This drawing monitor is insanely good for the price. I’ll have to admit that I’ve only used it for a week or so at the time of me writing this. Yet the one thing I wanted to point out was something I found to be quite inconvenient and possibly challenging/ impossible for beginners as they set up their new drawing monitor. I started out by deleting my previous tablet driver and downloaded the one that my computer needed on the XP-PEN website. It was a walk in the park, super simple. The thing was when I rest my computer and connected the cables it wasn’t working. I turned on the monitor and it gave me an error message, then enabled battery saver mode. Long story short I had to fidget around with my cables for about 30 minutes and reset my computer a dozen times to actually get it going. Once inside my program I found that even though the cursor was popping up on screen once it went over the canvas it was going haywire. I went into the driver and calibrated it a bunch, then reset it again. Then I ended up having to change my virtual monitor set up so that the XP-PEN monitor would mirror my main one. After all that I came a across a slight problem, in multiple programs that I had tested I was seeing that the lines were coming out pixel-y. It actually wasn’t a problem with the monitor that time but just the custom DPI settings I had on all my programs, so keep that in mind if you come around a similar issue. Anyways, it took me about 15 resets before it was working functionally, then another one when the stylus went haywire again. Right after reset 16 I started to question my purchase but once I got into the rhythm of things with the touch bar, shortcut keys and the really great screen quality, my doubts just went away. The inclusion of the pen case and smudge guard plus cloth were nice but also incredibly practical. The drawing monitor didn’t give me any problems from then on, the only thing would maybe be that I have to disconnect and reconnect the HDMI to USB adapter cable every time I turn on my computer, this isn’t new to me though, I’ve had similar issues with that adapter when using other monitors, but hey maybe another reset would be necessary! All in all I would consider it easy to use but not easy to set up. There were a few aforementioned issues I encountered which weren’t from the monitor itself but instead as a result of the monitor such as the DPI and HDMI adapter, which is important to differentiate between as it helps better find the solution. If this were my first encounter with drawing virtually then I would love using it but maybe find it impossible to set up. If you’re planning on buying this product specifically for someone who doesn’t know anything about computers, drawing programs, or tablets in the slightest then it’s better to either A. Have it set up for them by someone who either knows about it or has the extreme patience and time to learn about it, or B. Buy a simpler type of drawing TABLET as it would most likely be 10 times easier to set up than a drawing monitor. Though they are XP-PEN’s competition, Wacom, and the Wacom Intuos tablets are really awesome for beginners, I had one starting out and at that time they even included drawing and animation programs ( all be it not very good ones). A Wacom tablet would be a better choice if choice A isn’t possible. Yet I understand the interest with this particular monitor with its size and price point. I highly recommend it regardless of my initial problems.

This tablet is a great bargain. It opens up the door of possibilities in your artwork because you can get the normal experience of looking at what you are drawing. XP-Pen has a lot of good tablets and before this, I had a no-screen tablet, and it was harder to make artwork that way. So this is worth the upgrade and the price was just right on Prime Day. The driver is really useful, and has many features that support your preferences like adjusting pressure, tilt, etc. and having software specific customization of the various buttons that the tablet has. Overall a great buy.

This item has only been a positive impact on my small but satisfying art career. I bought the XP-pen deco tablet before this and after using it for a while decided I could use an upgrade. Boy what an upgrade this was! First things first, the colors on the screen are better than most laptop screens. It was very noticeable to me, and I was actually quite surprised when my background picture looked so much better on the drawing screen than my laptop screen. The pen for this tablet was one of the whole reasons that I bought it. Unlike many other tablets out there, even the high end ones like Wacom tablets tend to have a stylus that is chunky to say the least. I would never see myself EVER writing with an actual pencil with that weird shape and thick profile, but this stylus is sleek and feels exactly like an everyday pencil. This means that I can draw with it for hours on end, and the first thing that stops me is getting tired mentally, not getting tired of holding a chunky pencil. Next is the quality of use. The driver is easy to find and install, and allows for almost endless customizability for the shortcut keys and even the scrolling strip. I may not yet be a very well seasoned digital artist, but for anyone who wants to strreamline their workflow, this tablet has enough options to satisfy someone in at least the intermediate stages of learning. The pen has a good number of pressure levels, and after adjusting the pressure curves (also easily done in the driver) it feels almost effortless to get the right thickness in your lines. The point where the pen draws a line is snappy and will only lag behind the pen tip when moving quickly across the screen, at which point you don't even notice. The resolution might not seem mind blowing at first, but considering that the drawing screen is smaller than most laptop screens, the pixels will be smaller than on most regular computer screens. Maybe you might notice if you have a very high end screen you use. The overall form factor of the tablet is small and easy to carry. I lug mine around in my backpack along with my laptop and notebooks and it doesn't feel too much heavier. It is nice that it comes with a pen case as well, as I doubt the pen would be quite as resilient without it. There is only one or two things that I wish this tablet did better, and they are more a fault of the product that I selected than the quality of the product itself. I wish the screen were just a bit bigger at times. It feels a bit unfortunate that the tablet is the size of a normal laptop, but the screen is noticeably smaller. Then again, this would come at the tradeoff of larger pixel size, so I can live with it. Lastly, the cables that you have to plug in to get the thing working feel like a hassle if you want to be able to draw between classes or in a spare 20 minutes. You have to spend the first 2 minutes plugging the thing in, and then you have to spend the last 4 unplugging everything and packing it all away. This is comparable to most other tablets in this range or slightly higher though, so I can't say that I would expect more. I do hope that with the widespread nature of lightning ports on computers these days, we'll start to see a few more tablets that have some lesser port needs than 2 usb and 1 HDMI cable to work. Overall, if anyone is looking for a drawing tablet that is on the cheaper end but wants to really up their digital art game, I think this is the perfect choice, as it did that very same thing for me.

