  • Fantastic!
I love this cutter. It has done everything I’ve thrown at it so far & fairly accurately. Couple things to keep in mind when you get yours - it’s going to come with the handle on backwards so it doesn’t get snapped off in shipping - use the allen wrench that is in the tool box and use that to unscrew and turn the handle around. The handle will feel stuck, & it is because it’s locked - push or pull (depending on your orientation to it) gently away or towards yourself and make sure the lock position is not engaged. You will now be able to move the handle. Do not push the blade hard into the rubber mat because you can damage it. Great deal on a great device. ... show more

  • My son is over the moon with this!
He has taken up bookbinding and says this is the very thing. It performs exactly as described. I’ve seen the books, and the cuts are perfectly clean and professional.

  • Great device if you are strong enough to lift it...
This device is very big, very heavy, very strong and works very well. I highly recommend it if you have enough room to store it.

  • Incredible Paper Cutter Incredible Paper Cutter
This paper cutter is incredible. I don’t use it to its fullest extent, but it impresses me every time I do use it. I’m a teacher, and I’m cutting stacks of paper every single week. The most I’ve cut at once is around 300, and it cut through like butter. It makes clean and straight cuts on as few or many pieces of paper as I need. It’s incredibly easy to use, and it seems like it’s going to last for many years. It’s made of thick, strong metal, and it’s a hefty piece of equipment. It’s heavy enough that you’ll want to find a place for it to live permanently. While I am giving it 5 stars, there are two things I wish were improved. 1) The paper stop is a little finicky. It only screws in at one spot, and it can be wiggly. As long as you’re not pressing into it, it’ll stay in its place, but it’s something to be mindful of. 2) I wish there were more safety features. It has a latch for the blade to remain stationary, but it’s at the top position. It’s relatively unlikely, but someone could easily cut themselves on the blade in this position. My solution to this at the school is to keep the lifting arm extension separated. When separate, it is very hard to move the blade, even for a relatively young and strong guy. Kids would have an incredibly hard time moving it. ... show more

  • Directions are terrible and design is odd but once you figure it out, it works well
I got this paper cutter for home use. I already have a standard paper cutter, but what intrigued me about this was its ability to cut fabric, as I do a lot of sewing and cutting fabric is one of the most tedious parts of the process. The set up on this was confusing, not only because the machine is not intuitive but also because the directions are written in terrible English. If you have already used this style cutter before it might not be hard but it took me a solid half hour to get it functioning. For such a high quality (and price) product, I wish they would have made the manual easier to understand. While this does have inches on the grid, it seems to be styled more for European paper as the grid makes reference to A4, B5, etc paper sizes without reference to standard American sizes like letter (8.5x11in), legal (8.5x14in), etc. This is big enough to handle standard scrapbooking sized paper. The safety lock took some time to figure out as well. I do wish there was an option to lock in the down position, which seems safer, as it is designed it can only lock in the upright position which has the downside that the handle is sticking up high. Another thing I don't like is that the handle doesn't screw on or anything, it is just loose and can come off at any time. Keep in mind that this is very heavy, over 30lbs, which means it really needs a dedicated place on a table somewhere. This is tricky for me because with little kids around the house, I need to put this away when it is not in use. I also have two random pieces that were in the box but I can't figure out where they go and the directions do not make reference to them. When it comes to functionality, though, this thing shines. It does not cut quickly because it is designed to do large stacks at once, so you need to take time to line it up, and the blade is not easily visibly (for safety reasons) so you need to be careful in positioning. For cutting a few papers here or there, this is not the machine you want but you probably wouldn't invest this much for a few papers here or there. It has done a great job on all the fabric I have tried in it thus far. I have tried a stack of felt up to 10 sheets and it cut through with absolutely no problem. I didn't see that the listing said "non-woven fabric" until after it arrived but I have also tried this on standard quilting fabric (which is woven) and it also worked great. It produced nice, sharp, clean lines and barely any effort to push the cutting handle bar down. I am starting to get into quilting and I am excited about the idea of how much time this might end up saving me with cutting. I also tried cutting cardboard and same result: a clean cut with minimal effort. All in all, the design on this is wanting, as are the directions, but it is indeed a high quality cutter and does its job well once you figure it out. ... show more

