Ignore the silly personal, no experience reviews people. You guys I did 12 holes with this, started literally the second FIRST TIME USE pull. Let er warm up and went at it. TAKE NOTE, it rained about a day before... I'm in Texas and not red, but nothing but pure BLACK CLAY as hard as it can get. Garbled that mud up like it was a frosty from Wendy's. I hit BIG roots(old tree removed) and it ended up trying to spin throw me to the house next door. Suckers got some TORQUE! Never once shut off. Never once got "real hot". For each hole I did, 4 pick-up and throttle pop to empty the bit and back down. Done with the hole (2ft)... 2-3 minutes TOPS! I was hitting some big beefy roots too(2+ inches) and it cuts the little ones like old rubber bands. It don't "overheat", it' does not "die out", the exhaust is NOT in your face(if you are left handed, learn to use your right or figure out how to move the throttle to the left side). The bit on the auger bit stayed put, the gearbox is shipped full of oil so there's no "gearbox being empty" and all the negative jazz with the one stars. If you got your mix right the first time, you won't have heating problems. If you are not trying to drill through rocks ON PURPOSE, you won't have blade issues. If you are not trying to open the gearbox and forget to fill it back up, you won't have gearbox issues. ALL of these 1 star reviews are pure negative and should be considered slander and taken down as good as this is. This is by far the best investment I've ever made and I'm about to use it again on a Trex deck job, 8 more 2 footers. Whoever is smack talking about this PURELY has no experience at all like this other video where dude is bouncing on it.. THE ONLY TWO DOWNFALLS: The torque and vibrations of this is pretty high both ways which I LOVE, what I dislike is the fact there's no rubber on the handles so when this sucker constantly torquing out, it burned in some calyist literally under both pinkie fingers LOL... wear gloves or figure out a way to add some rubber on the handles and strong padding. This is NOT made for soft hands. at all lol. Literally that's about it on the downfalls, overall I'm super happy and pleased with this. NOTE FOR NEW USERS: - You CANNOT simply start it and fire off the throttle 100% off the bat on cold-starts. It's a two stroke, give it a minute to warm up THEN you can have at it. Use it at low speeds in the beginning and THEN you can crank it up on throttle. - It's not a 244hp 30 man auger you're shopping for power, stop putting your body weight on it to force it down. The 55cc is PLENTY enough and that's not even had half throttle, let the bit to the work. Only takes not even 8% of body weight to get this to dig it. You want the bit to shear the dirt not literally drill through it. - There's a comment on here that he mentions about "when i was trying to drill through rocks" ... Please people, don't do that, augers of this type are not meant for making holes in flagstone. If you doing it on purpose, don't one star this seller over it. - You CANNOT try and shove down 2 foot in one swoop. You'll have to let off the throttle, lift it up straight, turn to the side away from the hole and give it a little blip on the throttle to empty the bit. Even the industrial augers with the hydro action have to pull out every so often. Don't rush! - if you know you have rocks and big roots, no need to one star the seller. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE, that's not the sellers fault if you get it and it breaks over drilling through a hidden driveway you knew about. Thanks about it guys/gals. If you are looking for an auger that meets directly between power, price and efficiency, this is the one!

Pays for itself first use. I was surprised how easy it was to drill a 10 inch hole. It is just like butter, once in a while it will pull you over if you are not holding on, but this thing works similar to a two man auger. My 6 month fence just blew down with this CA rain storm and high winds. The reason it blew down is because I didn't dig it deep enough. No problem, I am 4.5 feet down with an extension, easy as pie, 7 holes in 10 minutes. Would have taken me days to dig those. Had the mix a little strong on oil side, just added straight gas to the tank and problem resolved very easily. 30 to 1 is already heavy on the oil side, that is what they recommend. When you start it, the bottom doesn't spin at idle, good. You have to press the gas to get it spinning, and starts slow. Just digs a hole so fast and easy, I can't believe I didn't get it before. I saw where a different machine broke at the neck, I don't even see how that can happen with this machine. Con, it is a little heavy. I would say when you are deep and 10 inches, it has to be about 100 pounds. I would bet that is necessary though. Update: I have used this too many times to count over many years now, still 5 star. Every once in a while I put oil mix wrong and it is hard to start, just add straight gas comes right around.

For the price, this is a good little work horse. This was a birthday gift from my folks. I've used all three bits for my various projects, horse shelters , fence line, round pen.( but you'll want to get some extra pin's,- that's why I rated it 4 out of 5 - I was able to reuse the end one, but when I was out yesterday it worked it's self off , or broke and I lost the heavy one. So got to find a replacement:( not a big deal if I had went ahead and gotten a heavier one in the first place ) Way fast compared to the manual digger I was useing before. This one is light enough for me to carry around,( 5ft 6in, girl here ) and your not exaughsted after useing it. I put all the round pen posts in ,in just under a hour and a half. It started right up when I first got it, I made the gas mix a little strong the first time , but after that I was able to figure it out. It sat for a couple months , and I was able to start it up again, with little effort the other day. It does like to smoke. But what 2 stoke doesn't smoke....lol all in all I would recommend this to anyone looking for a portable auger.- it's dug threw black dirt, gravel and heavy wet clay. I got it stuck once, but pulled the motor off the bit, then just put a metal screw driver threw the hole in the bit and it twisted right out, then continued on. ( does NOT have a reverse on it, but you really don't need it )

