    • Difficult to build, a little flimsy
When we purchased this, there were no reviews up yet, and we thought, "Hey, how bad can it be?" A few other people also concluded the same things we did: It is hard to assemble, flimsy, and absolutely provides shade (which is why this is not a one-star review). The instructions are a nightmare. There is a two-page booklet with Steps 1, Step 2, Step 4, and Step 5. Where is Step 3? And Step 1 is 90 percent of all the fitting together, involving 96 screws. Make sure you pay attention to M1 vs M when adding the plastic piece for holding the shade at one end; this is an important thing to do right when adding the actual canvas to the structure. It is a teeny tiny part of 200 things you need to do in Step 1 and we missed it. It is a little flimsy. This can be solved by replacing the four thin tubes with real wooden poles and I am debating whether or not I do that one of these weekends. We are going to see how it holds up over the summer. ... show more

    • Flimsy and cheap, but hey it's a pergola
To start off, I knew it wasn't going to be very good quality because of how cheap it is, but this thing is made out of paper thin steel, and came with surface rust in the drilled holes and some of the square tubing was dented and collapsed... Which wasn't that big of a deal because I could bend the steel back out.... Because it is paper thin. The instructions were not very good, but it's not rocket science to put together. The plastic caps are not high quality and have already warped in the sun. I can't think of many advantages of this pergola over another one, but it's cheap-ish shade and looks good from 15 feet away. Personally I wouldn't expect this to last more than a year or two max. ... show more

The instructions aren't good, but I'm pretty good with assembly and didn't have any issues. I had to determine how to line things up. The shade end caps definitely need to be improved. This is an easy and cheaper alternative to cutting and fitting lumber

I was looking forward to receiving this pergola and putting it together. When I opened the package I was disappointed to see a very brief instruction booklet that lacked a lot of details. I had to spend a lot of time studying the diagrams to figure out how things went together and at the end it didn’t tell me what direction it needed to face to have it “Open correctly.” Secondly, I have concerns as to how long the shade poles will last or stay attached to the slides. ... show more

plastic end caps pop off and makes piles fall. piles should be a bit longer. The canvas is very thin looks cheaper at hand 2 pieces where missing
