Like most of you, searching for a next gen GPU just to get the best performance we can for the hard earned dollar that we spend. I've been eye balling this and the 4070ti for some time and while I'm seeing similar results in benchmarks, I ultimately went for this due to two things - VRAM and price. Now that this card hit the $720 range(as of 7/9/23), this is about as much as I'm comfortable in spending on an upgrade. Did I need to? Not really, but my RTX 3070 was doing good, it wasn't exceptional. This has put my computer back into the stratosphere, limited only by the hz of my beautiful 3440x1440 monitor. My 3070 average fps @ 3440x1440: RDR2 - 50 to 70 (medium to high) Hogwarts Legacy 50 to 70(medium to high) BF2042 - 60 to 80 (medium to high) Diablo 4 - 100 to 120 (high with DLSS quality) 7900xt at 3440x1440p - capped at 120hz monitor RDR2 - 90 to 110(Ultra) Hogwarts - 110 to 120(Ultra) Diablo 4 - 120(ultra) Bf2042 - 100 to 110 (Ultra) You could say I didn't need to upgrade, as my 3070 was powerful enough for anything I threw at it, but I did have to drop settings and I started getting some nasty stuttering due to the 8GB VRAM. I'm now with a +40% boost AND maxed settings, with the stuttering gone on everything. Very happy with this purchase and so will my 14 year old son as he's getting the 3070. One large(pun intended) negative is the size - this thing is definitely the largest GPU you'll have used in your case. I'm using an NZXT H510i and it BARELY fit - I couldn't even use the Z-support bar that came with the card. I'll have to purchase a vertical bar to keep it from sagging. Overall - if you can get this card for $700-$720 - I'd say it's a very good buy. Install was a breeze and the AMD drivers went just as well. Pros: Cooling - stays around the 60s temps. Sound - can't hear it - no coil whine at all. Price - MSRP is where the 3080 used to be at, with about a 25% gain in performance. VRAM - 20 gigs! Software - Never did I think to say it, but I dig the AMD software over Nvidia's. Cons: VERY large - make sure you can stuff a 13.5 inch card in your case - add probably another inch with the zbar TDP - expect this thing to consistently draw 350ish watts at stock settings Get it! Specs: 850w EVGA PSU Ryzen 9 5900X @4.6 All Cores 32 GB DDR4 3600mhz Corsair LPX XFX RX 7900XT Black BTW - excuse the wiring in my pic - I'll fix it later

This is a great GPU. itâs the most premium version of the 7900 XT from XFX, and arguably the best version of the 7900 XT that youâll find manufactured by anyone. I typically run games at 1440p but it handles 4K very well when I do. At 1440p it runs almost everything at native Max/Ultra settings and maintains 120+ FPS, even intensive games with mandatory ray tracing like Indiana Jones the Great Circle. However, you really need to have ray tracing set to lowest possible. Kick in path tracing in games like Alan Wake 2 or Cyberpunk and youâll drop below 30 frames, itâs just a limitation youâll find on RDNA3 GPUs, and shouldnât be a surprise. Playing native 4K games without RT/PT, I generally get around 60 FPS at least Using AMD Adrenaline for drivers and customization of the clock speed and other things is a breeze and allows for easy overclock and undervolting. It also looks great. IMO XFX tends to be a bit on the flashier side with many models. This one, the Black version is more refined and just looks like itâs a solid device without any flash needed. Aluminum backplate and small LED XFX logo. Refined not flashy. It also stays nice and cool. Even under heavy load itâs always stayed under 70 with a hotspot max only ever reaching 81 or so. Typically itâs around 65 c (not hotspot). Also XFX gets some flak for being loud, and I agree because a 6750 XT I have is loud, but this is not. No coil whine or excessive fan noise. Overall this is a premium quality GPU and excels in pretty much all aspects.

