This is the epitome of plug n play. It plugs right into an Xbox One, but you need an adaptor to plug it into an Xbox One S. You can get a free adaptor from Microsoft if you also have an Xbox One. There is a form on Microsoft's Xbox website. It takes some monkeying around in the settings to get it to recognize you, but well worth. I can turn on the box by simply saying "Hey, Cortana, Xbox on". When I step in front of the Kinect, it automatically signs me in. I'm still finding out new things it can do. When I'm playing Forza Horizons 3 the ingame GPS will answer me when I ask it to send me to the next race. Very Cool! ... show more

I don't own an Xbox but with the right adapter I'm using this to affordably capture digital 3D objects of family and friends for my Windows 10 PC. This enables me to create all kinds of personalized gifts using their 3D likeness and print them out on my 3D printers, like drinking mugs, PEZ dispensers, dolls and masks. Real professional depth sensors can cost thousands of dollars, and this works just as well. I can also use it as a webcam for zoom meetings. No issues in over three years of heavy use and hundreds of scans. I'm confused about other reviews complaining about the adapter costing $300. I purchased both the Kinect and the adapter for about $120 total price in May of 2017 and I see the adapter currently listed as low as $21 on Amazon. ... show more

Nice, but... when the hardware and software used in the XBox One Kinect Sensors works it's among the best motion capture devices at the best price you can buy; but... caution if you have a PC with unsupported USB 3.1 Controllers because even a working XBox One Kinect Controller might not work. As Microsoft no longer even supports the hardware and software for these Kinect Sensors you are on your own sifting through support sites looking for a solution if your Kinect Sensor doesn't work on your PC. If you do have an XBox One that you can test it one locally before you test on your PC then at least you can isolate the problem to your PC's USB 3.1 Controller or the way the software on your PC is installed and configured. Product is good if you have the supported HW & SW to use it but caution as even that is officially unsupported by Microsoft in 2021. ... show more

    • The old "Xbox" command is infinitely superior than "Hey Cortana"
Its use in the Xbox Dashboard has progressively shrunk and shrunk (I still think removing gesture support is one of the dumbest things they ever did). MS continues to seem to remove voice commands and functionality with every major update. Pro tip: Immediately go into your settings and turn Cortana off. The old "Xbox" command is infinitely superior than "Hey Cortana". No idea why. You'd think the only difference would be the wake word/phrase, but the differences in understanding and following your commands between the two words/phrases is massive. "Hey Cortana" is hot trash. "Xbox" is far more reliable, and "Hey Cortana" often does not offer basic functionality (pause, play, etc) on apps/screens that "Xbox" does. The incompetency of these teams at Microsoft are astounding when you know what the average salary is over there. lol. As for actual uses...turning your Xbox on, playing/pausing media, taking screenshots/clips. Is that worth the price? Only you can say. Oh, I do occasionally use it for Skype, otherwise the camera is useless. It used to be somewhat usable to navigate via the "Xbox select" command, but at some point recently...mine now literally has a zero percent success rate of understanding "select" and instead has a 99% success rate of assuming I want to start a Party. lol. I mean...I have literally talked out each word in that phrase like I'm talking to an autistic kid and still...no exaggeration...zero percent success rate. It used to work quite well, however. Oddly, it still works with "Hey Cortana", but "Hey Cortana" is such hot trash at virtually everything else, I just stick with "Xbox" and do without "Xbox Select". An actual up to date list of what it can actually do and respond to? I don't think that exists anywhere. MS' own help files on the Xbox website certainly don't help in that regard, and virtually every list I've seen in the first few pages of Google search results are woefully out of date, mainly because-again-MS has removed bits and pieces of functionality with every major Xbox update, and most of those lists were written before many of the past few years of updates. ... show more

this is actually the first time I own Xbox One Kinect for myself because I always wanted to play all the new Xbox One Kinect games and it really does sucks that Microsoft doesn't care about kinect anymore it really has so much potential and it really does work flawlessly with Cortana just make sure your room is silent because if you have too much noise in the background it will not function properly so far I have no problems with it I have been using it since I got it for Christmas 2017 so far so good ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘ but for those who are reading my review just a fair warning they have officially killed Xbox One Kinect adapter it's not even in their official website anymore the only way you can get it is through 3rd party websites or retail stores๐Ÿ˜ข so if you are planning on getting Xbox One S or X Amazon is your safest bet that is all you need to know ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘ ... show more
