We have a new 2.5lb Chihuahua puppy in the house. He is so small and active that having a bell on him is a must to keep up with his whereabouts. This collar fit him well. The issue is with the ring that holds the bell and excess strap length. Once you feed the strap in, there isn't a lot of space for you to hook the leash. And if you cut the excess length, then you don't have any room as the dog grows. We purchased another collar locally that uses plastic snap buckles instead. Can't speak to longer term durability since we didn't keep it that long. ... show more

It is hard to imagine the leather being any thinner. I highly recommend it for a teddy bear or a similar toy but not an dog or cat. Attaching a leash that might be pulled by a dog is unthinkable. Similar items are available in dollar stores.
