  • These work Great! Install has some considerations - Points to Ponder
Color: Fabric-smokey Grey
I ordered these window shades because we needed something over our new windows and new kitchen remodel but didn't want to take away from the clean lines with a lot of overpowering window dressing. if you got to look at the big box stores, motorized blinds end up being quite higher than these turned out to be, which is why we risked doing this via Amazon. Risk so far was unfounded! I have some details and points to ponder: 1) we ordered the sample swatch kit to help make a decision on fabric for the shade. Don't be dismayed when you order this - and it says you will receive it in a month. Not the case. ordered the sample kit and it was here in three days. so that accelerated our ability to order. 2) when you provide measurements - make sure and follow their naming conventions in the ordering sections. they have a format they want it in. the edge of the housing on the shade is about half inch on the motor side and about 1/4 inch on the other. 3) within the sections for the custom measurements and features you want - there are a few extras to consider. one is the type of remote. i went with the 15 channel and the battery pack shades. you DO NOT need a remote with each blind, one will rule them all or individually. i did get two remotes as we may get more of these for other areas of our house. but one would control up to 15 or 16. will also work with Alexa or Google via their devices coupled with a smart outlet if you chose. i didn't choose that as i didn't want these to be plugged in all the time. 4) we chose inside mount on our windows, and not outside/wall mount to avoid the holes that get done over and over for different window treatments on the walls. CONSIDER THIS - the brackets only hold the shade from the top - not the sides. so if you intend to affix to the side of the jamb you cannot. in our case, i did have to make a modification to the spring loaded brackets. the picture of the bracket with my hand shows that our jamb is too shallow to use the hole in the top of the bracket. and the other holes would have drilled into the window casing itself, so that was problematic. i drilled a hole in each back further on the top - between the two springs, making sure not the obstruct the slide of the clip that grabs the blind. took about 5 minutes to drill out six brackets. 5) if you have a window that is set into a wall well, such as the picture of the smaller window with the plants above, when you MEASURE - be sure to take the smaller of the two measurements between where the blind will actually sit and the outer edge of the wall box. mine was JUST a hair too long to just insert the blind. i had to angle it and then get it into the window area where it would sit, then tap it up into place. My fault - but it worked. just have some touch up on the inside of the wall. 6) you have the option to order a usb cord (5 or 6 foot) when customizing your blinds for charging. that would be extra and unneeded as please know that EACH BLIND you order will have a cord with it. it DOES NOT come with a charging block. any block will work. 7) my shades seemed to be charged almost fully when i received them. states to charge for 10 hour then you'll get 3-6 mos use between charging depending on use. will update on that when i get there 8) Remote does NOT come with the "watch" sized battery needed to run it. they are CR2450s. 9) my blinds seemed to be pre-programmed to the remote with positions already. pretty straightforward. and works really well. has an upper and lower setting you can program to for an automated open and shut level if you wish. you can control each separately or all of them at once (Channel 0) 10) Installation consideration - make sure you go in from end of blind about 5 inches or so if you can. it's easier to get the blind latched up into the clip. they are spring loaded, you put the back side edge of the casing into the clip on each end, and push in - they move back under spring load so you can then get the front side up and into the stationary clip and it is that easy. 11) i chose the weighted rod at the bottom. this is a must have in my opinion. five bucks a blind i think that was 12) you can choose which side the motor is on on each of your blinds. that does not however make a difference on the profile of the blind, only that the receiving wire and charging port are at that end. tuck the wire behind the shade and its invisible. (it's about 3 inches long) 13) SHIPPING - when you order your blinds - you will get a shipping date of arrival a month out. i figured that would hold true since they are custom made. however we got them in 7 days. 14) if you're ordering multiple shades/blinds, and you receive them and open, mine came in multiple boxes. only one will have your installation instructions if you ordered them at the same time on the same order. although when i thought they had no instructions because i hadn't opened all the boxes, looking at the mounting hardware (wood screws with sheetrock anchors) and then the bracket - you really don't need any for mounting instructions if you've installed window treatments before. All in all - i was worried about custom blinds and if the measurements translated right - and i was pleased. they fit exactly as i had hoped. These are not cheap blinds, but they are more cost effective than their counterparts at the home improvement stores, which in my research could end up being 1/3-2/3 more expensive than these. giving these a 4 out of five for NOW. reasons being that the mounting brackets aren't as universal as they could be(could have additional mounting holes for different jamb depths) and the fact that i cannot comment on battery life yet. ... show more

