This works great and should last a lifetime. The only weakness is the crossbar blade could be too low if the wood you’re splitting is very long. Because it splits great but if the wood is too long it can hit the ground before it totally splits. I’ve only had this issue occasionally but if I was designing it I’d make the crossbar blade taller from the base.

The media could not be loaded. My husband and I tried this out the other day. I was so excited to buy & use this! It’s pretty easy to use & very effective. It stabilizes the piece of wood so that you can split it. If you hit it at the right spot, it splits perfectly down the middle. It’s very useful for the fire pit or the fireplace. It’s a good size & fits big pieces of wood. It’s small enough to store easily.

I wrote a review for this and included photos but found that it's now blank. :( I will summarize: This kindling splitter arrived in the box but without any wrap, plastic, foam, etc. The condition was good, except for a bit of rust. The rust was taken care of with a little oil. The splitter works well and is a nice tool to have on hand for your backyard BBQ or firepit.

At first I was truly skeptical that this thing would work, but it ended up being a great asset for us. We are fulltime campers and our kid randomly goes with us. She loves to be just like her dad chopping wood. With this tool and being supervised she can help him "chop" wood with her hammer. This item is very well made and weighs 10.5 pounds. It can hold a log up to 11 inches in diameter. This is a great item to have if you need kindling or smaller chopped pieces. Would highly recommend.

I got this because on of my friends had one and I was amazed out little effort it to to split a log. This keeps it in place and with the few hits of a mallet splits it into a smaller piece to help burn better and faster! I don’t know why I waited so long and struggled the old fashioned way. Save time and struggle, this is the way to go!!!
