Okay, the knives cut great. I just received this today as a Valentine's gift from my hubby (no, that's not tacky....I always prefer practical gifts) and I was initially very disappointed, because as you can see in my photos, the wood block has flaws that I will have to try to touch up. It's definitely not gorgeous wood like the one showed on Amazon. I just think for the price, this should be a quality purchase all around. However, I will keep it since the knives are the most important part. I will see how the block touches up. I wouldn't buy it for a wedding gift or anything since I can't be guaranteed the block is going to look nice. Also, one more thing: Most of the knives must stay in their cardboard sheath if you want them to fit snugly in the slots in the block. ... show more

The quality is definitely on the lower side for wusthof, especially the handles. More importantly it says it comes with an 8 inch chefs knife, which is pretty strange considering the “8” inch is the same length as my 6 inch wusthof knife I bought several years ago…
