    • These are good sturdy notebooks, but like any strong cardboard, they can't take abuse.

we use these to carry outside to write data in - some days are hot, some freezing, some windy. These hold up well. My only issue was with shipping. They were sent in a thin plastic envelope and during shipment they got bent. But I contacted Amazon, and they are replacing the damaged notebooks free of charge. UPDATE - I just received the replacement notebooks as promised. I had asked the amazon associate to please put a note to shipping to put them in a box or at least use some padding. They came in the same thin plastic envelope with no padding. One notebook is bent, and the corners are crushed. These are great notebooks, especially for using outdoors while walking. However, I can't recommend ordering them. I researched and found that to reduce packaging materials, amazon is going by how much the item weighs as to how they package it for shipping. These don't weigh enough to warrant a box or padding, so there is nothing to keep them protected. ... show more

The cover is fairly sturdy, not the strongest I've ever seen but it should be enough for most people's purposes. The rings have a nice solid snap to them, stay firmly shut and shouldn't have any problem holding up even with several pages' worth of weight on them. The inside of both covers have two sleeves for holding papers each. These inner sleeves are made of relatively soft plastic and I don't think I'd trust them to support much weight for long, but if you just want them to hold a page or two, they'll work okay. Unfortunately the one I received is a completely different color: it isn't cyan but a deep vivid turquoise (which my phone completely failed to capture). My other gripe is that whoever grades these doesn't seem to understand what a binder sleeve is. I got mine in "Used - Very Good" condition with the description "Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged." But there was no packaging--the binder itself has gouges in the cover as if someone stabbed it with a pair of scissors. The worst one (pictured) is big enough to stick your finger in. The damage extends through the clear sleeve and into the solid part underneath. The price difference makes sense now, but if I'd known the binder was this badly damaged I would've bought one new. ... show more

I bought this to replace a binder I purchased at a local big box retailer. The one I had before was flimsy and the rings kept opening, allowing papers to fall out. This one has been so much better. The rings actually stay closed. I don’t have to worry when I retrieve it from my messenger bag.

I wanted some binders this size into which I could put document protectors. I also wanted transparent covers and spine so I could slide in titles. These looked like they could do the job. They are doing job. I all worked out. On ring binders, the weak point are often the weak link. The rings and their operation are strong and function well. I expect to last. I thought the color would be a lighter blue. These were a little darker than I expected, but not so much that I elected to use them anyhow. Colors are sometimes difficult to get accurate in pictures. I love the durability of these binders!! I will not buy another one from the dollar store after buying these and seeing how different they are. The dollar store binders might last a week and they are tearing up these have stayed intact and I love the d ring with the locks very nice.