For those who want it brief: "this" product is Great. It comes with a Small XP Anti-fouling glove already, a Mini-display Port/HDMI converter for Mac Users, Replaceable nibs (8 of them), and a set of Voltage/Power Adapters for other countries. It falls short on not being a higher resolution screen, but for the size, that is negligible. At 8192 levels of pressure with a Built-in screen, this is by far the best purchase for a Drawing tablet this size! Let me start by saying I've used a Wacom Bamboo for years (as well as another third party, larger tablet, which was atrocious). It was fine, but I never got quite used to the transition from looking away from my hand while drawing, which can be a major hurdle for many looking to get into using a tablet. When I bought the Bamboo, it was around $200, before taxes. While this product is $249.99 (without any coupons, which you may find some), it is well worth the price tag. So the box arrives, and they went above and beyond to ensure the tablet was secure and safe. A padded interior top, a Screen protector placed on top of an Anti-glare screen protector, Styrofoam. This thing was pristine. The packaging on the inside is neat and organized, and you know where everything is. As mentioned, it comes with an Anti-glare Screen which is already applied (though you will have to be careful removing the protective cover on top of it). Normally, Anti-glare screens can cost 20 or so dollars, so you are getting that straight away, hassle-free. For any tablet with a screen built in, this is a MUST, because if you press too hard with the pen, it can scratch. Alternatively, if you have bad room lighting, you don't want to compete with a glare. And lastly, if you are using it synced to another monitor, you do not want the light from the monitor to create trouble either. This is a GOD-SEND. The pen is Battery free, as advertised. This is great, because now you don't have to run to the store and pick up a pack of triple-A's for what-ever they go for. You can use it right away, for as long as you want. Next is the Nibs, you get 8 replaceable nibs, on them. This is awesome because, if you draw frequently (which you should be if you are looking at this sort of product anyways) you will find the nibs slowly get worse, regardless of brand. So having 8 replacements is pretty solid, and should last a long time. That said, for those who frequently throw away the instructions: DON'T. You may need them to quickly replace nibs in the future. You get a free SMALL anti-fouling glove. This is fine, if you have a small hand, otherwise you may need to purchase a larger size. This is a negligible nitpick, just due to the fact that a glove is around $10.00, but more on that later. Next, the cables. Cables are solid, and the point that connects to the tablet is set to a 90 degree angle, helping to prevent damage to the cable trying to twist around. This is really awesome, and I wish more tablets utilized this design especially around this price range. My only gripe is that I wish the cables were Braided, to further help prevent damage, but this is really minor. Set-up is easy, and you will NEED an available HDMI port either on your Graphics Card or Motherboard I/O. If you have a Macintosh, you are in luck, because it comes WITH an HDMI to Mini Display adapter in the box! This means you won't have to buy an over-priced one from Apple! (HOORAY!) Screen clarity is nice, especially with the anti-glare screen on. The max resolution is determined by the size of the monitor, so I can't complain that it is only 1080p (Full HD). You can opt to use this as a traditional tablet minus the screen ability, or share the screen to the tablet (but that's a bit more technical), which means you can still use it with your 4k Ultra HD, 144 Hertz Monitor with a 1ms response (if you have that). That being said, if you do that, you will want to disable the screen on the Tablet, and focus on the better monitor, as that will be more Accurate to what you are drawing. Again, this takes getting used to, but instead of being forced into this option with a similarly priced Wacom Product, you have the OPTION to decide if that is what you want to do. Installation of the Driver software to make it operate at it's full potential is about a 20 second download and install, which is average for most driver software in general. Now, for something similar from Wacom, you might be looking at price tag of $500 to $1,000 or more, just for it to have a built-in Screen. So for the extra $50 dollars over a Bamboo CTH470 (Which does not have a built-in screen, or replacement nibs, or an anti-fouling glove, or a set of travel adapters or... you get the point), you are getting a Full-HD touch-screen tablet, Anti-glare cover pre-applied, a set of nibs and a glove, an adapter (which from Apple may cost another 20 or so dollars), and possibly the best part for a TRAVELLING artist: A set of Power Adapters for various countries! That's right, they packed in some European power Adapters for you (which generally are marketed at around 30 dollars). So if you have family over-seas, you are mostly covered and can use this (you will want to ensure the right power-adapter is in the Box. Alternatively, Air-ports sell them as well). So a recap, 8 replacement Nibs, Anti-fouling glove Small, Anti-glare screen pre-applied, Travelling Adapters, and Mac Adapter. We'll be generous and say Nibs are cheap (though in my experience they haven't been), and valued at around $5.00, Anti-fouling glove is around $10.00, Anti-glare screen for a 12 inch is around $20.00, Travelling Adapters are around $15.00 to $30.00 (depending on brands and specials), and a Mac HDMI to Mini Display is around $15.00. Lowest total for all that extra stuff is around $65.00 at the cheapest (not including Tax). This is disregarding the fact that it has a Built-in screen, with no flicker! Hands down, this is going to be the go-to for art hobbyists who want to get into the Digital Medium. As far as I know, only the Cintiq Model Line from Wacom has built-in Screens, and those are bloody big and expensive! So just do yourself a solid, and get this if you want to get into Digital Art. For the Enthusiasts, who are really into Digital Art, you may want to look at a bigger model for a better Resolution, especially if you do this for Commision or for a business.

