The biggest problem I had was getting the wire from where the rear camera was mounted to the mirror. Even that wasn't that bad. All the components installed easily. Wires tucked away nicely. This isn't a mirror. This is a monitor. The rear camera is wide angled and gets a much better view than the paltry mirror that Chevrolet put in my 2014 Camaro. After a few hours of use I was very proud of my purchase. The cameras are clear and very responsive. The touch screen is highly responsive. The lane departure warnings are simple and aren't obnoxious. I appreciate that a lot. Anyone looking to add a dashcam with rear camera, this is the unit you should get.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I installed the WOLFBOX G850 Pro in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (JLU), and after using it with both my hard top and soft top, I can confidently say it does exactly what I wanted it to do. My primary goal was maintaining a rear camera year-round. With a Wrangler, especially when running a soft top in full convertible mode, your rear visibility can change dramatically. This setup solves that problem completely. The rear camera stays mounted outside the Jeep, so regardless of which top I'm running, I always have a clear view behind me. In fact, when the soft top is folded all the way back, visibility is actually better than using the factory mirror because the folded top no longer blocks my rear sightlines. Installation was relatively easy. It's a Jeep, so most of the interior panels pop off like Legos. I ran everything down the driver's side and only had to drill one small hole during the install. The included wiring was more than long enough for a Wrangler, which was a pleasant surprise. The front camera quality is excellent during the day. You will notice the difference between the front 4K camera and the rear 1080p camera, but it's exactly what I expected. The rear image is still plenty clear enough to identify vehicles and traffic behind you. If you use split-screen mode, the rear camera actually looks better because the image isn't stretched across the entire display. The forward collision warning and rear collision warning systems have been surprisingly accurate. The lane departure warnings are more hit-or-miss, even after calibration, but honestly that doesn't affect my opinion of the product because it wasn't a feature I was heavily relying on in the first place. There are a few trade-offs worth mentioning. Since the mirror becomes a screen, you lose the ability to use it as a traditional mirror to quickly check your hair, shirt, or whatever before getting somewhere. The unit is also slightly in the way of opening the driver's visor, though it's not enough to bother me. Like most mirror dash cams, glare can occasionally be an issue. In certain lighting conditions you'll see reflections instead of the display. I haven't spent much time adjusting the brightness settings, and I suspect that would help. Most of the time, visibility is excellent. At night, the screen can feel like having a small TV mounted on your windshield if the brightness is turned up too high, but lowering the brightness makes it much more comfortable. I mounted the rear camera using the license plate bracket. Because of that, the camera isn't perfectly centered on the vehicle. For me, that's completely fine because I'm not using it as my primary backup camera—the factory Jeep backup camera handles that. I use the WOLFBOX primarily for rear visibility and recording, and it performs great in that role. On rough Long Island roads, I occasionally notice a little vibration in the rear camera image, but it's minor and nowhere near enough for me to recommend against buying it. I've also used it in the rain. Visibility is reduced somewhat because water droplets can sit on the lens, but it's still very usable. I may eventually try a water-repellent treatment like Rain-X on the lens. I haven't owned it through a winter yet, so I can't comment on snow performance. One other nice touch: the included power adapter doesn't completely take over your outlet. It includes an additional USB port, so you don't lose the ability to plug in another device or charger. Overall, this has been an excellent upgrade for my Wrangler. It solved the exact problem I bought it for, works with both my hard top and soft top setups, and provides a consistently clear rear view regardless of how the Jeep is configured. It's not perfect, but every complaint I have is minor compared to the benefits. For my use case, it's an easy 5-star product.

Love the camera! So far it has been a very nice addition to the truck. Very easy to install in 2017 F150. I had a little bit of a hard time deciding where to place the rear camera and decided on a license plate mount and I’m very happy with that decision. The only negative so far is that the front camera that is attached rear view mirror is so heavy that it pulls the rear view mirror down, so if I want to cut off the image and use the traditional rear view mirror it will not hold.

