Therefore, if you are operating a drone with a take-off weight of 0.55 pounds or less (less than 250 grams) for purely recreational purposes, you may not need to register your drone and comply with the Remote ID rule. Please visit the FAA's official website for requirements related to drone registration and Remote ID. However, for the latest aircraft firmware, the Remote ID will only be activated when the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus is used. This thing rocks in every way. I was never into drones, but putty my house on the market and needed drone shots of the land. One guy quoted me $150 for just pictures. I was like heck I can buy a drone and learn to fly it for less than that. I got one of those cheapy no name ones on here for like $80 well you get what you pay for. It wouldn't stay connected to take pics would blow around with the wind sent it back. Said forget it spend the money buy the good stuff. It cost about 10x as much but was worth every cent. This thing is amazing. Pictures are gorgeous. Super easy to fly and figure out. Doing the test run with the cheapy one probably didn't hurt any though. But this dji mini 3 is spectacular. My only gripes about it which may be theyll change on future versions. 1. I wish you could zoom out the camera, yes you can fly further away but I was scared to take it that far first run or that high. 2. I wish you could record and take pics while recording like you can do on some cell phones. If there is a way to do this I couldn't figure it out. 3. It's got this booster pack to charge 3 batteries, but it will only charge them one at a time and with a USB cord, you have to provide your own plug. For this much money it should come with a plug, or even better straight plug to an outlet and charge all 3 at once. Some tips, watch a YouTube video or two of starting out. Do not plan to use it the day you get it. All the batteries need to charge up to become active (probably overnight) and you have to set up an account, register stuff, downloads firm ware updates and install them. So set up to start takes maybe an hour and first charge of all the batteries and remote like 6-8 hours, I forget how long. But you're not going to open it up and go fly so just a heads up there. Great drone. Period. Once you learn how the remote works and how to fly the drone, you will appreciate it very much. Flies well and is very very stable maneuvers wonderfully and takes great photos – even has a zoom lens. If you are looking in this price range, buy it – it is worth it.

I have tried serveal brands and models of drones and they all let me down with empty promises. NOW DJI has beyond passed what they offer. The flying of this drone is amazing, stable, and well balanced, I can fly for 1 hour with the 3 batteries which is good for a drone. The video quality, and pictures are AMAZING! The media could not be loaded. Great video quality, relatively easy to fly and very modifiable button layouts to ease the learning curve. Right out of box and flew around first day without much difficulty. Did have some issues deciphering transferring videos/ photos off the drone and to a shareable device however there are videos galore on various social media platforms. The attached video is my first flight. For me, it was worth the money. In retrospect I probably would have splurged for one with more onboard sensors to prevent hitting branches or other obstacles, would have made it more difficult to have accidents but seems sturdy and haven’t had any issues to date. I've had a few lower end drones which got me really interested in the hobby. For a smaller drone it hadles wind really good and it is surprislingly quiet. Flys waaay better than my other drones. I do suggest flying a couple cheap $20-$30 drones before getting this one to get your skills and confidence up and to see if you really like flying drones. Although many consider this a beginner drone, a few hundred $$ is nothing to sneeze at for many of us and you would hate to crash this on your first flight. ... show more

Good: It is a great beginner drone Better than the Costco deal Controller is beautiful and easier to use than the one where the phone attaches Everything you need to get flying, except the memory card Easy to fly. Bad: This might be me, but I spent about a week thinking that this was a Mini 3 Pro, but I should have looked more at the description, so I returned it. No obstacle avoidance, so watch where you fly The controller is the older RC controller Notable: Make sure you know how to fly a drone. Get the B4Ufly app on Google and the Apple store. It will warn you if the President is in town and UAS (government for "drone") and drone flying is illegal via TFR. This isn't a political comment; this is for every presidential visit, and approx: 35 miles from where s/he will be. Also, get the proper memory card. I had some laying around that were not the speed needed, and the drone refused to use them. I suppose that's a good thing. I got this for a Birth-Mas (my birthday is around Christmas, so I get a large present for both), and I originally got the Costco package, but this one is much better for the same price, as it includes the better controller for the same price at the expense of the $8 memory (64GB) card. If I were looking for a DJI Mini 3, I would get this package in a heartbeat.
