When applying, I used a spray bottle and mild soapy water. The material needs to set for a few days for the moisture to "bake" out as there are small moisture bumps that will appear after installation. After "baking" a few days the material takes on a "flatness" against the window.

I used this for a North Facing window that gets a lot of heat in the afternoon. I was pleased with how easily it went up, but getting the adhesive off the backing took a bit of effort. Hint: use scotch tape to "grab" the two sides of the film. It's the only way I got mine loose. I was not happy with the amount of product in the package since the product picture showed it as big enough to cover a set of sliding doors. Ever see an 18 year old in a 1998 WRX with a terrible window tint job they did themselves? It looks ridiculous. Ever seen a pro window tint job? it’s flawless. I have a double hung window in my shop/garage that has 2 glass panes about 23.5 x 16. I had a plastic Venetian blind on the window that was filthy dirty that had to go. Preface here - I am a very experienced DIY person with a wide variety of skills and abilities including roofing, siding, wiring, building furniture and even making custom knife handles (see photo so you know I’m not BS-ing). I’ve worked as a diesel and auto mechanic and rebuilt burned out homes to put myself through pharmacy school 45+ years ago. This simple window tint film project sucked. I watched 60 minutes of YouTube videos, have seen this done professionally on windows at my house where it came out perfect. Since this was an out of the way garage window, I figured I’d give it a try. I followed every hint in every video, I used the right tools, cleaned the windows 4 times including scraping them twice inside with a brand new 4 inch razor scraper blade. I even mixed up the baby shampoo and water suggested in 2 videos. I used new micro fiber towels on the final window clean then blew the glass off with compressed air. I STILL got a weird looking small orange peel effect under this film. Not bubbles per se, just small areas of orange peel. It just looks a bit like Dead Pools face in some areas. And the film scratches very easily. Never use a hard hand squeegee without a microfiber towel on top - the film will scratch. If this was on my front door window lites or a door or window seen every day, I’d get this done professionally. You can try this film but it’s a challenge even for a grizzled old DIYer like me. I loved that this was so easy to install and can easily be removed without any damage or residue! Great bang for my buck! Love that I can see out of it, but when my landlord is outside looking at my windows he can't see my cat inside that I'm not suppose to have! All he can see is the mirror effect!

DISCLAIMER: I hate what Jeff Bezos is doing to the safety & well-being of his workers and if I lived anywhere with physical stores that stocked supplies like this I’d be thrilled to put money ANYWHERE else. But for those of us in rural areas who need to know about a low-cost product to keep energy costs low, here you go. AFFECT ON TEMP: My kitchen windows are single-pane non-UV glass and it reaches 120°F at the worst point in summers. I’ve applied several window film types in the past elsewhere (anti-shatter, holographic, etc) and this film is by far the easiest to apply. The temperature difference in the kitchen feels like at least 8-10° after covering the windows. AFFECT ON VIEWS/LIGHT: I’m an artist and hyper-specific about color and would hate this if it threw a weird tone onto everything. I got the silver kind, and while it does block a ton of heat, it does not block too much light. There is a slight blue-ish tone to the sunlight compared to before, but it’s calming and doesn’t look fake or fluorescent-like. APPLICATION: 1) Clean your windows multiple times with both vinegar solution and 50/50 rubbing alcohol and water. Think lab-level clean. It really helps. 2) To apply large pieces, use two people. The only annoying thing about this material is that you can crease or put half-moon shape dents in it when unrolling, so it really helps to have a partner or buy extra. Cut to about an inch large on each side but not more. 3) You can use 2 pieces of painters tape on top to hold the piece on, and then peel the inside film off with the window film hanging in position. 4) spray on a lot of barely-soapy water to both the inside of the film AND the window (like half a squirt/tsp of soap in an entire spray bottle) 5) use a rubber squeegee (not included) or a plastic ruler with the edge covered in painters tape to prevent scratching (like I did) to squeegee out bubbles from top to bottom and outwards from the middle towards each side. Pro tip: bumpy terrible windows like my multiple paned ones will likely have remaining bubbles on the sides and that is the fault of the glass, not the film. It’s fine. Perfection is an impossible goal. As for the nice window on the door, that one came out pretty close. One or two tiny half moon dents. Highly recommend, sadly even with the consequences of supporting this late-stage-capitalism death-eater in the process. ... show more

I got this window cling to hide my cats from the birds eating in my window bird feeder. It worked instantly but the installation wasn’t easy. Although I used a lot of soapy water to try to get a smooth install I still have bubbles.
