I own(ed) several Holosun optics for various pistols and they never disappoint. The age of $400-$500 Trijicon RMR Type 2 is over because there’s literally no point of picking one up when they’re outdated now while costing almost 1.5x-2x more than the Holosun options. If you’re a civilian consumer and looking for a gold standard for red dot optics for your pistols, the Holosun 507C series (X2 or X3) is the one to get. The new X3 series took things to the next level on top of the X2 (which is the gold standard, but with less options). The new square frame design gives you the new overhand over the glass to reduce overhead glare and they’ve added a new front facing photodiode light sensor just like the one you get on the Trijicon RMR HD that costs over $750. The front facing design works much better than the old conventional design of having the light sensor on top of the housing because it now reads the light in FRONT of the optic (which is more important and accurate to where you are aiming) compared to the ambient light sensor, which is extremely unreliable and inaccurate. Just ok with it. The optic came with 1 box seal torn away and a small ding on the inner center of the optic where the paint chipped off a bit and you can see someone dropped it or something. Not sure what happened.
