Top Amazon Reviews

  • Don’t pay too much attention to the negative reviews
Style: 3 in 1 Trimmer w/(2) 2.0 Ah Batteries
This trimmer is awesome. I use to have a black and decker 18v trimmer years ago until the batteries died. I figured it was time to get a “real” trimmer. So I bought a craftsman, 4 cycle, fancy attachment capable, few hundred dollar trimmer. I liked that one for about the first year and then I hated it. It was huge, heavy and way too problematic. It just seemed like I was always fixing the damn thing. I kept putting up with it mostly because of the money I spent on it. Well this spring I got out the craftsman trimmer and sure enough the pull start mechanism breaks on the first pull. That was it! I went on amazon found the worx revolution for a great price and didn’t even hesitate. Now as far as some of the negative reviews of this and other models I really don’t understand why some people feel they must compare the worx to a commercial gas trimmer and then leave a negative review. Unless it’s defective, that’s another story. But this is an ELECTRIC trimmer! Mostly I see people complain about the power and battery life. It’s not a gas trimmer that’s going to send grass flying into your neighbors yard across the street. But believe me it’s got plenty of power to cut grass! I just received my trimmer today and I wanted to test this thing. After charging the battery I cut down grass on a hill that was 10 inches and taller in some places. The worx revolution went right through it. And as for battery life, I watched a video review saying one battery ONLY lasted 25ish minutes, like that was a bad thing. I have one acre of land with grass on all sides, flower beds, gardens, block walls etc. 25 minutes was plenty of time to get all that done. And this came with 2 batteries. I couldn’t be happier. Moral to the story, if you’re a commercial landscaper or someone with hundreds of acres to trim then yeah, this is not for you. If you’re someone who just wants to trim GRASS around your home with a lightweight, battery operated, no gas mixing, quite trimmer. This is the one. Plus all the user friendly features on this are so nice! I really like the adjustable length. I thought I would need it all the way extended but actually I didn’t. I was able to shorten the length so it was actually comfortable to use. Then I adjusted it again to trim the tall grass on the hill. This makes me realize how uncomfortable my old gas trimmer was. Even my wife likes this thing and if she’s willing to jump in and help with yard work because this thing is lightweight and easy to use, that’s even better! ... show more

  • easy to use, effective for light whacking and OK battery life
Style: 3 in 1 Trimmer w/(2) 2.0 Ah Batteries
Why did you pick this product vs others?: It came complete, is easy to use and does not have a self feeding feature which is very nice. We got it to use for light to moderate grass and weed removal and it seems to do fine. It is light weight which is great for my wife to use as she has some arthritis in her hands. She really likes the adjust ability of the handles and head angel. Battery life could be longer (averages about 25 minutes) and they take several hours to recharge but still a versatile light weight unit that does what we were needing. ... show more

  • Wheels are the only real problem
Style: 3 in 1 Trimmer w/(2) 2.0 Ah Batteries
Update (No star changes): The duck tape didn't hold the retainer in place. Well, it held it to the wheel assembly, but the screw still came out of the trimmer. I have now added a bit of cut-off zip tie into the hole, replaced the duck tape, and reinstalled the wheels yet again. Eventually, I'm going to figure out a way to get these wheels to stay in place. Original review follows. This is the third one of these trimmers we've purchased. The trimmer itself works well, is easy to reload with string, and does the edging and trimming a smaller lawn might need. "Smaller," in Texas, means up to 10,000 square feet on the lot - which the house, driveway, sidewalks and landscaping cuts in to. You can wind your own spools fairly easily, and the batteries last maybe three years at the outside. Since two batteries and a charger cost only slightly more than a complete unit with two batteries and a charger, we opt to replace the entire unit when the batteries inevitably fail. I don't care who makes the batteries, anything around this price point is going to fail in two to three years. The only problem is the wheel mounting mechanism. It is a plate that you slide the wheels on to. The plate becomes loose over time, and you have to tighten it. But since you've tightened it before, the wheels start becoming harder and harder to put onto the mounting plate. The REAL problem is you cannot tighten the mounting screw with the wheels in place. On our last unit, a bit of duck tape (thanks, Red Green, for the idea) and ingenuity kept the wheels in place, but a better design would negate the need to jury rig the unit to keep the wheels in place. Note that we don't move the wheels from one mounting spot to the other; we leave them installed in the edging position. There is really no excuse for them to loosen over time, but it has happened exactly the same way with both of the previous units we purchased. If you're looking for a light-weight, low-cost, easy-to-use and reload trimmer that also does a decent job edging, this unit will work just fine. Just be aware that you'll need new batteries in three or so years, because they are batteries, not because this is made by Worx. ... show more