I upgraded from an Acer Predator Intel Arc A770 to the 7900XT Black and it's a whole new experience. Very good in 4K at well above 60 FPS, I can't do more than that since my monitor is limited to 60. Laughs at everything I throw at it. It is rather large though, if your case is anything smaller than a full tower beware. It is also very heavy but I have it vertically mounted so that's not an issue. It often exceeds 350W, I see it regularly hitting 380W power draw, but the beefy cooler keeps it under 60C most of the time, never saw it pass 63 degrees. Not a whole lot in terms of coil whine or fan noise and if you're not gaming or doing anything that requires GPU muscle, fans completely stop. I have not used any RTX card so can't speak to how it compares, there are plenty of reviews and comparisons out there, I can speak for my own experience, it's an absolute monster.

This card is awesome! I purchased this card a few years ago and it's still running strong! I used to be a Nividia fan since 2012. With their new cards being overpriced and hard to find, I picked one of these up to try. Out of the box, It works very well. The noise level is a little on the high side but you can easily get used to it. I did do some extra overclocking but that's because I do a lot of 3D texturing and modeling. Gaming wise, it runs ever game on ultra graphics at 2k resolution flawlessly at 165 fps. It does struggle a little with ray tracing enabled but you an easily tweak the card's settings in the AMD adrenalin control panel. I highly recommend this card for anyone looking for an affordable card!

Bought the 7900 XT a couple months ago and i love it so far. Built a whole new system, upgrading from the one i built near 7 years ago. Paired this card up with my Ryzen 7900X and it works flawlessly. Upgraded from my Ryzen 1700 with a GTX 1070, so was a fairly substantial upgrade. I kept waiting and waiting for the GPU market to stop being crazy and finally i put down the money build a new system so i could give my old one to my little brother. Glad i did. Was a little scary to jump ship off of nVidia, but with how anti-consumer the green team is i decided to try out team red. There were a couple of things to get used to from switching sides, but overall not a big deal. I love the driver software. Non-invasive, unlike Nvidia's geforce experience. I should not have to log in just so i can install drivers. At the end of the day you get roughly the rasterization power of a 4080, but at 400 dollars cheaper of a price tag. If you care about ray tracing it does an alright job, roughly around a 4070. I dont NEEEEEED ray tracing, but even with it at max it runs just fine at 1440p. Plus with FSR 3, if you turn it on, it runs even better. AMD also has Fluid Frame generation now and it truly does work with all DX 11 + games and it can give you twice or more frames. Truly AMD is more consumer friendly than nvidia. Hell even my old 1070 can use FSR 3 if the game supports FSR 3.

I love the look and feel of this graphic card. It's very nice and professional looking, which is rare, no RGB puke everywhere. Unfortunately, that's where the good parts end. This GPU causes hard freezes while idling. The no recovery type of freezing. It kills the system requiring a hard reboot. Simply watching YT videos and the like. And its frequent. I've wasted way too much time on this. It an AMD driver issue. With workarounds being Disable FreeSync (an AMD invention) and/or disable hardware acceleration in the browser. If you're buying this GPU, you want high variable refresh rate support. Disable AMD VRR technology to use an AMD GPU? Don't use hardware acceleration that an iGPU can handle? Ridiculous. Dead weight until AMD fixes driver issues. Do not buy.

It works very well for games, unless of course that game has ray-tracing enabled which is no surprise that AMD is behind on. It still run this up to ~340W inferno with fans maxed out. Otherwise it stays within acceptable power range and stays relatively cool. I would suggest setting up a custom semi-aggressive fan curve and disabling zero-RPM while gaming for longevity. It runs 2 IPS ultra gear 1440p@144hz monitors perfectly, image quality is great. For things like AI, again, AMD is behind the curve it's frustrating setting up non-ROCM drivers on windows and getting low performance for things like Stable Diffusion. The card itself is very large and heavy, but is accompanied with an anti-sag bracket that is hefty and sturdy. So overall for gaming I would say 4 stars, if you're on linux maybe 3 stars with ROCm for SD, and windows you might as well go team green if you want any AI performance.
