  • Good for the casual crafter, serviceable for professional materials
Color: green
SHORT FORM I bought this cutter to trim promotional postcards for my husband’s short film, to be given out at a film festival. It worked to get the job done to cut out 100 postcards. The first 30-40 were pretty smoothly trimmed. After that point there was a noticeable decline in cut cleanliness, and some more jagged edges. (I wish I’d taken some photos of the stacks to show what I mean, but, ah well). Ultimately, it worked for what I needed to do in a pinch, and you get what you pay for ($8.79 on Prime Day). DETAILED Between test prints and final prints, I used this cutter on around 60 pieces of 250gsm matte photo paper, 260gsm glossy photo paper and plain copy paper, with each piece of paper needing at least 6 cuts (2 postcards per paper). So, after around 360 cuts on thick paper, how did and how is the trimmer performing? The cuts started out relatively smooth and clean for the first 20 pieces of paper (120 cuts), but got noticeably less clean afterward. Every so often I would use a brush to clean off paper residue from the blade and from the blade-well, which helped little at improving cut smoothness. The blade seems to dull very quickly. There was a slight work around, of varying the pressure when pressing down on the blade holder to use parts of the blade that got less wear. However this is not a good workaround, since if you don’t press hard enough, it won’t cut all the way through anyway. (Attached to this review, I’m including a video of how the cuts look at this point, without switching out the blade) For cut accuracy, the margin of error is about 0.125-0.25cm, which is pretty significant if you’re trimming with a standard trim/bleed size of ⅛”. The extendable side ruler is also completely useless for maintaining right-angle cuts. It hyperextends just too far past what would make a straight line down the side, and is very wobbly, so getting that 90º cut with it was impossible. I had a better time eyeing it and using the grid printed on the cutter. I know these are very specific, granular gripes. If you are using this for casual crafting, this is probably a great cheap tool to get. But if you want or need that needlepoint accuracy and the smooth cuts for a large quantity, it may be better to invest in something more substantial. Still a good tool though. Again, you get what you pay for. ... show more

Got this for my mom as a mother's day gift. She loves scrapbooking and has a junk journal. She absolutely loved it!! It worked as expected and cut great 💜💜

  • For scoring paper For scoring paper
Color: green
I got this to score paper for iris folding and it works pretty good. The only thing I don’t like is that you can’t lift the arm/ruler, you have to slide the paper underneath and you have to push down kind of hard as you slide the cutting/scoring blade, it also isn’t centered exactly so it’s starting to cut the plastic but idk if I care. It’s decent for the price and purposes ... show more

  • Great multi-tool, but can become frustrating with use
Color: green
After using this paper cutter for a while, I feel like I can accurately write a review for it. I bought this paper cutter solely for the purpose of using two of the four cutters. These kinds of cutters always frustrate me because of they way they end up cutting construction paper or even certain cardstocks as it kind of gets stuck and rips or frays the edges. Maybe I'm just using it wrong. Either way, it does what I want it to, but I get frustrated after a while. Pros: -You get four different cutting tools: straight, wavy, lined, and scoring. -It makes relatively clean cuts as long as you apply good pressure. -It's compact and light making for easy storage. -The rotating portion is easy to use. -Cut lines are exactly like the sample lines on top of the blade. -Cut lines are crisp. Cons: -If you don't take the cutter off the wheel completely before cutting your project, the top bit won't cut and you have to go back to cut it again. -Any paper that is larger than the length of it (~9 inches - aka A4) it will not fit underneath the plastic track the knife runs on which kind of defeats the purpose of trying to use it on larger paper. So being compact is great, but not when your project is bigger than the cutter. -There is a guideline on the base so you can eyeball where the knife will run, but because it wobbles slightly, the cut may not be straight. I tried to draw a line down the middle with a pen, but it does not follow that line. -The knife track plastic is screwed into the base that you cannot lift it for easy placement of paper. This becomes slightly annoying if the paper doesn't immediately go through underneath it. It has enough clearance for maybe 2-3 sheets. Overall, it does what it is made to do, but the way it was made could have been slightly adjusted for ease and use. For the price, it does a decent job as long as you are ok with limited flexibility. I am usually a pretty patient person, but when I have to use this for bigger projects, it gets very frustrating and I end up going back to my old cutter. ... show more

  • Poor cutting performance
Color: Black
Does not cut well. I’ve been trying to use this trimmer for my scrapbook paper and the cutting preformed is lacking. The blade will skip and not cut in random parts of the trim line. After a month of use I’m not impressed. Not sure if I got a faulty product but would not recommend for someone who wants a trimmer for regular use. ... show more

  • Exactly as promised
Color: green
Easy to use and works great. Isn't always the best at cutting specifically, but that mostly goes for thicker materials. That being said, I appreciate that it has different kinds of cuts it can do. It makes it easier to use for a multitude of projects. The item was larger than I anticipated, but that was my bad for misreading the size. Overall, works well, and I don't regret getting it. ... show more

  • OMG shockingly handy!
Color: green
I bought this because we had something similar for making cards while I was in rehab and I figured I could benefit from it in my artistic life. The option for making fold lines is the surprising option I didn’t know I needed! Also the scored option for tearing is super cool. It’s so affordable, so easy to use, I could care less about the color, the size is diminutive enough for a desk drawer, and it’s just nice to have around for straight lines. ... show more
