  • Fantastic for short trips, exercise, and balance. Fun too.
First off, I've never rode a kick scooter until I bought this Xootr Cruz model. Have ridden ramp board 40 years ago on the streets. So, this review is coming from a beginner point of view. Read articles online that scooters were recommended for older folks. Yet where to get one that I could ride around the 400-pound range. Oddly the Xootr was the leader of search results. Read up on them, watched videos, and seen the 30-day challenge (so to speak). Wanted a handy vehicle for quick trips to the mailbox and be portable. Gave her a go. Initially I had serious balance issues from being a long hauler. That took a lot of determination. Resorted to watching YouTube Xootr and general kick scooter videos, that helped lots. Was soon riding on a slant... yet eventually became better. While I was so discouraged at first, yet I had I noticed my balance was improving later. Thus, the Xootr had a purpose past transportation. Stuck with learning to ride. It is basically a skateboard with a handle - although I do wish the handlebar's brake was for the rear wheel. Was only recently that I got out of the driveway onto the asphalt, as I live in a rural area. Asphalt is bumpier, less gliding between pushes, and a lot more exercise. Could feel the workout, not realizing I was also using muscles and coordination that I had forgotten. As for the kickstand issue. Well, this scooter is low to the ground so putting one underneath would only cause issues. The moon-shaped cut-out could facilitate an area to put a kickstand on. Have it retract forwards, to also act as a protection bumper. Also seen short 2x4 lumber cut out where the base would lie over. Am considering some ideas, yet I did find a very cheap solution. Found a small seasoning jar fits right under the deck. Will find me a mesh bag to carry items on the steering tube for mozzie repellent and offer a place to hold a deck support (for now). What I would like to see: • Rear handlebar brake option • Apple AirTag mount option for the oval steering tube. • Water bottle attachment for main steering tube • Adapters for main steering tube to add daytime flash lamps onto. • A fold down kick stand that attaches to the moon shaped cut-out area Pros: • Great exercise! Weight loss. • Helps to regain/ build a person's balance and coordination. • Excellent source for quick trips. • Easy to carry, ultra-portable. • Option for a carry strap, and a roomy bag. (Seen online) • Supporting up to 800 pounds. Verily! • Long glides on smooth surfaces. (In other words, awesome bearings.) • Excellent for people of all ages to stay in shape, even us older riders. • The cool factor. Cons: • No kickstand. Looks like a kickstand could be attached to the front moon-shaped cut-out area. • No place to attach a rear light on the fender without modification. Fender not very sturdy nor stiff. • Steering tube is circular, not oval like the main steering tube. An oval tube would keep the handlebars from twisting. • No secondary collar to prevent handlebar slippage. (Optional) • No water bottle mount on the main tube front. • Limited accessories • Handlebars could be a tad wider ... show more

  • Great but lots of vibration on certain road surfaces
I had the Roma xootr and also the dash and used it for a few years before getting this Cruz model recently. The reason I sold those and got the Cruz is because I was hoping the wood would lessen the vibration you get on certain roads (specifically the main highway road right by where I live). It MIGHT, ever so slightly, but not enough. So I tried a Knowped. I took the knowped on a kick biking trip for the afternoon, and I got too tired. The ride was much better, but the resistance of the rubber tires on that proved to be too much over a few hours of kicking. I tried an anti-vibration motorcycle grip on the Cruz, but it didn't lessen the vibration. On certain roads, the vibration really is annoying and takes away all enjoyment of riding. And I am in a huge city, there are plenty of roads where this vibration is quite an issue, it isn't just one freak bad road. So for commuting and usage, this may still be the best option, due to its speed and insane portability and easy of folding (by the way the new latching mechanism is 10x better than the old pin system). But it isn't ideal. They need to come out with an optional accessory to replace the grips with some kind of anti vibration grips. I think the wooden deck might offer enough of a vibration difference to justify buying this over the dash. ... show more

  • Xootr kick scooter
I enjoy it but handle bar would be better as a wider grip for adults.

  • Very sturdy build, smooth function, great exercise!
I just received this via UPS today. It came out of the box ready to use. The construction is reassuringly sturdy, what with me being a 200+ pound guy. I immediately took it out for a spin. I have never used a kick scooter before. It was a much heavier workout than I was expecting. Definitely going to have to get some running shoes, because the hiking boots I was wearing got heavy fast. My scooter is the Cruz model with the wood deck. I got that one because I liked the classic look of it. However, if I had to choose all over again, I think I might have gotten the Mg because of its lower deck. I learned quickly that a fraction of an inch closer to the ground will make kicking along a lot easier. I walk a lot, but this thing turned my legs to rubber in 5 minutes. Suspect experience will teach me to operate it with less effort. The folding mechanism works very smoothly. The handlebar raises and lowers smoothly. The rear stomp brake is pretty weak and is currently pretty awkward for me, but probably only because of lack of experience. The front handbrake doesn't operate as smoothly as what I am used to on bicycles, but it can brake strongly and will require some experience before I would want to try it going down a steep hill. The sturdiness of the build is very impressive. It accepts my weight without anything flexing at all. It went over cracks and uneven surfaces without it complaining under my weight. I don't think that I could seriously break this machine if I wanted to. It is rugged. Looking forward to nicer weather as Spring approaches because there are very nice bicycle trails nearby. ... show more
