This is a decent fake fireplace. It doesn't look as realistic as my other one, but ir is cheaper so that's probably as expected. The "logs" and flame glow the same color so that was unexpected and kind of lame, which contributes to the fakeness. Heat output is decent. I'm using it in a huge valued ceiling room and it absolutely works for supplemental heat in the room when the house is set to 65. Overall this fireplace gets 4.5 out of 5 stars for me and my experience. I built a faux mantle with built-ins for this item based on a previous entertainment center that was in the same spot that had an electric fireplace. the item says that it is 24.5" x 19.3", so I made my opening 24 5/8" x 19 1/2", which would have worked perfectly if I would have known that the cord came out of the side of the unit. The cord is a thicker gauge due to the unit supporting 1500W power, so I had to take another 1/2" x 2" notch out of the frame where the cord is located. I also had to take the rubber feet off of the unit to make it fit in the 19.5" opening, however, that was an easy task. Once those modifications were made, the unit fit in rather easily. Once I got it in and secure the frame that hides the screws is what provided the biggest challenge. The frame will not slide into place if the unit sits flush to a wall because the outer edge of the frame is thicker than the inner edge of the frame. I was able to get the frame on temporarily but will need to make my own frame to make it look complete. As far as the flame goes' I really like the blue/orange mix; however, I saw many complaints about how realistic it looks. In my opinion, this is an electric fireplace, and I can't really expect it to look just like a real flame. My last electric fireplace was over $700 and looked less realistic than this one. finally, the remote is great to have; however, it can be a little cumbersome to get figured out. Plus, you have to keep in mind that there is no way to know what the heat setting is unless the front door is open to see the temperature. I would have paid more for a smarter remote that said what the temperature setting was. ... show more

The only issue I have with this unit is that the remote control works, but you can not see what the settings are actually on unless you leave the metal door open in front, which takes away from the look of this fireplace.

    • Nice Electric Fireplace Insert
The unit is nice and easy to operate and we like the "quality and look" of the simulated fire. The heat output is as one would expect from any 15 amp circuit capable electric heating appliance. The only complaint we have is that the remote is on the same "frequency" as our VIZIO TV and when you turn on the fireplace, the TV starts up and changes to the wrong input. This is a quirk that is a bit annoying, but probably no way to have known about that or seen that coming. ... show more
