This little electric heater is amazing. It is really nice for a small room. It has a timer, or it can be controlled with a remote, which is one of the really nice perks of it. The fire place image is really calming to look at and the price point is pretty decent for what you're getting.

3.5 stars: The pluses to this small electric fireplace insert are that it stands on its own, it has both heat and flame settings, and it fits into my fireplace opening. However, the cord is pretty short. so it has to sit a bit too close to the fireplace's front edge and too low to look natural. I'm not sure I want to use an extension cord or plug extension, but I might have too if I want to raise the item off the fireplace floor. The negatives are that it has one flame color, and the three setting options are not that much different. (Both the flame and the log color is a gold. No red, yellow, orange or blue.) I have to look at what the setting is as I click on the flame to be sure I'm on the highest setting. It is not as robust a flame as in the picture in the listing. (I have another fireplace with several flame colors and speeds, so I'm spoiled from that.) Overall, this will do, but I'd shop for one that's a bit more versatile.

Be cautious—this device has the potential to explode—but it's worth the money and a kind gift for others. It can warm you, has adjustable brightness settings for your comfort, is a decent size, and comes with a remote control in case you're too lazy to move. It's also simple to put up, and I appreciate that it can stand alone. However, the fire appears a little realistic, and it's nice that the unit will shut off on its own if it gets too hot. Be careful not to put any objects in the vents. I won't suggest it in extremely cold conditions.Additionally, because the cord is short, it is more dangerously close to the wall.
