I really wanted to love this chair, and in general it's decent. They just need to fix a few things to make it perfect. Let's start at the beginning. I purchased 2 of these chairs when my elderly mother fell and broke her hip. One for her, and one for a caregiver (me) to sleep in so I could be bedside. The chairs come in 2 boxes each if I remember correctly, and overall they went together without problem. My brother was able to assemble them himself. Two thumbs up for ease of assembly! They also arrived, not just quickly, but sooner than Amazon had estimated. Another plus. They seem to be well made, and the material was soft to touch. The two chairs also matched perfectly... something I was concerned about when buying these sight unseen. As for comfort, the chair is... I'm going to say, moderately comfortable. In general the chair seats great, but three major items bring that comfort down: First. The width of the seat, though appearing to be generous (something we looked for since we were dealing with a hip incision), turned out to be much narrower because of the padded arms. Having never had padded arm furniture I did not realize it would make the seat width significantly smaller. It made this chair uncomfortable for our purpose. You need to evaluate to see if it will affect the person you're making this purchase for. The second item on discomfort is the very short leg rest length when in the recline position, our legs literally hang off the edge of the chair. At only average height I was quite taken by this. It's not long before you feel the edge of the chair pushing into your calf or ankle, depending on how tall you are. Finally, the massagers in the foot rest are not well padded and can really dig into your lower legs. I found myself constantly trying to make my legs comfortable. Safety. The chair does a great job of helping aid my mother into a standing position, and does so steady and quiet. One feature I really wish the chair had is a "home" button/feature that would take you from a recline position to a sit position then stop before going into a stand. Many times now I've had to remind my mother to stop the chair before she slides out because she wanted to sit, not stand, but the chair keeps going. At 80 years old it's hard for her to determine exactly when she should stop pushing the down button. This can become a real safety concern, and it's become a rule that mom doesn't operate the chair unless someone is with her. The control is placed out of her reach at night for added safety. Stability. Remember how easy I mentioned it was to assemble these chairs? Well, that comes with a price. Since the four different sections (back, seat, and 2 arms) simply slide, or "drop", into place, they just as easily pull up again. The sections do not lock together after they are put into place, so there are times when you may reposition, or assist the person in your care move, stand up from, or sit in the chair, and you actually feel like you may just pull the arm of the chair off! Would it actually come off in a situation like that? I certainly hope not, but just feeling them lift up is disconcerting enough. Features. The massage and heat features included in this model weren't something I was really looking for in a lift chair, but my mom has found them so nice I'm thankful they're included! Her post-op muscles have been sore and stiff, and she has found the heat/ massage combo to be a real help in relaxing those muscles and easing some of her pain. Please note, this was not initially, but after her "surgical pain" had dissipated. It would be nice if you could have the heat feature on without also having the massage on, and If it's therapeutic heat you're looking for you'll want to move past this chair because you won't find it here. It's lukewarm at best. Even mom wishes she could turn up the temp. The massage has auto shut-off after about 10 minutes. Fair warning-- they can sound a little like war drums-- if you have thin walls and close neighbors, or ex- military with PTSD, you should keep that in mind, especially at night. The remote itself is lit making it easy to find, and it's simplicity makes it understandable for even the mildly forgetful. Sorry mom. The remote is corded and, though some may prefer wireless, this is perfect for us because mom can't lose it. Sorry again, mom. The only disappointment with the control is the USB port. Whoever designed the USB port (a feature I wanted so mom could charge her Kindle) to be at the TOP of the remote has clearly never used one, or at least for no extended amount of time. What. A. Pain. Please, just put it in the side of the chair like everyone else. The cup holders are nice... unless you have someone who, in addition to needing the lift from the chair, needs to push up from the arms. We were able to work around this, and if it's not an issue it is certainly a nice feature. Just think about who you're buying it for and what their physical condition is. Overall impression: this is a decent chair for the money. "You get what you pay for" could certainly be applied here. It cost less than a lot of other lift chairs, but you do make some sacrifices. Having said that, if this is what you can afford it's really not a bad chair, despite the quirks listed above. I chose this chair, not just for affordability, but because we needed the chair in a hurry, and department and/or furniture stores simply can't deliver that quickly. We really had no other options. If you have time to shop around I think you should go to brick and mortar stores, if for no other reason than to sit in some to see what you like and don't like. Make sure you know what the seat widths are, especially if you're buying for a larger person, as well as the overall length, particularly if you're tall. Perhaps the things I don't care are things you will love! Point is you'll at least be armed with some good information before you buy. Good luck!

This was easy to assemble and is comfortable enough, but it’s a little firm. I like the narrow seat but I don’t think a larger person would find it comfortable. Keep looking if you have hips. I’m a 5’4” stick of a person. I can also see it being too short for people when reclining. My heels hang over the support. I like it but a taller person probably wouldn’t. The heat and massage can only be used together. I was hoping for just heat. It’s quiet though. I’m happy with it and I’m glad that I have it. If you’re a larger person, you might not want it.

My favorite of my 4 recliners. Easy in and out, plush but not too soft, nice lumbar support. I sleep for hours in it. The virator is cool, and the motor is very quiet. Easy to assemble and well built. All around it exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it!
