  • Great choice
Size: 3/4 Size
The product arrived on time as promised. It arrived in its own box which was inside a bigger box. The guitar itself was in good shape, no scratches, no dents, no areas without the finish. I bought it without the bundle. This is the Yamaha student series 3/4 sized guitar with nylon strings. I'm a senior, 5'2", with fairly small hands. I had a full sized guitar which I have not used in 35 years. Check my photos and see the difference in size between a full sized and a 3/4 sized guitar. I wasn't sure if the 3/4 size would suit me but I started playing and it was comfortable to play. I stopped playing for 35 years due to my studies and career but now that I'm retired, I like to play a bit everyday. I'm not a guitar professional, but a lay person who is learning how to play again after many years. The Yamaha brand is well known and a friend who's a music teacher advised me to buy a Yamaha so here I am. The guitar itself appears to be well constructed with an even glossy finish. A string or 2 needs to be retuned everytime I play it. Hopefully, in the long run, it'll stabilize and I won't have to. I recommend this product to those who like tinkering with a guitar during their golden years, to those who travel with their instrument, and to young people learning to play the guitar for the first time. ... show more

  • Great starter guitar for young children.
Size: 1/2 Size
I bought this on Prime Day for my 6 yr old, and he loves to play with it. I am 6'2", 195lbs and I started playing with it too, to encourage his play and enjoyed it so much, I bought a guitar for my own (not Yamaha). For a newbie, the nylon strings are so much easier on your fingertips than steel. The guitar (nylon?) is very forgiving sound-wise and easy to play. Seems like my errors are magnified on my Seagull S6, and it could be a nylon vs. steel string thingie. I'm not sure, I've only been playing 4 weeks or so. Anyways, for the price, I'm very happy about the purchase, it's a great starter guitar for very young children. And if he grows disinterested, I'm not out a lot of money. I think if my son was 10 or 11, I wouldn't get this one but I'd get a concert-sized guitar (smaller than dreadnought). Just something to think about for you parents out there looking at this product. ... show more

  • I love this guitar!
Size: 1/2 Size
I am a 73-year-old woman with a degree in music (flute). Have long wanted to learn classical guitar (for my own enjoyment) but found full-size versions uncomfortable to play. I bought the Yamaha CGS102A half-size guitar 4 months ago and regard it as one of the best musical purchases I've ever made. It is comfortable to hold, has a lovely sound, and stays in tune well. I wasn’t sure how committed I would be about learning to play guitar, but my experience with this instrument has redoubled my enthusiasm. Thank you, Yamaha, for offering such a pleasing and affordable guitar! ... show more

  • Not real rosewood.
Size: 1/2 Size
The fret board is some stained wood and not real rosewood. It began to bleed color after afew months but after the return period. Real roeswood does not do this. Does not affect the performance of the guitar but incorrect description of materials. Did not expect it from a Yamaha product.

  • Perfect size
Size: 1/2 Size
The size of this guitar is perfect for my 8 year old child who is learning to play guitar. Good quality and sound. The only thing that I wish this guitar has is a place where I can hook a strap because the guitar can be easily dropped by someone who is just starting to learn to play. I ordered a strap and had to cancel it because there is no place to hook the strap on this guitar. ... show more

  • Great quality and great value. Highly recommended!
Size: 3/4 Size
I got this for my boy who had been taking lesson for 2 yrs (1/2 size) and needed a bigger size. He's been using this for 3 years now, and it still sounds wonderful and still a good size for him. (He is 11 now). Maybe will need a step up in size soon. But this one had served us great for all these yrs. ... show more

  • Good value for an inexpensive guitar, recommended
Size: Full Size
There is no doubt this is an inexpensive guitar, but it was perfect for the purpose for which I purchased it: having something I didn't need to worry about carrying around while on a trip. Tone is very good, very simple, with none of the more complex harmonics more expensive guitars have, but the timbre is a good sound. It is easy to play, and arrived well set up. The tuners won't last in everyday use for a lifetime, but are adequate for this type of guitar. The rosette is printed instead of assembled. The strings on it when sold were serviceable. It is very light-weight. I would recommend it to someone who is just starting playing and not sure whether they will continue, doesn't have the money to purchase a better guitar, or just need something to practice on that they don't need to worry about damaging. ... show more

  • Very nice beginner guitar
Size: 3/4 Size
I got this guitar for my daughter to learn with. She loves it, and I have to say that this guitar blows my first 3/4 classical from 30+ years ago out of the water. It's been a blast for me to sit and play as well. For a young beginner, you can't go wrong with this instrument. I got the Cordoba 3/4 Size Deluxe Gig Bag to go with it and it fits nicely. ... show more
