Of the several items I purchased on Amazon, it was specifically this umbrella that I was really worried about its integrity during the relatively long shipping. Because it is made of wood and there are quite thin parts. I was a bit shocked when I saw the box - but after I opened the brown cardboard. I relaxed - the original cardboard umbrella is much shorter, as I imagined myself. This umbrella - the funniest delivery I've ever received - after I took off the bubble bag I saw a plastic net, like they use for fruit and vegetable packaging, but stronger that gently held the umbrella. After a careful and thorough inspection, I saw a not very large number of wood fibers sticking out, because I intend to spin very delicate threads like silk, etc. - and I really want to keep them intact, and also because a fiber is so small, if it penetrates a finger it is very difficult to remove it - I took a buff with which the surface of the nails is polished - the most delicate - and went over these areas. In addition, if I manage to find an odorless wood polish (so as not to cause discomfort to the dear cats) and dries quickly - I give myself a thin layer. But to give everything - the polish of an umbrella is almost ideal - no more than 0.01 percent of the surface needs a little help. I was really happy in all respects - the price is fair, the quality is good, the delivery is fast and safe, the courier from Amazon receives a more personal and caring treatment from Israel's delivery companies, also the convenience of delivery to the house - really nice because the carton is about my height and it's not convenient to walk around between the buses with such a non-compact 🤣. My satisfaction - 101 out of 100. Really thanks to the dear seller.

Yarn will fight the machine, the machine won't fight the yarn

So, for the price, meh. This could easily have been $15 but with the economy nowadays this was fair I guess. The whole thing is a bit fragile/wobbly/precarious because the clamp allowances are slim. I think the most hindering thing about this set up is the clamp allowance because I had to try it on multiple things to get the right fit and even after that the winder was stable but the swift was giving me anxiety. That being said overall great for the hobbyist. Easy to figure out, small learning curve, and takes WAY less time than winding a ball, plus it makes cute little center pull cakes. Once you find the right tension too you can work at a reasonably quick rate.

Excellent little machine!

After years of winding my yarn on a nostapine I finally broke down and bought this. I love it so much. It is small and portable and clamps perfectly to the top of a little side table. I spent hours yesterday rewinding all of my sloppy balls of yarn. Everything looks so fabulous. Extremely easy to use, although you will probably have to tape the wire arm to your table surface to keep it from moving. But that's no big deal. When I'm using a wrapped yarn it does tend to "shudder" and throw the yarn off when it gets to the 'shoulders' of the yarn cake. But once I discovered that it is just that type of yarn, I could keep an eye on it and work around it. It's no big deal. I haven't used it long enough to know how it'll hold up, but I literally wound yarn for 6 hours yesterday continually and it worked perfectly. Worth every penny! I also like that it is small and when I'm done with it I can just put it in the basket with my yarn cakes and it's out of the way.

If I could stop loosing these in my house, that would be great. I must have like 4 of these, or something like these hiding in plain site. I am convinced there is a vortex in my home that houses knitting needles, yarn, hooks, and of course yarn winders. However, this one is still being used, and has not gotten lost in the vortex, so I would say... buy it if you are looking for an affordable yarn winder that vibrates at a frequency that stays visible in an average crafters home.

Meh, clockwise only, and frustrating

Must turn clockwise! The struggle with this winder is that it is best if put on the right side of a desk, so that you can hold the yarn with your left hand and turn the handle clockwise with the right hand. However, any unintentional tugging or pulling will make the arm that directs the yarn pop back inward. So I thought, to keep that director arm in place, wind with left and hold with right, simple right? Well, the yarn kept slipping out and wouldn't catch to rotate when I went clockwise, so I went counterclockwise. Then the middle part that the yarn was sitting on kept popping off! It seems fairly durable since the middle kept flying off and knocking into things without becoming damaged, but it seems the design might need some adjusting? I only tested it on worsened weight yarn, so nothing chunky and only 3oz worth. But still, it just didn't seem to want to cooperate the way I had hoped. And perhaps this is nit picky, but the middle part that the yarn it wound around seems unnecessarily large. Why is it an inch in diameter? Why not a quarter or half inch so that more yarn could be spooled? So while it works, it was rather frustrating to use.