I am testing the waters with dash cams, and on my 2019 Nissan Frontier I have added this and all I can say is wow what an amazing product. Having a live video rearward from the rear dashcam is incredibly helpful for things beyond an accident, and the way the entire unit works feels so slick and polished I honestly don't know why an OEM hasn't bought this company out and integrated this product into their cars. It is incredibly well thought out, and the 4K camera is absolutely amazing and interacting the the mirror and adding the lane assist and blind spot monitoring to a vehicle that doesn't have it is incredible to me. They gave plenty of cable, particularly for the rear where I had to run it through the length of the cab and under the bed to the rear tailgate. I had purchased longer cable, but turned out what they provided gave me about 4-6" extra length so otherwise it was perfect for my application. If you don't know you can also buy adapters to replace your actual mirror with this unit, and I highly recommend that option. I think it would look goofy and not work as seamlessly if it had to sit in front of my existing mirror, but buying the mirror post adapter as well makes it all look integrated like it came with the truck, and the mirror size was perfect for my frontier it has a nice large screen but leaves about 3/4" between the visors and the mirror, really making it look like it could have come from the factory. My only complaint, and its really not a complaint but just a fact of this product, is that the rear camera really is not all that great at night. Its pretty grainy and the light starbursts a lot so its hard to see what it is behind you. That being said I deliberately did not go for the top end model because I didn't want to be into the system for a ton of money to find out it didn't work well or I didnt like it and this particular model was a really good black Friday deal so it was perfect for what I needed it to do and the budget I was working with. Hindsight being 20/20 now that I know how stellar this really is I would buy the highest level model they offer because the front camera is amazing in virtually all conditions and I believe its the same camera for the rear if you get the top end model. I am going to install another one of these cameras this year on another car and I will follow my own advise and get the top-of-the-line, but i am plenty happy with this one as is and have no plans to replace it anytime soon. Excellent product all around.

So I've had this installed for a little over a month. My car's built in backup camera died shortly after I got it and it would have been too expensive to replace it. So I ended up purchasing this model as a cheaper replacement for a backup camera. I bought this model specifically because it was a new mid-range one and my hope was that the camera sensors would be better than older models. From what I can tell based on reviews of older models, this is true. This one has better camera sensors and better performance at night. I got the hardwire kit and the extension cable as well. So this product attempts to be multiple things: dashcam, backup camera, camera monitor, security camera, and driving safety assistant. I'll score each one independently. 5/5 dash cam Makes a great dashcam. Constant loop recording and can detect crashes and instantly lock the recording so it doesn't get overwritten. The onboard WiFi lets you easily connect to it to download media from it to your phone. 3/5 backup camera Makes an OK backup camera. It shows you a thin horizontal slice of the camera's view to fill the screen completely. You can adjust up or down so it shows you a different horizontal slice, but it won't let you zoom out and see the entire view of the camera. I would prefer an option to see the entire view of the backup camera even if it had black bars on the sides. With the hardwire kit, you can configure it so when you put the car in reverse, it shows you a specific horizontal slice, but it still won't let you zoom out. 4/5 camera monitor The screen and front facing camera goes on top of your existing rearview mirror. It provides a live feed of either the front camera, rear camera, or both (split screen). I keep it on the rear camera as it's replacing the rearview mirror basically. The view you see is much wider than you'd see normally out of just your mirror. In some ways that's extremely useful - now you can see into those blind spots on your back left and back right. In another way though it's distracting and misleading. Objects appear much further away than with the simple mirror, and it's basically a computer monitor running nonstop in front of your face. So it's distracting and it's difficult to get used to. My main beef with the approach is that because of the tech used, there's a noticeable delay between reality and when something shows on screen. Which is...not great. You CAN turn the screen off and just use the glass on the display as a mirror, but it's...not as good as a regular mirror. However, one thing that is very cool is with the wifi and app integration, you can see a live feed of either or both cameras on a smartphone or tablet, which is awesome. One potential use case could be to put a tablet in the backseat to show what's in front of the car for passengers. 1/5 security camera If you get the hardwire kit, a new menu option becomes available to you. You can have the cameras periodically take pictures overnight while the car is parked and off, AND it can record video if it detects a crash. I was excited about this added benefit. Unfortunately it doesn't work due to a software or firmware issue. I've tried various settings and in the morning I've come out to my car to see the monitor is on and stuck in a neverending loop where it's not actually recording anything. I'm sure that's doing wonders for my car battery and is a shining beacon for thieves to come break in to my car. I reached out to support and they sent me a replacement microsd which was nice, but didn't fix the problem. A shame. I had to disable this function. 1/5 driving safety assistant They included some "smart" features and toggled them on by default. This includes lane drift warnings for instance. The warnings were incredibly distracting, incorrect, and made my driving LESS safe. I shut them all off. Same with the voice control. It's so limited and gets triggered on accident constantly so I shut that off too. I think it was included just to add buzzwords to the Amazon listing. These are practically useless. Bonus mini review on the hardwire kit: I appreciate having it, because the monitor and cameras automatically power on and off with the engine. No fiddling with cords or chargers or buttons. Worth it to me. See above for the broken security functions. Hope this review helps you make a decision.

