I had not used a French press before but I thought I’d give it a try to see if it made any difference in the flavor of my coffee - and it definitely did. I like my coffee dark and strong, and the French press gives me the most control over how much coffee and water I use to get the perfect balance (stronger, in my case). Of course, the flavor is also dependent on the purity of the water and the type, quality, and grinding of the coffee beans. The instructions were generally clear, except that I had to make some metric conversions, which wasn’t difficult. I followed the instructions exactly, but my first cup was a little weak. It took me several attempts to get the calibration of coffee, water, and temperature just right, as well as the time to let the coffee steep before pressing and pouring. So, while the instructions clearly explain how to use the press, you’ll have to experiment with the volumes to get everything just right for your own taste. One more point about the instructions. There are instructions printed on the side of the box, as well as on a little pamphlet inside the box. The two sets of instructions are complementary, that is, there are certain instructions printed on the box that are not in pamphlet, and vice versa. Together they provide a full set of instructions for handling, brewing and cleaning the press. I don’t know why all the instructions couldn’t be printed on the pamphlet for easier reference because I’ll be recycling the cardboard box the press was shipped in. The press is a little over 7” high with a diameter of about 4”. The glass is thick, strong and well protected by a metal frame and handle. The glass is dishwasher-safe, and can be removed from the metal frame by loosening a single screw. The press comes with a sponge on a handle for cleaning, so using a dishwasher is overkill. There are pros and cons to the glass. For me, the pros are that it looks classier than ceramic or metal, and I can see how dark the coffee is before I pour it. The negative is that it’s not as well insulated as stainless steel, so some heat escapes while the coffee is steeping. However, five or ten seconds in the microwave can return the heat without affecting the flavor. It comes with a small scoop, cleaning sponge, two reusable metal filters (screens) installed, and another set of two in the box. I haven’t used the second set, which I’m saving as a replacement set, but both sets could be used together for even greater filtration. Finally, the instructions recommend using a “wooden or plastic utensil” to gently stir the coffee, but packaging one with the press would have been convenient and appreciated. The press is reasonably priced and a good value overall.

This is my first french press coffee maker and I’m loving it. It is easy to use and I have no problem making a cup of coffee using it. The material of this french press is well made and it is also easy to clean. I brought it to work together with a manual coffee grinder. My coworker always tells me that it’s a fancy coffee maker. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and I highly recommend it.

I’ve had a couple French press coffee makers and this is a little smaller than the others but does the job. The quality of the glass/metal/plastic is not the highest quality but for the price this does a nice job. Filters out the coffee as it should and makes a mean cup of cofee. It comes with some directions, but I use some other variations online and it does a nice job

I know - the words "attractive ensemble" don't really fit a French press, but that's what I thought when I first saw it so there they are. I've only used it once so far, but it worked just as well as one I had bought several years ago for nearly twice the price. My cat thought it would be fun to push THAT pot off the kitchen counter and see what happened when it hit the floor. Maybe he thought it would bounce, I don't know, but it didn't. Anyway, I needed a replacement. I was excited to bypass my drip coffee maker this morning to try out my new press. Truth be told, I prefer making my coffee in a French press. It just tastes better to me. So all the parts are here. Included are two replacement mesh filters, a scoop, and even a handles sponge for washing the pot. Not sure what more you could want for $18. Yes, I got the smaller one because it's usually just me here in the mornings. It was packaged so well that I don't see how it could possibly get broken in transit unless somebody stomps on it. Thick styrofoam on the bottom and top, and a piece of cardboard between the bottom of the pot and the frame. They definitely intended for it to arrive in one piece. It comes with a little instruction pamphlet, which tells you how to make coffee in it. It doesn't, however, tell you in what order to put the filters back on the plunger. I already knew, but I noticed in the pictures for this they make it look like there should be two mesh filters on the plunger, and that's just not right. It could be confusing for someone who's never used one before. Bottom line, this is a solid French press coffee pot that looks really nice (I got the copper) and should last a while... as long as my cat doesn't touch it.

Admittedly, I am no expert on French Presses. My experiences with French Presses have been limited and not particularly successful. So, the YMMIND French Press has been a pleasant surprise. Perhaps it’s because the YMMIND French Press comes with instructions which I followed. Ymmind went out of their way to ensure that the purchaser has instructions for both use as well as care and handling. Included are instructions printed in a little booklet. Instructions are also printed on the outside of the box. Instructions are also available on the Amazon page, if the other instructions aren’t enough. I am including pictures of the instructions in case the buyer forgot to save the box or booklet. Besides instructions, included in the box are a long-handled sponge and a spare French Press filter. I was able to make rich tasting coffee the first time out. The model that I tested is an attractive copper color. It looks elegant on the kitchen counter but with its small footprint it will even fit on a counter or in a cabinet of an apartment. It appears to be sturdy and well-constructed of quality materials. The YMMIND French Press would make a good choice for a primary or backup coffee maker in a home, apartment or trailer.
