Easy to use. No issues. Good product made a very nice yarn cake

  • Good! Use a flat surface and center pull the yarn!
The setup was very easy, and it made a beautiful yarn ball that has made my project infinitely less unruly! It took 120m of chenille like a champ. Once we got the hang of it, my husband and I were able to get this little contraption to make a beautiful yarn cake to work with (see pic). I did two more on my own in about 5 minutes the next day (including setup). Center pull is the way to go!! HOWEVER, the clamp definitely needs a very even surface to be attached to. It kept coming off mid-wind from our kitchen table's beveled edge. It worked like a dream once I put it on my very flat lap desk edge. It held firmly once I got it on a flat enough surface. ALSO, keep an eye on the base of your yarn ball so that a row doesn't get stuck and tangled... not that I am speaking from experience or anything... Overall, very happy with the results for the price now that I figured out a surface where it holds firm. ... show more

  • Works well with a low price!
Super quick and easy to use. It’s small enough to store easily when not in use, and attaches easily to surfaces. Good value for the money.

  • Organize your yarn
I've always wanted a yarn ball winder. I hate when my yarn is in a skein and gets all tangled up while you're using it. Also, when you have issues pulling out the strand to start a new skein, and you end up pulling a while wad of it out instead. This solves these issues for me. I can wind any of my skeins of yarn into balls that are neat, and you can center pull easily. This makes organizing my yarn so much easier, because they can all fit together in a more uniform size and shape. You can work huge skeins into a more workable ball. There's not a whole lot I can say, it works as it should, and has made my "piles of yarn" much more manageable. I don't know how I lived without it for so long. ... show more

  • Sort of works…
So… the little wire arm that feeds the yarn onto the spooler is too low and this causes the yarn to get tangled. You can try holding it with your hand which sort of works but honestly more work and trouble than it is worth in my opinion. It seems decently made just needs to be more adjustable.

  • Great for small yarn balls
Works well enough. You have to keep tension on the yarn the entire time you're spinning it or the yarn will slip around the spindle and not form the yarn ball properly.

  • Great yarn winder!
This yarn winder has all of the features of a more costly hand-operated yarn winder. It holds well to a table, and has little feet that help to contain it to a table edge. The winding mechanism works as well as more expensive winders. The post where the yarn winds onto does not come loose while winding a ball. The post appears to have a standard connection, so it can be removed to allow for smaller (after-market) posts to be added to make smaller balls. I am happy to have this as an option for students when they need to wind a skein into a center-pull ball. ... show more

  • My first winder! I like it.
It's difficult to say how this may compare to more expensive winders because I haven't had one before this. I do know I was tired of paying the knitting shop to wind my yarn so it's good money saver. A little practice and it doesn't slip on my like it did at first. Basic winder for a good price!