My Second WOLFBOX Dash Cam Install — Very Satisfied I recently installed my second unit from WOLFBOX — this time the G850 PRO — having previously installed the G900 Tripro Cabin Version in my other vehicle. Overall I’m very happy with the upgrade and confident in recommending it. Why I picked the G850 PRO after the G900 Tripro My first install (the G900 Tripro) delivered excellent coverage: front, rear, and cabin cameras — which I appreciated especially for full situational awareness. What I like about the G850 PRO so far Video quality: The front 4K footage captures road signs, license plates and fine detail very well. Large mirror display: The 12-inch mirror screen is a big plus — easy to view, gives the sense of “dashboard interface” while still functioning as a mirror. Features: The added ADAS (lane departure, forward/rear/side collision warnings) and BSD (blind-spot detection) are nice value adds. For someone like me, it’s not mission-critical but it’s good to have. Convenience: WiFi/app connectivity and the included 64 GB card meant I was largely ready out-of-the-box (just needed to handle wiring and mount). Familiar install workflow: Since this is my second WOLFBOX install, I already knew what to plan for: fuse-tap or OBD-port wiring, mounting strap vs bracket, routing cables along headliner/A-pillar, etc. Small caveats — but manageable Mirror size and sight-lines: The 12″ mirror is large, so in my truck I needed to ensure it didn’t obstruct view or interfere with visors. On the Tripro install I had similar considerations. Parking/monitoring mode wiring: As with my first unit, if you want full 24-hour parking monitoring you’ll need a hard-wire kit and dedicated fuse or constant power feed. Final verdict: Since this is my second WOLFBOX unit, I feel comfortable that the brand and product line deliver good value and performance. The G850 PRO hits a sweet spot for me: high-end features, large display, strong video quality, but without the complexity or higher cost of a full 3-channel cabin setup. For someone who can manage the install (which you absolutely can, given your background), it’s a smart choice. If I were to do it again, I’d pick this unit for a primarily front/rear coverage scenario and reserve the 3-channel cabin “premium” setup (like the Tripro) for when I need interior monitoring or ultra-wide coverage.

What can I say except oh my God wow! I have had several view mirror dash cams and this thing is unbelievable. It has more features than a Nasa relief map of Turkmenistan! It is beyond impressive for the price. Lane change warnings oncoming collision warnings vehicle tracking this thing has it all it is amazing when the one in my other car dies which is not the same as this one I am absolutely going to buy this for my other car! Very easy to install I put it in my Toyota Tacoma and I am beyond impressed with this. I am not usually this flattering to products even when I like them but this thing has me fully impressed and I am very happy so far with the purchase the only con I would say is it's still summer here in South Oregon and I took the truck through a car wash and after the car wash the mirror gave me a lock symbol I haven't quite looked up what that means yet but as soon as I restarted the truck everything was fine so I've seen these cameras have issues in rain and it's not quite to the rainy season yet so I'm not going to say this thing is perfect but I would definitely update this review if it doesn't hold up to Oregon rain other than that so far very impressed and very happy with this.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I really wanted to like this since there’s some positive to owning this, but the rear view camera brings the star rating from 4 to a 1 star rating. Pros Setup was fairly easy: Setup was fairly easy, however the instructions were a bit lacking in some area. Example: for the brace, which area should I take off? Is it required? Front camera works in all lighting conditions: Reviewing the camera’s video footage, the footage has a decent field of view visible during all hours of the day. A tab bit on the fish-eye side, but overall not bad. Very customizable with several options: The settings menu has several options available, however they could do a better job at defining what each option is and how it affects the camera. Cons: * Unsafe Alerts that Pop-up that completely blocks out the Mirror: I do not want Wifi on the camera, but yet I am constantly reminded to log into wifi at random points on my drive. * Randomly I will receive an alert that completely blocks my view of the rear view camera so that I have no visibility on what’s behind me, and this camera becomes a distraction since I am trying to clear out the wifi error. Rear Camera does not have night vision: I “soft” installed the camera onto the window of my SUV, and the day-time view is great and clear, however looking at the night time video from the monitor and recording, it suffers drastically. The night video from the rear camera is dark and grainy that using it can be more unsafe than just using the Mirror itself. I’m tempted to rip off the camera mid-drive since the safety risk outweighs the benefits of using the rear camera at night. It’s obvious there isn’t an IR sensor found on the rear, otherwise the video would be usable. I can’t even see the license plates if I wanted. The FOV for the rear cam feels too zoomed in: There seems to be a large crop, almost to the point where the rear camera feels zoomed by some degree. This is not modifiable by the settings. When reversing, the rear camera is not accurate and feels too zoomed in. The Advance Driver Assistance(ADA) System usefulness is questionable: is a feature that’s requires the front camera to be active in the mirror view, and as a result, it displays where pedestrians and cars are located. But there’s a problem, why would I use the front camera view in place of my mirror? In addition, it incorrectly measures the distance of cars that are nearly more than 30 ft away as being much closer than the standard estimate. So I’ve seen it estimate cars as 16 ft, when it was much further. Closer vehicles seem correctly estimated. In addition, I’m never alerted when I’m leaving the lane, ever. BlindSpot detection is rarely ever triggered: This was the main reason why I got this camera in the first place, and it’s barely ever functional. So I do not recommend this at all. Get a different camera.