  • Works very well after learning its quirks!!
Color: Foggy Grey
This product definitely works as advertised, and has a high quality look/feel to it. I'm in Vegas, and the solar panel works very well even during the winter! Never had it run out of charge despite opening/closing multiple times per day. A couple things - on the Echo 4.0, you need to say "Alexa, close/open window **to XX%**". If you don't say the XX% part, it doesn't work. In setting the top and bottom limits, the system can get confused, and the shades start only going up/down an inch at a time. But once you set the limits successfully, this problem resolves. ... show more

  • Does not work with shown Alexa's
Color: Linen Beige
Update: Issue was resolved to my satisfactions! First arrived with brackets having rust, (see photo), then would not integrate with Alexa or Google nest. Even the Yoolax app needs a hub. After hours and days they asked for a image of my lexa EchoPlus 2nd Gen, that is shown as one of the direct connect to Alexa in the product description, this is the response. Hello, Dear Darrell Good day. EchoPlus 2nd Gen couldn't connect with alexa directly. Hope for your understanding. Echo Show (2nd Gen) could, here is Echo Show (2nd Gen) purchase link: https://www.amazon.com/Echo-Premium-smart-display-Alexa/dp/B077SXWSRP We suggest to return your EchoPlus 2nd Gen and then buy echo 4th gen. Here is echo 4th gen: https://www.amazon.com/All-New-Echo-4th-Gen/dp/B07XKF5RM3 Thanks and regards. Yoolax team View this message on Amazon ... show more

  • Great shade, tricky brackets, excellent customer service
Color: Fabric-dark Grey
I’ve had this shade for four months. It is in my bedroom, so I use it daily. I wanted a motorized blackout shade for my bedroom, and this one looked good and was reasonably priced. I decided to buy one and see how good it was before getting a second one for another room. Overall, the shade is very good. The material looks nice and it blocks the light well. The remote's basic functions work fine. (I haven't tried its timer features.) The motorized operation works well, and the battery lasts a long time. I had some issues with the mounting hardware and the light blocking brackets, but the company has been extremely helpful in addressing those concerns. I'll see how things go for a few months, but I'll likely buy a second shade for my office. Tips / Lessons Learned: I'd describe the process of mounting the shade as tricky rather than difficult. Mine was about 5 feet wide. It's not very heavy, so I could handle it alone. They included four metal brackets, and they even included screws with drywall anchors. I was mounting into a wood casing, so I used the screws without the anchors. Installing the brackets was simple in that I just had to drill a pilot hole and screw them into the casing. The tricky part is that the brackets are designed to clamp onto the edge of the metal shade housing with tiny (maybe 1/16”) spring-loaded hooks. One has to be careful to ensure the brackets are aligned properly. I found it difficult to get the hooks to clamp on to the shade, and it's hard to tell if it's securely attached. The shade has crashed to the floor twice. The last time it left a big divot in the wood windowsill. That was frustrating, but upon reflection, I think most of the blame for that rests on me. I made an adjustment to the brackets and I think it's more secure now. Despite falling twice, it still works, so props to them for durability. I do think they could come up with a more foolproof mounting solution. Take your time to get the edges of the brackets to be flush and be careful to get all the hooks to engage. It may help to have a second person when doing that. I had to do it alone. The second issue is some light bleeding around the sides and bottom of the shade. I ordered the plastic side brackets that are supposed to help block the light around the sides. They come with self-adhesive magnetic strips to mount them on the window casing. Before I do that, I’m using painters tape to test different positions of them. They do help block some light. I got white ones to match my window casing. I realized the white surface may be reflecting more light, so I tried putting some black gaffer's tape on the inside of a section. It made a noticeable difference (see photo). I'll do that to both brackets. Any remaining light bleeding from the sides should be negligible, and I may add curtains that would block any remaining light on the sides. Maybe I measured the length wrong for the bottom, but the shade doesn't reach the windowsill. Either way, the company is sending me another bracket for the bottom that should take care of that. Again, if I add curtains, this won't be an issue. ... show more