I recently started using the XP-Pen drawing tablet for digital art and college, and overall it has been a really good experience, especially for beginners or students starting out with drawing digitally. One of the first things I noticed was how clear and bright the screen looks. The HD display make colors appear vibrant, and it helps make drawings look more detailed and professional. Tablets like this are commonly used with programs like Photoshop, Clip studio Paint, etc. so they provide a lot of variety. Another thing I really liked about this tablet is how responsive the pen feels. The pressure sensitivity allows for thick or thin lines depending on how hard you press and it isn't overly sensitive, so you have a lot of control! The tablet also provides shortcut buttons which is really useful instead of having to find an undo button every time. However there are a few small downsides. The setup process to me took some time so it could be difficult for others to do especially if you aren't familiar with installing drivers or connecting cables to your computer. This tablet also needs to be connected to a computer to work, which may not be convenient for people who want something portable.

I've been playing with my XP for a week now and I can happily say that I'm very pleased with my purchase. I used to have one of the original Wacom Intuos years ago, so I was hesitant to stray from Wacom but couldn't afford the price... leading me to XP. Here's my summary: PROS: - as an OLD Wacom user, the technology in these newer tablets is pretty incredible, and easily bests my old Intuos. I'm sure newer Wacoms are equally impressive, but the XP did everything I wanted and more for a fraction of the price. - the screen feels great under hand, the resolution is sharp, and the colors match my Mac pretty closely. - the pen has a hexagonal shape which weirded me out at first, but now I love it. Hand cramps are minimal and it fits comfortably in my tiny hands. - the tablet has yet to overheat despite a full day's constant use. - I was super happy that I could close the laptop and still operate the tablet! However, when I'm done with the tablet I have to restart my Mac for my mouse pad to work properly again (I think that's unique to me, my Mac is... special). - no problems with Photoshop - this tablet is way more sensitive and accurate than my old one. I can hover the pen fairly far off the tablet and still get a reaction on the screen. The sensitivity is on point and smooth. I am able to carry minimal pressure and still retain a smooth edge, while my old tablet would get jittery if I didn't apply enough pressure. The XP also seems to cope with controlling pressure and opacity simultaneously more coherently than my old one did. CONS: - the cords are a nightmare, but they clearly state that. I have no complaints about the cords as it was sold as such... just be aware: they are messy and take some tinkering to figure out how they won't ruin your workspace. And yes, just like they stated, the tablet requires it be attached to a computer... again, no complaints, I knew that, and I'm not factoring it into my review as it's what I anticipated it to be. However, I don't like the cord they use directly to the tablet, it's a harsh right angle and I see that failing long before anything else. - the screen is slightly glossy, despite advertising it isn't. Certain lights and windows will get you, but just change your angle... no big twig. - The installation was a mess on my Mac. It came with okay instructions, but they had typos and didn't flow very easily. I figured it out, but it took a lil brain power. - When drawing lines, if you are fast and zoomed out slightly, there will be some flat edges. Slow down or zoom in, easy fix. Overall: totally worth the already amazing deal

Amazing product, no complaints. I've been patiently waiting to own and use a display tablet after years of drawing on a digi-tablet. I've researched other brands. This one was my insta-buy cause the pen has an eraser! My gut did not fail me. I'm in love. Update Review If you're a heavy hand drawer the screen will eventually get scratches. Lucky enough the scratches from the nib don't affect drawing across it if you practice light-handed drawing. The screen isn't the most durable for me, sadly. I still draw and have been taking care to practice not pressing hard with the nib to the screen, but even light repeated strokes seem to scratch the screen. Only had this tablet for two months but I don't plan on replacing or switching back to my tablet anytime soon till I get the full value from this screen-tablet. It's a nice learning experience, but if you're looking for something that'll last longer I wouldn't recommend this for a beginner like myself. Pros: -Cheap/affordable [get what you pay for] -Nice size to draw on. -Packaged neatly. -Easy to set-up and use Cons: -Easy to scratch screen.

