  • I finally understand what all the hype was about
Style: Single
I've been a dedicated PlayStation user for many years, but I decided I wanted to see what X box was all about so I gave in and got one. I see now why people love it. I love just about everything about this game system--except that the remote require actual batteries and does not come as a standard rechargeable. That actually seems not only silly to me, but perhaps even prehistoric. Otherwise, the games are great, and having the Game Pass and Live Gold is great too. I wanted to try those services out and now I can see that I really do want them. The X Box itself has some really great functionality, is easy to set up even for a technology numpty like me and I like the design and build of it. There are a great range of games available for the whole family, so as a parent, I like that as well. I'm no longer sure that Playstation is it for me. We will see what happens in the future of gaming, but I have to say, I'm impressed with the X Box. ... show more

  • Excellent console for a great price
Style: Single
At $250 or less, this really feels like a bargain. It's better in many ways than the original Xbox One, and the 1 TB of storage by default is excellent. I waited until now to jump on the Xbox One train, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. My first console had a fan that made a ticking noise. It was quiet, but I could hear it while sitting on my couch in a quiet room and I was worried it may decrease the life of the fan or cause me to have to void my warranty to replace it. So I replaced my console with Amazon. The new one actually has a similar issue, but it's much quieter, nearly inaudible, so I decided to keep this one. It's hard to complain because the normal fan noise of most consoles would overpower the clicking sound easily--it's just that the Xbox One S's fan is so quiet that the clicking is all I hear at times. ... show more

  • I had zero issues and love it!
Style: Single
I bought mine at the end of December, because I missed that “before Xmas sale” where Xbox one S consoles were only $200. (I think this at the time was like $230 or something). When it arrived it had a puncture in the side of the box, which at first I was nervous about. And then reading more reviews it apparently is the reason this is cheaper than retail (I missed it, but i guess these are “damaged packaging but new” or something), or at least a better deal if you’re not interested in the games they bundle with it. When I pulled the contents of the box out, it was obvious that the styrofoam protected everything inside just fine and I no longer was worried. And I can honestly say that nearly 7 months later it works like a charm, I’ve played about 10 games on it so far and have zero complaints and am 100% satisfied with my purchase. It does come with a card that has redeemable codes on each side: one for 3 months of game pass and the other side for 3 months of Xbox lIve gold. The game pass code has an expiration date (in fact it was Dec 31st 2018, which was only 2 days after I had bought this thing). I didn’t realize this right away, and on Jan 4th or 5th I was able to redeem the “expired” code without any issue whatsoever. The other side, the Xbox Live Gold side, did not have an expiration date and I only redeemed that a month or two ago, I don’t really use it. GamePass is awesome though, if you play regularly it’s not a bad deal. Also, great thing is that these codes don’t require a subscription, once your 3 months is up they run out and you have to manually go pay for more months. I liked that. No unexpected charges. ... show more

  • Great Console
Style: Single
This is the best console for the this price you can't beat it 4k gaming and movies at it's best. My Son was a bit unhappy when i told him it is the One S and not the one X after a few mintues of game play my Son said Dad wow this is great and wirh Xbox Gold for online play he and his friends play Mortal Kombat 11 online daily. My advice get this console you won't regret it puts a Ps4 pro to shame with backwards playing it's good to go with xbox one and 360 games. You may read some people say the free trial codes for xbox live gold and game pass have expired but they haven't the codes work fine. ... show more

  • Just don't buy an XBox One. Just don't.
Style: Single
I knew when I decided to buy an XBox One that there wasn't much reason to. Few exclusives, the exclusives that exist aren't very strong compared to Sony or Nintendo who have tons of A+ exclusives. I was like whatever, I like Halo and Gears of War a lot it'll be fine. Wrong. Online multiplayer works fine when I play with anyone but my IRL friend who plays XBox the most. Microsoft was no help with that at all. I thought the next Halo game would be out in 2019, but apparently it's coming out next year for Microsoft's next console? I bought the MasterChief collection.... like a month before they announced it coming to Steam on PC. Gears 5 came to Steam on PC. What's the point of owning an XBox One? I'm glad Microsoft finally put some games on PC but it's like why did I pay for the console? Not only that but I foolishly bought a couple games on disc when I bought the console... the discs have like 10 Gb of the game and require a 50 Gb download anyway, then you need to keep the disc in the console to play the game. Why even sell discs if I have to download 3/4 of the game anyway? The only upside is that the controllers work well with PC (with the adapter that was sold separately!). They have an XBox app on Windows now that lets you stream from the console to your PC so you can just use one screen for both PC and XBox which is kinda nice but it's too little too late. ... show more
