  • The xvive t9 is a beautifully crafted 2ba iem, that has a very engaging sound!
Size: T9 IEM
I've been enjoying these iems for almost a week now, and I've finally figured out my thoughts enough to review it. Firstly, this iem is super easy to drive, and gets to hearing damage levels of volume very easily. So no matter what source you're using, volume shouldn't be an issue. The build quality is just ridiculous. Absolutely stunning! This level of resin build quality is usually found in iems much more expensive! Take a look at the pictures in this review, I'm truly blown away by the look, feel, and build quality on these! The included cable is good enough, but I'm a little crazy and swapped it with a yinyoo cable anyway! The included tips fit fine, but I actually found them to hurt the sound quality. These actually have a somewhat claustrophobic sound with the stock tips, and was improved massively when using different tips. I ended up using TRN T eartips, and it sounded so much better! The sound signature is definitely best described as L shaped. The bass is very prominent, and takes the mainstage. Thankfully, this has to be one of my favorite implementations of balanced armature bass I've heard. More specifically, the bass is extremely tight, and slams unexpectedly hard. The subbass is also impressive, maintaining extension and rumble even down to around 10hz. Very impressive, especially for a balanced armature!! The midrange is decent, but in general the whole midrange is overshadowed slightly by the bass. The midrange is generally soft, and non fatiguing. Vocals sound fairly good, especially female vocals in genres like Jpop. Instrument separation is also good! The only real concern is, the timbre isn't quite as natural as some other iems in the price range. The treble is another story. Well executed! Non fatiguing, and provides great detail. It doesn't do anything wrong in particular, and is generally enjoyable. My only real complaint, is that extension could be slightly better. The soundstage is fairly good as well (after changing tips). I wouldn't recommend this to anyone looking for a "reference" sound. I think this iem is well suited to someone looking for an enjoyable listen with a focus on bass. I'm guilty of listening to these for hours on end! This set has a place in my collection! ... show more

  • Flawless design, flawless performance, incredible value
Size: U4
The Xvive U4... where to start. Well, let's be honest - the reason you're probably looking into this product is because it is by far the most affordable wireless in-ear solution. You're probably skeptical, and that's fair. The less expensive wireless units often run into interference issues with WiFi and cell phones. I've used the U4 in a couple different venues so far and although there have been small glitches, all it takes is just finding the right channel. There are 6 channels to sort through, each with 3 sub-levels. That's 18 total frequencies you can use. I'm not a technical person and I don't know how to describe it, but the U4 has worked perfectly every time I've used it. If I run into an interference issue, I just switch to a different frequency and I'm good to go. In the past, I've set up the transmitter at front of house, well over 100 feet away, past audience members with cell phones, wireless routers in the way, and god knows what other radio frequencies the government is spying on us with... lol. The U4 performs perfectly in the first one or two channels I try. You're saving a lot of money by going with the Xvive U4 over the Shure equivalent, but I notice no difference in performance. I play at a church that uses the Shure system and I've switched to bringing my own U4 now since it frees up the Shure reciever to give to one of the other musicians. The only downside is that the Shure is stereo and the Xvive is mono. Really, that's a pretty insignificant though. The U4 is rechargeable! Both the receiver and the transmitter can be recharged with USB mini. A regular USB splitter to dual mini USB cable is provided with the U4, along with an adapter for XLR to 1/4" TS for the transmitter. Also included is the vinyl pouch, which lives in my guitar case now. Overall, I have been so happy with the U4 that I've been recommending it to everyone I can. My church just has three Shure kits for the music director, lead guitarist, and drummer, but I know now it'll be easy for them to expand to include the other musicians as well. I would definitely recommend the Xvive U4 to anyone looking to get into running an in-ear monitoring setup. If I had one suggestion to make to Xvive, it would be that I would love to see a charging station made for receivers and transmitters if someone wanted to outfit their entire band with these. Right now it would be a mess of USB cables but with the charging station, everything could be kept nice and neat. Anyway, the U4 - buy one and give it a try at your venue to make sure it runs smoothly for you - although I don't expect you to have an issue. • Clear sound with attenuated hi freq, may cause interference on some mixers
Size: U4R2
The setup is intuitive, solid link quality, and sounds clear with noticeable attenuated hi frequency. 1) Strong interference when being plugged into Zoom L-8 mixer, with supplied TRS to XLR adapter. The mid frequency humming was evident throughout all input/outputs and R2 receiver, this can render electronic guitars unusable, and very annoying noise for IEM purpose. All close by cables can be interfered, your can check this by moving around cables around U2 transmitter. 2) Marginally acceptable interference when being plugged into Zoom L-8 XLR output (w/o supplied TRS adapter) The mid frequency humming was greatly reduced, no as annoying as thru TRS adapter, acceptable for band practicing IEM However it is unacceptable for recording purpose, the humming was still too prominent. 3) Extend the transmitter via an extension cable (TRS /XLR) away from signal cable and mixer can cure this issue A 30 cm extension wire can cure the issue, deliver clear sound. The interference is somewhat due to the interoperability between a all-plastic shielded Zoom L-8 Mixer. However, this can also be possible when you place the transmitter close to any instrument cable with high output impedance, and/or poorly shielded cables. After some some trials and tweaks this product did shine out its versatility and quality, at a sweet price point. ... show more