TLDR: My tablet broke after a month. Don't purchase it. Seriously. Go buy another brand of tablet if you want a screen, XP-Pen is not good for this kind of product. After using XP-Pen products for years, this purchase alone was enough to put me off of them forever. I have been using XP-Pen products since I began drawing digitally around the age of 15. I bought a Star G430S that I purchased when I got my first computer, and while it does have its own glitches that it's developed recently, it still technically works better than the Artist 12 I got as a gift on the 10th of May. (I am now writing this review on the 9th of June.) It comes with all the wires and plugs you will need, as well as the tablet, pen, pen carrying container, a microfiber cloth, a drawing glove, and a manual to get started, all wrapped up in a beautiful case. In terms of how the tablet itself looks, it has a sleek and semi-thin design that is pretty lightweight in my opinion. There is a power-off button on the side, as well as 2 other buttons that increase and decrease brightness. On top of the tablet, there are 6 programmable function buttons and a scroll-slider, as well as the screen where the display is supposed to be. The Artist 12 worked great once I had all the proper connectors to hook the tablet up to my laptop and installed the correct driver, and while I had heard from a friend who had their own Artist 12 and claimed it could develop some issues, I disregarded them. Disregarded, that is, until 2 weeks later, when one of the panels on the screen starts flickering, and the next day the screen goes completely white without any possible way to fix it. Lo and behold, after some research into how to fix the white screen, this is a pretty common occurrence where the display stops working on the Artist 12, and the only solutions that there are to suggest, are to buy new cables or buy a new tablet. All I can really say is, thank goodness the tablet broke down completely on the last day I'm able to return it to Amazon. I'm going to purchase myself a shiny new tablet from a different company after this one gets refunded. If the fact that my tablet broke within a month after gentle care isn't enough to deter you from purchasing this product, here's my opinion on some of the features that I've been asked to rate. > Is the tablet good for beginners? (Rated 2/5 ★) A beginner wouldn't need something this complex, but if you are insistent on a more complex tablet like this one, most people are going to be able to figure it out. It comes with a manual in several languages and there aren't very many moving parts aside from plugging in cables. I would recommend something smaller and screen-less for beginners like the Star G430S, which can connect to a computer with just one USB port and doesn't even need the Pentablet driver to be installed to function. (Without the driver you will not have pen pressure, but I didn't use the driver for 3 years so whether you really need it, it's up to you). > How is the tablet's screen quality? (Rated 1/5 ★) The tablet comes with a brightness slider on the side, and while the screen is "small" in terms of screens, it's not a big hindrance, it's fine. I work close-up with my art to begin with, so there is not too much of a difference in screen quality in comparison to the laptop I use. I provide two photos of the tablet, one from when it was still working, showing off part of my desktop background. I would have no complaints for the screen quality, if not for the tablet's screen display breaking entirely. I provide a picture of it after it has broken, as well. > Is the tablet easy to use? (Rated 4/5 ★) Well, I'm certainly no rocket scientist. But you're gonna want to at least have a head on your shoulders when it comes to art tablets and art software, if you're buying a high-quality art tablet. Make sure all the cables are connected correctly and you have either set your display to "Duplicate" or "Extend" in your Settings. If your tablet is set to "Extend", the tablet is going to function as an extra monitor (with the ability to use the pen as a cursor or pen), so you will need to drag anything you want on the tablet screen from your original desktop. Make sure you download the Pentablet driver off the Xp-Pen website for the correct brand of tablet that you are purchasing. If you are still confused about setting up the tablet, go search for help on Youtube, or if you're that desperate, call Xp-Pen support. And remember, to all my younger art shoppers out there: a fancy art tablet does NOT automatically increase your art abilities. That takes time and practice. I attached one of my Dungeons & Dragons character concepts that I completed using my Artist 12 tablet and Clip Studio Paint Pro, just to show that I have used the product. Biggest Pro of the Product: I love the stylus's design. It's hexagonal so it doesn't roll away from you, and has its own carrying container (I'm a prone pen-loser so these features were heaven to me) and the eraser on the back was so handy. Biggest Con of the Product: It broke.
