, delucidate errors within instructions, and even as in this case piece together bits of information from multiple sources to get some functionality to incipiently work. The product may well be capable of connecting and work as expected/described, but believe it or not (not that I care anymore), as of this moment, I don't really know if what I have is Bluetooth, WiFi or an older version of the product sent by error. During the last functioning 12 hours of my life I have been able to piece together that there were previous versions of these motors that had different options for connectivity, and it seems this might be a finalized version with all the bells and whistles given it has options to reverse direction (press up, it goes down), and even operating modes such as long press the remote to activate full motion with small steps per press, or just press to activate full motion right away. And yes, I found that out by stumbling into these functions through trial and error, not because anything indicated to them. Twelve hours, no connectivity, not even clear on whether or not the offered "hub" may be required, and mixed messages from user manual versus manufacturer videos on YouTube. I am keeping them as simple, non WiFi or Bluetooth connected devices. Like I said, so close it literally hurts! For what is worth, they look nice, if a bit noisy for the price. Beware also about the small print on the manual, I had to use a loupe and still figure out what some of the words were given the size of the print is so small, you end up drilling it down to botches of ink on the images in your search for where the problem may be. Oh, almost forgot, the remote in the printed manual is different from the remote you purchase separately, which by the way, comes without dedicated instructions explaining for instance that channel 0 controls all of them at the same time, while channels 1-15 allow for individual control conceding you actually manage to program them in the first place, and programming of limits. The enclosed image is a veritable snipet of what awaits you should you buy. The written instructions tell you to get the app named "Smart Life", while the image shows you an app named "TuyaSmart". Needless to say the remotes are radically different. Should you have the temerity to buy, I sincerely wish you the best of luck. Update: to add insult to injury, after having asked a public question regarding programming the product as a smart product, my question ended up REMOVED after I requested a public link to a manual/instructions that would be helpful for other potential buyers. CLEARLY these people ARE not interested in helping, but rather in shoving the issue under the rug. Here's my advice: consider where they come from, and DON'T BUY. Update: after making these run by sheer miracle, motors started to run at different speeds. When installed they ran together, limits were set for both upper and lower positions and the blinds would start and stop at the same time. Over time however, on motor started running slower, and I thought it might be time to recharge it. Left it run for a couple of weeks without recharging them, and finally charged them yesterday. No, the motors continue to run at different speeds and as it stands now, I somewhat expect one of them to die anytime soon. I will reiterate my advice, stay away from this overpriced piece of junk or any of the products named by these incompetent company. Other names are Yoolax, Soluna and Dooya. Same junk, different stench. ... show more

  • Stupid simple and really cool!
Color: Twilight Wool Black
Reading the reviews I was a little concerned because it sounded like you could have a hard time with these blinds. But my boss (wife) decided this was what she wanted so… Just measure carefully. I needed inside mount. I have brand new windows and they are nice deep boxes and I measured them exactly. The web form lets you put in precise measurements. I got the valence and the suggested remote bc I didn’t want to use phone or Alexa to run the blinds. Of course, I screwed up and accidentally ordered charcoal when I needed a different color. Luckily I realized it when I got confirmation mail and reached out. Hey responded quickly and it was resolved without issue. Blinds came quickly. Instructions were super clear and precise. I was worried this might be a machine translated kind of deal from China, but they were clear and concise instructions that were easy to understand. One reviewer made some noise about the remote not having an esoteric battery. Mine had the button cell installed with clear instructions to pull the plastic to activate it. Instructions said to charge the blind batteries. One arrived fully charged, the other needed a bit to charge. USB C, no big deal and took no time. Installation was monkey simple. You just need to mount two brackets with one screw each and click the blind into it. I will say there’s a cardboard strap that say remove after installation that I removed as I was installing because the counterweight (that keeps tension on the bottom of the blind as the electric motor raises and lowers it) was keeping me from clicking the blind onto the bracket. The remote is a little bit of a learning curve but with a very little bit of trial and error it works beautifully. I mounted two blinds. The remote will run many more. It was preprogrammed for my measurements and took my two blinds right to the lower length they needed to be at immediately. And straight back up to full open without fiddling. I’m going to delve a little deeper tomorrow with the remote, but seriously it took me waaaay longer to write this review than it did to unbox, charge and mount these window blinds. ... show more