  • I highly recommend this weed trimmer
Style: 3 in 1 Trimmer w/(2) 2.0 Ah Batteries
I just purchased this trimmer this month and have used it a lot. It's easy to operate, it's light weight and the batteries last longer than I expected. In all fairness I get to rest up while charging the batteries to finish up my work. The string is awesome and easy to change and lasts quite a long time (each spool) usually lasts through about 1/2 an acre of heavy cutting I have 1 acre property and there is a lot of trimming on it. It usually takes me 2.5 days to do my yard , drive way and around the house and barn, chicken coop and greenhouse. I am 65 and do it by myself so makes my work alot easier. My left wrist has an old injury after falling the roof of my motorhome and even I can operate this with no issues. I highly recommend this trimmer. ... show more

  • Proven Performance & Durability
Style: 3 in 1 Trimmer w/(2) 2.0 Ah Batteries
I purchased this item (from Amazon) back in 2022. This little workhorse has exceeded all my expectations for performance & durability. For a grass trimmer it is small & very lightweight. I feel that it would be perfect for a smaller person or women. I'm a 6ft, 215lb, 75yo male & because of my age, this tool is perfect. It's lasted much, much longer than I expected with the amount of use & abuse it's taken. Initial assembly was very easy, and adjustments of head angle & handle length is simple. Also, I have El Toro grass & I like to keep it cropped short, otherwise this species of grass tends to quickly grow into a very thick & high lawn. Although it only cuts through a small swath at a time, this WORX grass trimmer is powerful enough to cut through these thick leaf blades; & it's lightweight & easy maneuverablity makes it easy to control. The grassy areas of my yard is very, very large, so I have to do it in sections. I don't use a lawn mower, only this little guy. Since being so satisfied with this tool, I have purchased many other WORX brand tools (hedge trimmer, leaf blower, brad driver, power drills & recipro/jig saw combo) because of their "PowerShare" design concept. So I have many interchangeable batteries & multiple chargers; & this works extremely well for me. For this grass trimmer each battery charge will last around 18-22 mnutes per charge. While I can see that this may be inconveniently tedious for someone else, I don't mind. At my age, this battery-changing routine allows me to gauge my time & progress. Also, the cutting line is on a surprisingly small replaceable spool. Replacement spools of line are abundantly available on Amazon & the removal/replacement process is very simple & fast. It would be unfair to compare this WORX brand grass trimmer to those gas powered (commercial use) brands like Shindaiwa or Stihl, etc. I'm sure that these heavy duty trimmers could run circles around this little guy, but at the same time are much more expensive, heavier & cumbersome,. In the past 3 years, after hundreds of hours of use, I've come to love & respect this little tool alot. My only complaint is that I wish the handle length was a bit longer. ... show more

  • Buy this trimmer
Style: 3 in 1 Trimmer w/(2) 2.0 Ah Batteries
6 years back I bot a very strong, corded trimmer. I got so tired of hauling 200 foot of extension cord around my triple size yard that I quit trimming altogether. I just received my WORX battery powered trimmer. I got the WG170. A) This is a powerful trimmer. B) The line feed - on demand, no auto crap - is a wonder in itself. All you do is push a button, and the line feeds out. Done. No tangling, no binding - just easy, smooth feeds. Every time. C) this trimmer is light weight. My old, very heavy trimmer hurt my back after 15 minutes of use. This 170, is ergonomically made so you can use either hand, the head is completely adjustable for any condition. D) The wheels: i thot it was gimmicky. NOT SO! Life saver. Under the trampoline - easy. Under bushes - zero stress. Use the wheels on the grass in the sidewalk - GONE. No chemicals. I get 45 to 60 minutes on the batteries. First time. E) You carry an extra line head ON THE HANDLE! And the cutting head is so small - fantastic! JUST BUY this WG170 model. I would give it 10 stars !! ... show more

