This lens is superb for the price. I'm not going to get into the technical details, but shooting with it is very fun. All the sample shots I uploaded were shot wide open for reference. 2 of the darker ones were in a fairly dark room with 1 window with its blinds closed. The other two were also indoors, with all blinds closed and the only real light coming through a sliding glass door. Of course the lens performs even better outdoors and stopped down a bit. Autofocus was fast and literally silent. Lens is plastic, but well made and feels like all the modern FF native lenses these days. The AF/MF switch is a bit mushy, but clickly and tight (you won't accidentally switch it). Manual focus barrel is nice and smooth, zero play, and good resistance. Comes with a metal lens hood attached, and I don't believe you can remove it. I have tried twisting it pretty good and it didn't budge. Has popular 52mm thread for your filters. And best part at least for me is that it can focus extremely close (about 3-4 inches from subject). Another reviewer mentioned that they weren't able to use their mechanical shutter with these lens. I had zero issues on my Panasonic GF3, G100, GX85 and Olympus Pen P-EM1, E-P5, E-M5, Pen F, and now it primarily stays on my E-M1 because it's the perfect size and weight for that body, and the orange/red markings on it perfectly matches the orange/red record button on the camera. ... show more

    • Fast, quiet autofocus in photo and video mode.
I am very impressed with this lens' autofocus performance. In video mode it's silent and focus transitions are smooth and quick. Optical performance is also very good, especially for the price. On a Micro Four Thirds body, it's a 34mm equivalent field of view...a great standard walkabout lens. It isn't the sharpest lens out there but for the price...it's hard to complain.

I can only speak for my own experience but for the shooting I've been doing with it I love the pictures the colors and the sharpness. But a big plus is the compact size of it because I like travel photography. Can't beat the price for the quality especially because it's a 1.7 aperture in a prime lens. ... show more

    • I regret buying this lens.
Inspired by online reviews, especially by people who review equipment, I purchased this lens. I took a few pictures indoors and I was unimpressed, so I went to the beach with my wife and took a few more pictures, nothing artistic but just to get to know the lens. Even in the viewfinder of the camera I could already get a sense of how ordinary this lens is. Everything seems flat and the colors get washed out. I had to choose enhancements within the camera to saturate the colors more. Anything that I shoot with this lens is probably going to need post processing to be acceptable. I have MFT lenses by Panasonic, Panasonic/Leica, and Olympus. Some were low priced, others were premium lenses. This lens leaves me wanting to replace it with a better brand, and I am sorry that I bought it. ... show more

This lens single handled revived my mft shooting. Sharper than i expected at all apertures. Handles flare SURPRISINGLY WELL. If you shot mft... This should be your normal lens. My only gripe is the non removable lens hood and it not being water proof. Yongnuo... We need to talk.
