This camera system is very cool because you can add a micro SD card and view playback for free. The Wyze app alerts you to events and will show a snapshot when motion is detected and you can click "jump to SD" and it will play back the event. There is a subscription where it will show you a small clip but it isn't very necessary with the jump to SD and alert features of the app. I installed one in an insulated storage tote with a heating pad so I could keep an eye on some stray cats we take care of. During the very cold winter days I liked being able to see them and make sure they stayed warm. The camera picture quality is great and there is also a feature to record audio and you can speak through the camera as well. I discovered Wyze via a tech article back when they were about to launch their first cameras. They were the perfect solution for an apartment dweller with zero knowledge of security cams and very little money to spend. The company has come a long way since then, but their affordability hasn't changed one bit. I now have 3 Wyze Cam v2s, 1 Wyze Cam Pan V2, 2 Wyze Cam OGs, and the Wyze scale. The app is easy to use, and the cameras are so simple to set up. All you have to know is how to use a smartphone. I do suggest subscribing to Cam Plus, which allows for longer and more frequent recordings and saves them in the cloud for 14 days. It also allows you to choose smart detection, like pet, person, package, etc., which cuts down on unnecessary notifications when branches move in the wind. It's $3 per camera per month or $10/mo for unlimited cameras -- but you can get even cheaper unlimited plans if you watch for Black Friday and other sales. I originally bought 2 to face my front and back doors because I was concerned about break-ins in my area. I wanted to be alerted if someone entered my apartment while I was gone and hopefully get a shot of their face to help catch them. I later added more, so I could peek in on my dog while I was at work, watch for packages (and package thieves) at my front door, and just be able to see that all was well at home while I was gone. Most recently, the cams came in handy when maintenance came into my apartment to do a repair. I was at work and was immediately notified that someone was in my home. I watched them on camera, and I was even able to ask them via the speaker to close the front door, which had swung back open behind them. I didn't really think they'd do anything wrong, but it was still nice to be able to see in real time that they only worked on the repair, didn't enter my bedroom, and didn't even glance at anything worth stealing. All in all, I would absolutely recommend Wyze cams to anyone wanting cam security at an adorable price. I've tried many security cameras. None of them were that good, or just not good at all. This one though, is so amazing! And the setup for it, couldn't have been any easier! It literally speaks and with their app, it takes you thru every step of the way! It really does pick up each and every motion, telling you whether vehicle detected or person detected, and even sound detected! Very clear picture! Double tap to zoom in. How is this only $25?! Not complaining of course lol And the subscription for it, is only $20 annually for the Plus. My only complaint is that the Plus only covers for one camera. If you want more than one camera covered, that requires their Unlimited plan which is rather costly. I think the plus should include up to 2-4 cameras. But other than that, this runs great, live comes up within a second or two (unlike my previous Logitech circle camera did, nor Blink). Oh and even at night, without my porch light on, it looks really good and clear! I don't get how they do it but this camera is literally the best security camera I've ever had!! And again, the price is beyond amazing!!! ... show more

I bought this Wyze Cam OG camera as a (only) slightly less expensive alternative to the Wyze Cam v3. I have two Cam v3s and have been reasonably satisfied with them. When I connected the Cam OG and turned it on, I was surprised by two things: 1. It DOES NOT take 12 second videos when an event occurs. I don't like paying for the Wyze Cam Plus service (to record longer videos to the cloud) so I rely on the 12 sec videos and a micro SD card installed in the the Cam v3 cameras to give me the recordings I need. But the Cam OG does not record 12 sec videos to the cloud like the Cam v3. The OG only records a snapshot/thumbnail. I did not know this when I bought the OG and was disappointed by it. So I put a big SD card in the OG (see photo) and rely on it exclusively for video. 2. The interface in the Wyze app is different for the OG than for the v3. If you want to see a collection of the time-indexed events, you have to view the contents of the SD card and then scroll through the timeline looking for the event icons. It is not hard to use and relatively intuitive. (see photo). Some time after I was using the OG to record events, for some reason, it stopped recording. The only way I could figure out how to fix it was to remove the SD card, format it, and then re-install it. Overall, I think the Cam OG is adequate. It does alert through the app when there is an event (similar to the Cam v3). The image quality is as good as the v3. It has a spotlight that the v3 does not have (but I have not found any value in it yet). It has been relatively useful for keeping an eye on things. I prefer the Cam v3, though. ... show more