  • Amazing paper cutter. Cuts real smooth and without any effort. Amazing paper cutter. Cuts real smooth and without any effort.
I am a small business owner. I package and ship out orders every single day. Having a paper cutter has been a staple for me. I’ve used the same style / same brand paper cutter for about ten years now. It’s a “Boston #26915 15” Trimmer”. (Guillotine style, as well). Honestly, I thought it was ok. I mean, it did what it was supposed to do. I never had anything to compare it to though. I never had any major issues with it. Cutting cardboard with it did prove to be difficult at times though. You actually had to use good arm strength with it. There were also times that I’d have to cut twice for the blade to go all the way through; especially for thicker cardboard. I saw this paper cutter pop up on Amazon Vine and figured I’d give it a try. To say I’m impressed with it is an understatement. My only con is figuring out how to work it was a bit confusing to me. I didn’t understand how the hand crank worked. It comes installed one way, but you need to remove the bolt and turn it around and secure the bolt back on. (Doing this, lifts the plate up; where you slide the paper through to get cut.) Once I figured that out, it was smooth sailing. The first time I used it, I didn’t even realize it had cut through the paper; I did a few sheets. Honestly, I thought I had done something wrong. When I realized it had in fact cut through paper, I was shocked. I then tried a piece of cardboard. It was the same outcome…. Barely noticeable. For lack of better words, this thing literally cuts like a hot knife through butter. My seven year old helps me cut cardboard, occasionally. When using the old cutter, he’d need to use both arms to get it to cut through. Obviously, a child does not have the same strength as an adult. I had him try this one the other day. When he first grabbed the bar, he grabbed it with two hands. I told him to try just one and he did. His reaction was the same as mine…. He had cut through the cardboard (WITHOUT ANY EFFORT), and he didn’t even realize it. The look on his face when he saw the cardboard had been cut was priceless. He tried another one and it was the same thing. It was super easy for him to cut and he did so without any arm strength. My only gripe is it’s pretty heavy. Obviously, as long as you have it in one set spot, you don’t need to worry about how heavy it is. I’m used to sliding the old one closer to the edge of the table when I need to cut things and then sliding it back into its normal spot. With this one I can’t do that (it’s got anti-slip grip feet on the bottom; making it hard to slide across the table). There are two safety aspects to this cutter. The first is a small black push style button. This releases the arm / blade from the upright position. The second safety aspect is the clear blue acrylic piece that slides in right next to the blade. This protects fingers from accidentally getting cut. I really like this paper cutter. I’m very happy I got it. I feel it’s 100% worth the money. ... show more

  • A Professional-Level Paper Cutter
When it called it "heavy duty," it wasn't kidding. This is a solid machine that can cut 400 sheets at once. That probably exceeds the needs of the average home crafter, unless you are making handmade books or starting up a small business mass-producing some things. It's quite impressive (and quite heavy too). You need a dedicated space for it with a sturdy table. Besides cutting paper, it can cut leather, vinyl, and cardboard. Over time, the blade can become dull, but a professional knife sharpener can fix that or there are replacement blades you can order. There's a clamp that you tighten before cutting a stack of paper. That ensures the paper does not shift as the blade cuts through. This gives you an accurate cut. Given the quality of this paper cutter and the quantity it can cut, it far exceeds the ability of a paper cutter from a local craft store. I say it is well worth the price for such a solid, accurate machine. When I checked to see how it compared to other heavy-duty paper cutters, this one was ranked among the top ones. ... show more

  • HEAVY DUTY!! HEAVY DUTY!!
This is truly a heavy-duty paper cutter. It's not your typical home guillotine-style cutter or even what you would typically find in most office settings. This is a manual version of the type of cutter that my buddy used to use in his commercial print shop. It weighs in at close to 35 pounds, so it really deserves its own separate table. Because of the additional steps required to set it up, most people would not find it very convenient for typical home use, but if you have a lot of paper to cut, this is definitely the way to go. It is rated at 400 sheets. The pictures and video show me cutting 50 sheets. I have no doubt that it would do several hundred with equal ease. The instructions were written by someone who is not a native English speaker and are nearly incomprehensible; however, the pictures are pretty much self-explanatory. The way this unit is able to cut so many sheets is that the paper is first compressed in an anvil. This prevents any movement. The cutting blade then comes down at an angle with a slicing motion, enabling it to cut through the entire stack of papers. When you unbox it, the first thing that you have to do is remove the handle crank from its stowed position. This is done with a 5/32 hex wrench. Reverse the handle so that it is pointing away from the cutter and reattach it. This will now enable you to raise and lower the anvil. The cutting guide on the left side of the bed is reasonably stable and easily adjusted. The first thing you do is set the cutting guide to the width that you want. Next, you put your stack of paper in and slip the edge under the anvil. Crank the anvil down to compress everything. The cutting handle just slides onto the cutting mechanism. Push down the safety release, and with a relatively easy press on the handle, you're done. Not only is there a safety to prevent you from accidentally lowering the handle before you're ready, but as noted previously, the handle itself is also easily detachable and should be stowed on the side of the unit when not being used to prevent accidents. There are multiple guards present to prevent your fingers from getting somewhere they don't belong. The cutting blade is VERY sharp. Unlike your typical home paper cutter, which cuts the same way that a scissor cuts, that is to say using a shearing action, this unit actually has an extremely sharp blade which slices through the stack of papers. I will not be using this for routine paper cutting tasks; however, we have a fast food restaurant and have to redo the menus several times a year. This involves cutting and trimming around 80 sheets of cardstock on all four edges. Typically, doing one sheet at a time, I spend about an hour getting everything just right. With this baby, it should take about five minutes. Again, this is not for everybody, but if you have a lot of paper-cutting needs, I would highly recommend considering this unit. ... show more
