  • Powerful Yard Cleanup Tool That Makes Mulching Easy
The media could not be loaded. I ordered the WORKPRO Electric Wood Chipper Shredder, 15-Amp 4300RPM Corded Leaf Mulcher, 1.73” Max Capacity, 14:1 Reduction Ratio, SK5 Dual-Blade System, Portable Garden Shredder with Wheels & Collection Bag. This chipper is surprisingly powerful for a compact electric unit. The 15-amp motor has no problem handling typical yard debris like small branches, twigs, and leaves, and it noticeably reduces everything down into mulch quickly. It’s perfect for regular yard maintenance without needing a bulky gas-powered machine. One of the biggest benefits is the 14:1 reduction ratio. It really cuts down the volume of yard waste, which makes cleanup so much easier. Instead of hauling multiple bags, you end up with a much smaller amount of usable mulch, which is great for flower beds or landscaping. The dual-blade system does a nice job staying consistent, and I like that the blades can be flipped when they start to dull to extend their life. That’s a practical feature that helps with long-term use and saves money on replacements. It’s also designed well for home use. The wheels make it easy to move around the yard, and the overall size is manageable to store when not in use. The included collection bags are helpful, although you’ll still want to keep an eye on them as they fill up quickly when you’re working through a pile. There are a couple of limitations to keep in mind. It was very difficult to assemble and took a long time due to misalignment and poor instructions. The holes that you insert the bar holding the wheels would not line up properly. The frame was pulled apart too much and I had to use my full body weight of 114 lbs to try to bend it, while another person inserted the rod for the wheels, after I drilled a new hole into the frame, since the pre-drilled hole was misaligned by about 1-2 inches. The insertion of the wheel rod should have only taken about 1-3 minutes and would have, IF the pre-drilled hole was in the correct spot and IF the frame was properly bent to where it should have been. However, after being assembled, it worked amazingly well. I’ve included a video and pictures of how well this small wood chipper works. I am very impressed, and excited about cleaning up my yard, now that I have this wood chipper to assist. It’s also best suited for branches under the stated size limit (1.73” in diameter) and feeding thicker or very hard wood requires a slower pace. Since it’s corded, you’ll also need a good extension cord, which can limit mobility a bit. Overall, this is a really solid option for homeowners who want an efficient, easy-to-use small wood chipper for routine yard cleanup, but very difficult to set up and assemble, with poor instructions. It’s powerful enough for most needs while still being compact and convenient to use. I definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Turning Yard Debris Into Gold
Spring cleaning is in full effect at my house and the fallen tree limbs and sticks are everywhere in my large wooded yard. In the past I would either burn them or trash them but now I can turn them to dust and it feels good to finally have a use for all that waste. This electric shredder is surprisingly powerful for its size and it handled the branches I fed it with a real sense of purpose. I was worried it might struggle with the thicker pieces but it chewed through them and spit out a nice fine mulch that I can actually use for my garden beds. The wheels make it easy to move around the uneven parts of my lawn and the collection bag stays put even when it starts getting heavy with wood bits. It is honestly a bit addictive to watch a pile of messy sticks disappear into a tiny bag of chips and it makes me feel like a professional landscaper without the expensive truck. I did notice that if I tried to shove a giant handful of leaves in at once it wanted to slow down so I learned to feed it at a steady pace to keep the motor happy. The safety paddle they included is great because I value my fingers and do not want them anywhere near those spinning blades. One of the wheels seemed a little stiff at first but after a bit of use it loosened up and now rolls perfectly fine. It is such a relief to stop making giant burn piles and instead create something useful for my soil while cleaning up the mess from winter. ... show more

  • Functional, but can be annoying (A Lesson in Patience)
Overall: This Workpro shredder is a classic case of "it works, but you have to work for it." If you are in a rush or have a mountain of debris, this will likely frustrate you. If you have a few small piles and don’t mind a slow afternoon, it gets the job done. Assembly: Keep a Mallet Handy The build process was a bit of a battle. The instructions are subpar, and the machining tolerances are tight in the wrong places. My axle holes didn’t line up, and I actually had to use a rubber mallet to force the frame into the main body. The Power Connection Issue The most unique "quirk" is the power inlet. It’s a recessed two-prong plug inside a circular housing that seems to only accept a very specific diameter of round extension cord. If your cord doesn't fit perfectly, the vibration of the machine will shake it loose, causing the unit to shut down constantly. I eventually had to knot the cord to keep it from falling out every two minutes. Which is in the manual, but it's still annoying. Performance: The "Slow and Steady" Rule Don’t expect to feed this thing at a steady clip. Sticks: The intake hole is small, limiting you to very thin branches. The problem there isn't so much that it won't do larger sticks. I get that. The problem is if you want to shred very tiny sticks, you can only fit a couple of them in there. These are things it could shred fairly easily, if I could get them in there. Leaves: It’s possible to shred leaves, but it’s a slow process. A really slow process. You have to jam them in there with the pushing thing and even then, it's just not much fun. Feed Rate: If you feed it too fast, it throttles down, bogs, or overheats and shuts off. The Secret: You have to go really slowly. If you treat it like a heavy-duty industrial chipper, it will quit on you. If you feed it at a snail's pace, it eventually processes everything. Final Verdict It’s a functional tool for very light-duty yard work, but it lacks the "oomph" and design polish of higher-end models. It’s stuck in a middle ground where it works, but requires a high level of patience and a very specific extension cord to be usable. It does work. It just doesn't make it easy. The chips are nice, at least. ... show more
