I was really impressed when I first pushed the power button on this unit. The light seems bright when you get it charged up and turn it on. But my first impressions quickly change when I use it in a real world situation. I’m a fiber technician for a communications company and unfortunately I wasn’t able to see this green light with only 4000 feet between me and my source. Only used it 2 times and now I am back to my red light. I wouldn’t recommend buying this product. It’s overpriced and the quality or light over distance isn’t good. ... show more

    • Finally, a green VFL!

If you work in I.T. like I do (indeed, why else would you be looking at this product?) and have to troubleshoot fiber optic cables, then you've probably wondered why there isn't a green visual fault locator, but there is! I was quite happy to find this green VFL. Working in a prison system we come across fiber optic cable that's 20-25 years old or find fiber that isn't even used, so you want to figure out where it comes out on the far end. Having two different colors of laser light helps track down the fiber especially when the fiber run is quite a distance away and you have someone helping you in a different building! Sure, I have cheap red, green, and even purple regular lasers that are used as needed, but having a VFL in green is awesome. While it hasn't been put into practice on long fiber optic runs, yet, testing it on short runs of fiber shows that it works as expected. Do I recommend this? Yes I certainly do. ... show more

This light only works on short distances of maybe up to a 3000 feet. Very disappointed in this light, the red lasers work a lot better. Don’t waste your money on this light.

Why didn’t I switch sooner? The 15mW green laser exposes faults my old 5mW red unit missed. Battery life is insane—used it 9 hours straight tracing a campus network. Lightweight enough to clip to my harness while climbing poles. NovaGrowth understands what techs REALLY need!
