    • All of these tools consolidated into 1, adds a needed convenience to the workday.
I love that the light meter and laser are right next to each other. After hooking up the splitter with the laser, it's super nice to be able to check the light immediately. The cat-5 tester is super basic, but all I need. The led is kind of useless, but I don't particularly care. And I love that I don't need batteries, with the cost being so high. I just wish the charge went a little farther. Overall it's a great product. ... show more

I like it because I don't need to carry multiple devices. I do wish that the laser light was a bit stronger. But the light is strong enough.

I use expensive optical meters daily in my job as an inside plant engineer (Hub tech) for an ISP. Most of the equipment we use is either EXFO or Viavi. My EXFO light meter costs about $1800 so I wanted to try out various cheaper alternatives and compare. I feel this particular light meter has a unique design and has potential to be really useful if the designers can fix the following flaws... - The display screen is not as advertised. Advertised images show a black background with white numbering. Instead, the LCD received is a standard oldschool gray with black characters. - The plastic covers for the OPM and VFL are impossible to open without a small flathead screwdriver or two fingers with fingernails. If you dont have long fingernails it will be impossible for you to open the caps without a separate tool. They dont appear to have been designed for human hands to open. - The VFL and OPM are not sealed from dust. They have plastic covers but the covers do not seal from dust or moisture. - The separate RJ45 dongle has a defect which prevents cables from sliding fully into place. Cables easily slide in/out of the RJ45 port without ever securely clicking. Summary: The light levels were just as accurate as my $1800 EXFO meter and I liked having the built in ethernet tester. Unfortunately all the features of this unit are so poorly executed that I dont ever use it and cant recommend it to colleagues. Its difficult to turn on and the RJ45 tester is slow not to mention the plastic isnt molded well enough to allow RJ45 connectors to click securely in place without special effort. I hope the designers improve upon this existing design, but for now Id pass on this purchase. You might as well get one of the other bulkier chinese units with built in VFL but no RJ45 tester...One with a rubber cap to seal out dust and moisture. 1 year update: Unfortunately the meter is no longer accurate...Not even a little. I keep it stored in a padded EVA foam case inside a larger hard case. Its never been left in a hot car or dropped. Within a month of purchase the meter reads 2.99db no matter what its connected to. ... show more