  • Batteries Sucks!! Tool Great.
Style: 3 in 1 Trimmer w/(2) 2.0 Ah Batteries
The trimmer/edger itself works great for what I need it to do. It's not to heavy and it cuts good. However, the batteries are another issue. The product came with 2 batteries, which I thought would be great for my yard. One battery last about 20-25 minutes and the other battery last about 10 minutes, which is not even adequate amount of time for me to trimmer and edge up my front yard. This means I have to recharge the batteries in order to finish the front yard and do my backyard on another day. This really kind of sucks. ... show more

  • Worx WG 170.2 trimmer , a trimmer that trims in unconventional ways Worx WG 170.2 trimmer , a trimmer that trims in unconventional ways
Style: 3 in 1 Trimmer w/(2) 2.0 Ah Batteries
The Worx WG 170.2 trimmer was bought to replace the batteries for a 9 yr old worx Wg 151 trimmer . The batteries alone were quite costly so for an additional $20 i was able to buy two new 20 volt batteries, charger, and a new WG 170 trimmer. Both trimmers use the same batteries, line, spools, spool covers, and chargers. I will say the new WG 170 gets used once or twice a week as an edger for my 60 ft. Long sidewalk and 30 ft long driveway as well as an edger for the side of my house and landscaping. The WG 170.2 came with two each 20 volt 2.0 ah batteries that i alternate however i rarely need more than one battery for my trimming. The things that i like about this trimmer. It is lightweight, the adjustability of the handle and trimmer head, the push button line advance, the easy spool changeout, the wheels for rolling on the sidewalk while edging, and the ability to interchange or run various other tools with the same batteries. I have a Worx 20 volt hedge trimmer that uses the same batteries. The things that could be improved on. The wheels could be larger, would roll over joints or cracks in the cement sidewalk and debris and clippings better. The metal guard that slides out of the front . This guard is adjustable and would be usefull for both horizontal and vertical trimming if it locked in place. I found because it doesn’t lock it does not function as an edge guard very well and a feature not designed very well. I use the trimmer vertically to establish a nice straight edge to my landscaping and the edge of grass along the side of my house. Because the edge guard does not lock in position it is useless to use the guard as a sled runner to slide the trimmer along the grass vertically. The wheels do not roll in the grass either ! The trimmer guide locking in place would let the trimmer slide through the grass . Instead of sliding the trimmer through the grass i find it easier to bump trim or plunge trim . Works quite well if you watch the cutting action of the string . I also own an Echo gas edger that i seldom use because it throws so much mulch and dirt that it makes cleanup take alot longer . This Worx WG170.2 is a medium duty trimmer that is lightweight, easy to use, and takes little space when collapsed and folded up for storage. The two best features i find very useful on this trimmer that set it apart from lots of others in it's class is the string advance lever in the handle and the wheels that roll on the sidewalk that makes for very uniform depth and straight lines when edging.......... the pics show both trimmers retracted, both trimmers fully extended, both trimmer edge guards that do not stay in place, and both Worx trimmers and my Worx hedge trimmer stored on wall. UPDATE 4/28/2022. The trimmer secret to edging landscaping with this trimmer is to hold it in a near vertical handle position and drag the trimmer thru the grass rather than pushing the trimmer as you would do if you were rolling the wheels while edging a sidewalk. You can maintain nice straight edges by grasping the trimmer with the left hand on the adjustable handle and holding it in a secure position while simply walking with the edger. Like dragging a stick on the ground rather than pushing a stick on the ground. The dragging method with you left hand knuckles facing down is a lot smoother action. You may find it helpful to adjust the length of the trimmer shaft a bit shorter so your arms are not held as high as you use the drag and walk method for landscape edging. ... show more
