  • A must have in your camera bag.
Style: Single
I love this little lens on a full frame camera, especially for street walks. It's easy to use, light weight and works incredibly well. The versatility of the lens and quality of it is a good value.

  • Works well, from an old camera vet. Not crazy amazing, but pretty damn good for the price.

Color me impressed. The other reviews aren't lying. This isn't a quiet lets, it's not a wonderful lens, but it's a good lens. I've done photography as a professional for over 12 years now and owned several canon lenses in this range including both 35 1.4L's, and the old 35 f2 Canon. I used this lens paired with an older 5d Mark III for a wedding a few weeks ago, and did a lot of the getting ready photos with it. The bride absolutely loved the image quality that came out of it from the photos she selected, and it worked really well. No it wasn't super fast like an L series lens, and yes it's a little noisy, but it's perfectly usable and gives great results. For anyone looking for a slightly wider 50mm, I can vouch for the quality from this lens. I think it will be perfect as a walk around PJ type lens for my older 5d Mark III. ... show more

  • Great addition - noisy autofocus
Style: Single
Let me preface this by saying I’m a long time Canon user and do it for professional shoots. Most likely, if you’re getting this, it’s for a cropped frame so it isn’t a TRUE 35mm, more like a 50mm so be weary of that. But if you’re just getting into cameras, it’s a GREAT step above the kit lens. You’re stuck on a one focal length so it’ll teach you how to work around cramped areas. And for the price and you get F2.0, actually insane. Not to compare apples to oranges but the Canon 50mm is great too. BUT again, cropped frame makes it more like 85mm which is really tight for just a normal shoot. Writing this review because I would choose this over the 50mm as a starter because of how much wider it gets. I love what it can do and how much it taught me. Only bad thing about this (hence the 4 star) is that its autofocus is loud. Depending on the setting you’re using it for (especially if you’re doing video) you’ll hear it for sure. Mine finally broke after a couple of years so it lasted a while, would’ve lasted longer if I didn’t drop it LOL. Needless to say, the build quality is a bit questionable but as always, you get what you pay for, the quality of photos isn’t diminished so still does the job. ... show more

  • One of the Best Bang for Buck Canon Lens
Style: Single
The media could not be loaded. I have been using this lens for a few days now after purchasing it, and I think it is excellent. It is small/lightweight and the autofocus works well. The 2.0 aperture really pulls out the depth of field capture of my Canon Rebel SL3, and paired with a Neutral Density filter this lens is excellent. The video stabilization is solid, and the image quality is very good for the price of the lens. I will say that the retracting/extending plastic ring that pulls in and out of the lens while the autofocus goes feels very cheap, and is a slightly loose fit. It works 100% fine and it is the price you pay for an exceptional lens for just over 100$. ... show more

  • Doesn't work with Rebel 2000, camera support is unclear
Style: Single
My review based on using it solely with a Canon 5D Mark IV: For the price, this lens is not terrible. Picture quality is very sharp and is on par with Canon EF lenses. But the build quality is not, however. The lens cap pops off very easily, sometimes just from placing it in my camera bag. There's lots of play in the housing of the lens. The plastics are cheap. I haven't used it much for these reasons, so I can't really speak to how well it holds up to heavy use. My guess is not very well. After trying it with a Canon EOS Rebel 2000: This lens simply does not work. My Canon EF lenses all seem to work just fine with this camera. This one seats fine, the VF and AF work fine, no issue setting the f-stop. But I click the shutter, and it stays open and the camera display says the battery is dead. I'm not even halfway through my first roll on these batteries, so there's no way they're actually dead. I open the battery compartment and close it, the camera comes back to life with full batteries, and the shutter closes. I googled the issue and other Rebel 2000 users have experienced the same thing. Conclusion: A good value lens if it works with your camera, but it may not. Consult Yongnuo's website before you buy to see if your camera is supported. As it turns out, neither of my cameras is! But it does work with my DSLR. Its failure to support an EF film camera means it's not a true EF lens. ... show more

  • O-some lens!
Style: Single
Can't go wrong with this super cheap lens. Focus might not be perfect, but over all, good color and sharpness + bokeh out of this very budget friendly lens. Make me feel comfortable & confident with my shots. Very suitable for portraits on cropped sensor.

  • Decent lens for price
Style: Single
I was searching for a 35mm lens to add to my collection and didn’t have a massive budget. I decided to take a chance on this one, and wasn’t that impressed. For reference, I shoot with the canon 70d. First, this little lens has the noisiest autofocus sound I’ve ever heard with a lens. I was definitely not expecting that. I thought I would get used to it, but as I used it over a few days the sound continued to bother me. Not excessively so, but if you were shooting somewhere that required silence/quiet, you’d hear this lens every time it focused. Second, it had some severe focusing issues when paired with my camera body. This may not be the case with every body+lens combo, but this problem made the lens almost unusable to me as it would miss the focus on 90% of the shots. This obviously poses a huge problem if shooting a one time event, or even just in everyday photography. I did my best to manually calibrate it, which helped some, but the focus plane changed when the camera was held horizontally or vertically. The lens itself seems to be sturdily built, and is pretty light weight. I would have returned to Amazon had I not missed the return window. However, the photos that were in focus came out beautiful and tack sharp. The quality is great for the price of the lens. ... show more
