This is a sturdy enough setup for softwood stacking, or aluminum stock. The arms aren't hinged, but you can lift and remove them from the slots. For the tall configuration you might find that the uprights aren't stiff enough since they are mde up of two uprights lightly screwed together.     • Will work as described, but…..
The item was described accurately except for the extra extension where the standards slip into each other. It was described that it is a versatile unit, which can be used as three separate shelves, but if you choose to do that, four of the standards will have a piece sticking out at top or bottom where it is supposed to slip into one of the other standards. Visually, if using as three separate shelves, will not be as clean as if using as one standard. ... show more

    • Decent but not great
Will it hold 100 lbs per rack? Probably not. I am a hobbyist woodworker and needed lumber storage in my shop. The racks are mounted to a very sturdy wall. The verticle shelf rails are decent and will hold the weight just fine. The brackets that hold the wood..... well those I do not see holding up nearly as much as advertised. I have mine loaded up and they're wanting to sag quite a bit. Really didn't want to have to make or purchase a more bulky wall system but I just might have to.     • Cheap, flimsy arm supports
It’s fine if your using it for individual piece’s of wood for paint or stain drying, fairly useless for storage as the arms bend after only a couple pieces of wood.

    • For light lumber or other storage
There are several possible configurations with this wood organizer including creating shelves and using as adjustable shelving. Installation is straight-forward and highly recommend using a level or other technique to ensure even installation. Hold 100 pounds? Possibly with strong, sturdy, attachment points (not remotely going to happen with only drywall anchors) and spreading the weight across enough of the arms. It’s not a limit I’m willing to test and won’t be an issue for my use but would recommend testing if this is a critical feature for you. This really isn’t a heavy-duty product. Each arm is 14” long without hooks at the end so you may extend a little beyond if needed. Overall, this is a good organizer for lumber, as a way to create adjustable shelves (there are 2 holes in each arm allowing for wood attachment to create shelves), or for other items where this kind of organizer would work. ... show more

Light duty wood storage. Does the job, but I worry about over taxing the arms. I’d hate to wake up one day to a pile of bent metal and splintered wood. Ok if you’re planning on only using it for light items. Honestly, would recommend something sturdier for the money. Overall, it’s ok. 3 stars.

Following what seems to be the industry standard, the claims of heavy duty do not hold up. They are already sagging with about half the claimed weight capacity on them, which really does not inspire confidence. If you have some light stuff to put on these racks they'll probably work fine, but these are not for heavy duty use and don't meet the claims they make for weight capacity safely. ... show more