The previous reviews of this auger are correct. The company is a Stark auger not an ExtremePower auger, it has plenty of power, starts easily, and use a 6" bit. The manual is terrible, the start/run sticker is on backwards, very easy to assemble, and very little fuel usage. I've used it regularly for almost two months for digging post holes and some yard things. The auger itself is really good. You'll need a manual post hole digger with this as well to get the dirt out of the drilled hole as the bits I've used only remove about 1/2 the soil it has drilled through. Before you buy... Think really hard about how big of hole you want to dig. I'm putting in 4"x4" posts and thought an 8 inch bit would be good. I'm 6'0", 245lbs, and not an ounce of fat...ok, maybe a tad bit of fat. I started it up, got a firm grip, started drilling and hit a rock and was promptly swung around like a daddy swinging his daughter around at the park. Don't let the size fool you, this thing has power, and if you hit a big rock or really rough spot you spin unless you have a good grip and good footing.... if the bit stops in the ground the auger continues rotating with you taking the brunt of it. I realized really fast that an 8" bit was way too big. I just don't see anyone being able to use a 12" unless you're drilling into soft sand or goose down or use two people. I went to a local store and got he 6" bit and it works great and if I need a bigger hole I just use a manual tool to spread the edge of the hole a bit. You can still get two bags of cement into a 6" hole. with you post.

Overall I think this is pretty good value, and it's on the edge of four stars. The included bits are kind of cheap and I did buy an additional earthquake bit with the fish tail tip which digs a lot easier so you may want to consider that but as far as the digger goes it's worked well for me for a couple months. It can take a little work to start but once started and warm it runs well. It definitely has good torque and will rip your arms off if you hit a rock or root, which is why I'd recommend using smaller diameter bits versus the big 12" unless you've got clean soil. One issue though is that the plastic trigger housing cracked on me. Not sure how it happened but now while the unit works, the throttle is a little finicky to get started because the cracked housing. I think if they upgraded the plastic parts and had a little better bits this could be a five star device, but right now you definitely get what you pay for. That said, I'd probably recommend it because it's worked well for me, you just need to know the limitations.

Drilled through Texas clay and rock like butter. I had to drill 55 30" holes to put up a new fence. The tough part is that I had to do it mid summer in north Texas when the clay us as hard as concrete. Engine started up right away each time. The 8" Auger bit was great and cut through roots and rock great. The oil ratio is a bit funky but it us 20ml of oil goes into the 20oz bottle provided. Go slow and brace yourself. This machine is very powerful, I avoided revving it too high because the one time I did it jerked my shoulder bad. Also if you go too quickly in clay, the auger bit's heat and blade can actually glaze the clay at the bottom of the whole and cause it to just glide on the surface. I just took a breaker bar and chopped up the surface a bit and the auger did a fine job.i wanted to test how much faster this auger would've than hand digging. It took me nearly 1 hour to dig 1 hole with a manual post digger, with this beast it to 90 seconds (if no roots or rocks where encountered). Love this machine. Great investment

BAIT AND SWITCH! This was a terrible experience and product. I thought the product description met my needs and was excited to get started with it. The first glaring issue was I did not receive an "XtremepowerUs" brand auger, I received a "Stark" brand auger! Bait and switch! This company doesn't even own the original text document that created the manual. It is a very blurry obviously scanned copy of a pamphlet that has a bunch of cut and pasted texts with different fonts all over to cover up different paragraphs and brand names etc. That is a red flag in itself. However I had taken the time off from work, and had the weather break line up, so I tried to put my dismay aside and give it the benefit of the doubt anyway. It did have a lot of initial power, which I was pleased with, but that soon faded. After about an hour, it began to sound different and puff out a little smoke when it hit any sort of load. I have clay soil. And let me tell you about hitting a rock, even a small golf ball sized rock. Tt does not have any sort of safety feature where it stops under incredible force. It will keep trying and I think that was killing the motor. The final straw was after about an hour and only the 7th hole or so, it snagged on the tall grass and/or a shallow rock ripping it out of my hands and fell down and broke. How can this machine break essentially tipping over? Well the throttle assembly is made out of incredibly thin PLASTIC, of which, the assembly is predominantly mounted on the outside edges of the handle. The handle is the first thing that hits the ground. So under its own weight, it exploded the housing and rendered it unusable. When I returned the item for this nonsense, the company said they would generate the return for me and it will get picked up. Well a few days later I got a call saying I had a delivery at the UPS terminal. Unusual, but OK since I had to go that way anyway. Well turns out it was the same returned product. This was because being that it arrived in two separate packages, the return request didn't mention that or something so they thought they still had a box for me there I had to go to the UPS terminal to get this straightened out. Guess what I also learned there? This company filed this return under a SHIPPING DAMAGE claim, trying to push off the cost as an insurance claim to UPS for negligent rough shipping. Terribly unethical and deceiving business practice. When I explained the real situation to the UPS they took it back. A few weeks later I had a voicemail from UPS investigating the "damage claim" but I never heard back from them. I assume it was because it was obvious there was no shipping damage and it was fraud.

I bought this auger, having never used one before. I didn't know what to expect, but have to say I'm amazed with its ability. I had 35 holes to dig for a deck and staircase supports, which boarders on to woodland. The experience of using it varies, depending on your soil type, how wet/dry it is and if there are any tree roots present. Too wet and it winds in quickly like a corkscrew and you use your strength trying to pull the auger back out. Too dry and you're trying to put all your weight on the thing to push it into the ground. Beware, if you hit a tree root and it stops the bit rotating, the machine doesn't stop and will spin you around on the top of it. Overall, five stars because it does exactly what you need it for. It's a beast to use and will give you a solid workout. I always used it with two people and it was tough to hold on to if there are any tree roots present. It is light enough to use by yourself, but soil conditions would need to be ideal to make it a pleasant experience. Great machine for the money, incredibly powerful for its size and delivers exactly what you expect.
