With all the embargo noise surrounding DJI, I was originally planning to buy either a DJI Mavic or a DJI Mini 4 Pro. Then I came across the Skyrover X1. My biggest concern was whether I’d be able to find replacement parts and accessories, but that turned out to be a non-issue. I already own a DJI Avata 2 and a DJI Neo, and I wanted something with a different gimbal system. The Skyrover X1 has not disappointed. After doing my homework online, I found that the X1 performs almost identically to the DJI Mini 4 Pro. The DJI version is a little more polished, but this one holds its own. I’ve had it for over a week now and have put in about 15 hours of flight time. The fixed gimbal (floating fixed gimbal) is the standout feature. It keeps the camera level when filming buildings or subjects, unlike my Avata 2 or Neo, which tend to tilt slightly. This feature alone has taken my photography and video work up a notch. It’s also a lot of fun to fly. Coming from using FPV goggles on the Avata 2, it took a little getting used to flying with a tablet or phone, but now it feels natural. The video quality is sharp, the flight is stable, and the battery life with the Fly More Combo gives me plenty of airtime. The biggest advantage, though, is availability. If the DJI embargo ever goes into full effect, the Skyrover X1 is one of the few drones you’ll still be able to buy and support with parts. That makes it not just a great performer, but also a smart long-term investment. Nov 30, 2025 Update Add-On Review (Follow-Up After Several Weeks of Use) I wanted to follow up on my original review after having a small crash with my Skyrover X1. One of the feet came off, which worried me at first because I’d read a few online reviews saying Skyrover’s customer service was slow or unhelpful. Some reviewers even mentioned having the exact same issue I did. My experience was the complete opposite. I emailed Skyrover support (that’s the only way to reach them), and they responded quickly. We went back and forth a couple of times to troubleshoot, and within two days I had a package with four replacement feet—two for each side of the fold-out landing legs. They didn’t charge me for the parts, which honestly surprised me. No instructions were included, but the fix was easy. Within minutes, I had the drone back together and flying perfectly. I don’t know why other people had trouble, but Skyrover was extremely easy to work with and very responsive. The only thing missing is a way to talk directly with a technician, but their email support handled everything just fine. At this point, I’m even more impressed with the Skyrover X1. It’s become one of my main photography drones. It’s fun to fly, stable, and reliable. I still think it’s a clone of the DJI Mini 4 Pro, but it performs just as well for what I do—and now I know the company stands behind their product too.

I am absolutely thrilled with the SKYROVER X1 Drone. The 4K video at 60fps and 8K photo capabilities deliver stunningly crisp, professional-grade imagery that completely exceeded my expectations. The 360° obstacle avoidance provides incredible peace of mind during complex maneuvers, and the vertical shooting feature is a massive plus for modern content creation. Would give it 3.5 stars if i could, as it’s still a great drone, however around after two weeks of use one of the gimbals on the controller started to jiggle a bit, which was annoying and the screw inside the gimbal is too small to retighten. On the topic of screws the propeller screws are extremely hard to loosen. I had to pry away half the broken propeller use a hair dryer to soften it up and finally use pliers to remove the screw. Also the obstacle avoidance is not the best as it says. Ran it into a tiny tree branch 70ft up while in normal mode with the camera pointed straight down and thats why i don’t have it anymore. However, still good sensing for a drone thats a good $100 cheaper than DJI’s M4P. One more slight con is that at a range around 500ft away the video will occasionally freeze for a second, but it isnt much of an issue it’ll reconnect in less than a second. Now for the pros, it’s cheap, versatile, fast, captures great photos and videos, and doesn’t require registration. The pouch and extra props and screws are great inclusions that I found myself using quite a bit. (at least the pouch) The drone also works decently well in light to medium rain however the obstacle avoidance might struggle a bit. Also this thing is built tough. It survived running into a wall at 30mph with minimal propeller damage, running into a tree in the dead of night and falling into snow, and only when it fell from 70ft up (that’s around 6 stories up for comparison) did an arm finally snap. TLDR it’s not DJI but it’s darn close enough and really good for the price.

This is my first drone so please take what I say with a grain of salt if you are an expert. The SKYROVER X1 truly came out of "nowhere" which you'll quickly find out if you try to find reviews and info on the drone it self. The price point truly adds to that mystery but I wanted a drone and DJI's future is quite questionable and everything else seems like a toy. I had my doubts about this drone but Amazon's return policy truly made me feel comfortable trying it out. This drone truly made my first experience feel unique and special, being a complete beginner. The drone was easy to understand and very easy to fly, albeit the learning curve is there to get familiar with the controls. I haven't run into any issues with the wind yet luckily these couple days the wind has been good but to be fair I haven't really been testing it so I can say that unless the wind is blowing you around there is a good chance this drone will do OK with the wind resistance of level 5. Now this is the part I'm truly grateful. DURABILITY!!!! oh man I flew this thing in my house the first time and the first thing I noticed was how quite the thing is! OMG every videos seems to sound like the drone is literally holding the mic on their props, even this one but when you try it out in person it's mind blowing. I crashed this drone 20 minutes into unboxing it and broke 2 props, then crashed it again and broke one, then one more time and broke another. Drone was fine. I ran it into some branches where it fell like 8 feet and was fine as well and surprisingly the props did not break that time. The one concern I have with this unit is that the clips on the front arms tend to fly off when impact and as you can see from others reviews it's quite common but I've only dropped mine twice, once inside the house and a second time outside and again that was from impact. overall I want to see this company succeed so we can see more of their products on amazon. I am looking forward to more Skyrover product especially FPV if they ever go that route.

I was a little worried about quality and performance but the construction was perfect and it flew right out of the box and was super stable. The X1 drone and the Skyrover app are almost identical to DJI's mini 4 pro and fly app. Signal/range seems to be very good. Obstacle avoidance stops the drone when it sees something in the way and tells you the distance. I have not played with the tracking features or quick shots yet. Camera image is awesome and the gimbal is flawless. My only complaint would be that the manual does not go into enough depth on the features and online reviews are more "here is what it can do" and less "this is how you do it". Just means I need to figure it out myself instead of looking it up which is fine.
