I’ll give this a five star because it’s heavy duty and metal. The steps aren’t plastic like the less expensive step ladders. I’ve already used it for cleaning ceiling fans and it seems pretty sturdy. The one drawback is the first step, the depth of the step is fine, the positioning is a little tight. My shins are against the top step while I stand on the lower one. I simply got tired of moving chairs around to reach into top shelves and cupboards. We do have a step-stool, but it's mostly rusty and covered in paint. In looking over the products available, this 3-Step Folding Ladder seemed to be the most sturdy - and in fact it is, and opens and closes so easily. When you open it, however, you have to pay attention to the top step, and make sure it goes all the way back. When I used it for the first time or two, I noticed that the top step moved slightly forward and back. When I opened it and closed it a couple times, I can see that the top step needed to be secured in place - a bit more than just opening it and begin to step up. With this done, the top step is quite secure. It works great, and most importantly, you feel secure standing on the top step, and putting a star on the tree. ... show more

I love this item! I have residual balance issues from spinal surgery, and I sometimes need to use a cane. I put this item to use within five minutes of opening up the box. It's wide enough for me to comfortably stand on it, plus it gets me high enough to change out lightbulbs in ceiling fixtures. I love the handrail at the top of the unit. I'm a big guy, and I also felt this unit was sturdy and solid. Also folds quite easily, and once folded, takes up little room. After researching quite a few two-step ladders that would handle my husband's 300 lbs, I settled on this one. The main reason was because the description said that it was very easy to open and close, and it is. I don't have much hand strength, so that's important to me. This ladder appears to be well-constructed, and I kind of like the black color. I like the handle because it helps me when I'm on the first step. However, it isn't tall enough to be of any help once I get on the second step, but it is useful in that it provides some balance. Also, it provides a nice padded backrest while sitting on the second step. BTW, I'm 5' 4", and my feet touch the floor when I'm sitting on it. I docked it one star because the first step doesn't stick out far enough, so I have to make sure I don't get my foot caught in it while getting up to the second step. Otherwise, I'm very happy with this ladder, and would recommend it to others. ... show more

When the product arrived I was super excited and wanted to try it out. I opened it and took it in the kitchen to try getting something out of the cupboard. The climb up was awesome! Sturdy, I felt secure. But on the way down, I felt it shift about 1 inch and the side bars bend. It might be fine for a light person but I weigh 285. I bought this because its rated to 330 lbs. I love this ladder and wish I'd bought it ages ago. It is sturdy and easy to open and close, and is slim and compact when folded. I especially like the bar at the top for support when climbing up and down. This item has some heft to it, because it's all metal and not flimsy plastic. But just as a forewarning, this could be an issue for anyone who has difficulty managing a weightier item, although the tradeoff is in having something so stable and reliable. ... show more

    • Great Compact Folding Ladder

We had to replace the non-folding step stool we'd been using in our kitchen because after replacing our stacked washer and dryer with an unstacked set, we had to move our trash can to where the step stool was. So I needed a compact folding stool that would fit next to my refrigerator. I initially bought a four-step stool which I thought would also replace our 4-foot ladder. It does, and it's great for that purpose, but it's very heavy and not something I want to take out every time I need something on an upper shelf in the kitchen. So I went looking for a two-step stool. I preferred black, because our counters and cabinets are dark. I also wanted a stool that has a bar to hold onto for balance. This stool's bar is curved and padded, so I think it would also be usable as an extra seat, although I haven't tried that. The curved bar does mean that the stool doesn't fold quite as flat as others do, but It certainly fits fine in the space I have next to my refrigerator. The stool's steps are very wide and the stool is very stable. The top step is 18" high, which is four inches higher than my old stool so it enables me to reach higher shelves than I did before. At 5'1" I use a stool a lot! However, the stool is a bit heavier than I thought it would be. So this one ticked all the boxes for me! ... show more
