I’ve gone down the road in the past of purchasing cheaper, knock off versions that work for a while, but ultimately fail. However, this lock is exactly what I should have Purchased From the beginning. The seamless Apple HomeKit integration is really what sold me on this lock. The lock is stylish and does not take away from my houses look. It was really easy to replace my older deadbolt with this lock. It Took approximately 20 minutes (This includes a HomeKit set up). The only Slight negative is they have different versions of this lock. Be sure that you get the HomeKit version If you have An apple ecosystem. Also, some of the versions come with keys and home key. Double check before you purchase to avoid having to send it back. The bottom line, go ahead and pay the extra money and you won’t be disappointed.     • Unsafe -- Autolock feature unpredictably, but regularly fails

I have owned five prior Yale Assure locks -- the original HomeKit ones with August built in, a lever lock and the more recent Yale Assure 2 (before HomeKey). All were generally quite reliable and if anything ever failed, it was the geofenced auto-unlock, but I could live with that occasional failure. I've love the DoorSense function and the overall usability otherwise. When I saw that the HomeKey version was available, I immediately jumped on it. We're all big into he Apple ecosystem and I was excited to be able to go out for a run without my keys or phone and just tap my watch when I get home. After replacing my Yale Assure 2 with this new HomeKey variant, all was fine for a while, but then eventually it would fail to auto-lock. The app would show that the door was closed and lock -- but it was not locked. This proved to be a big security risk as we had all grown accustomed to the auto-lock function when leaving the house. And the prior locks were dead reliable at locking -- but this one is not, and worst of all if you look in the app, it would tell you the door is locked when it is not. I have spoken with tech support many, many times. We run through the same steps a variety of different ways, but there is no resolution. So I'd stay away until these serious security flaw bugs are figured out. This lock is not cheap. If it worked as promised, I'd be fine with that. But as it is, this is unacceptable at any price. ... show more

    • Solid lock but has calibration issues

Overall, the lock itself looks great and feels solid. Setting up the lock is a little painful, but eventually (after several retries/resets) it'll work. The only issue that I have now is the lock calibration. It works well after calibration but when you use the app to lock/unlock it leaves it in a state where it doesn't fully lock and unlock. This causes the lock to not know that it's locked/unlocked so either you have to a) recalibrate or b) manually twist the lock to lock/unlock. I've contacted Yale and they've sent a replacement but still the same issue so I think this is a software issue. I hope they'll fix this in a software update but I don't have much confidence since I have not seen any software updates on my other Yale locks. ... show more
