Out of the box (with a solid ground plane), assembling with the tip as short as it will go got me “OK” results on 2M and 70CM. 6M not great. Was even able to get some decent results with no ground plane, but much higher SWR. After trimming about 40mm off the tip, I was able to shorten it far enough to get balanced performance across all 4 advertised bands, plus “useable” in 1.25M, but not great. If you don’t have access to a good tuner, you can probably get darn near similar results by having the tip out 19.5mm as measured from base of ball to top of clamp. Do not even bother trying to use this outside of 2M/70CM if you don’t have a perfect ground plane first. Update #1: Folds over driving on freeway. Might be the bounce of the truck bed, might be wind loading, I don’t know. Going to retire it after 1 day and it will go on top of the travel trailer and transported stowed. Will be trying the Comet UHV-4, which has a locking threaded ring to prevent unplanned folding.

First arrived very very late. Total piece of junk. This antenna appears to be amazing. It tunes up on 2M, 70 CM, GMRS, FRS, 10M, 11M CB, 6 MTR, 4 MTR all with low VSWR. Its crazy good. It hears well too. OOPS, it barely resonates. While I can hear (receive) a simplex signal from4 to 5 miles away, it transmit line of sight. This means that you can talk to people you can see. Defeats the purpose of a radio. I believe it must have a resistor built into it causing the crazy good swr/vswr readings. It does hear well, but so does a coat hanger. It does transmit line of sight, but I could just yell. WASTE OF MONEY. SCAM ITEM. I replaced it with a simple name brand dual band and increase my transmit range by 1000% percent.

What I liked the antenna SWR’s out the box were 1.5/1 and has great reception. What I don’t like and this is my fault I have a 99 dodge pickup and I mounted it on the roof. The first time I hit a low hanging branch it came apart at the top coil instead of what others complain about “the antenna lays down “ no problem I had bought anouther for out at my hunt camp I will put on my truck and try again. Oh by the way replace the cheap set screws as they strip out or back out. Use red loctite

I've only been using this antenna for a few days now but I have to say so far it's been pretty good. It behaves like a 1/2 wave antenna on 2m and 5/8 wave on 70cm. I have a 5/8 wave 2m antenna that easily out performs but considering I only have to have one antenna mounted on my truck with this one I'd say it's slightly diminished performance is a fair trade off. Construction is surprisingly sturdy but I would make sure that all Allen screws are tight before going down the road. It's also fairly heavy so a good mount is going to be essential. Definitely not a disappointment and for the money it's actually a really good deal. 73s

I get decent SWR from this antenna on all 4 bands. Make sure that you mount this as high as possible on your car and in the clear. I tried to side mount it and could not get an SWR below 4:1, moved to the roof and got better than 1.3:1 on 10m, 1.2:1 6m, 1.00:1 on 2m 1.2:1 on 70cm. The fold down feature is both a blessing and a curse, great for low clearance areas, just an easy lift and foldover, on the negative side however, when offroading, the bouncing around has on more than one ocassion caused the antenna to fold over on its own killing signal propagation update: today driving down the freeway, this antenna folded over on its own every 10-15 miles, this happened 3 times, and after the 3rd time, it happened almost immediately after resuming driving, item defintiely has some quality issues. I ended up duct taping the upper folding portion to the tube it sits in and it held a great deal better, but ended up folding over again. Unfortunately this is out of the exchange period and I guess I will have to come up with another solution.

This antenna requires a "good" ground to even be moderately effective. And then there is location. Where best to mount it... I have road tested this on all bands and it is only moderately effective on 2 meters. A mechanical issue cropped up on this antenna as well. While driving more than 15 minutes at 60 miles per hour or better, the vibration (mostly wind battering) caused the tip down part of the antenna to vibrate up out of the seat and fall over. That spring is weak. But, overall the antenna does work as a quad band stick. For that price, you get what you pay for. NH2BV Tim

Not an antenna for driving!! you put it up when you're stopped, Or moving slow!! I get the best SWR match on all channels with this antenna and then a matter of fact the needle doesn't even move when checking SWR. People who are writing these reviews are Not using this antenna as it should be used, But then complain about how the antenna performs, if it is used in the way it's intended there's no problems with it. And for some of the other reviews, Please don't follow their examples, one Review actually put it on upside down and complained it didn't work right? Use this antenna as intended and it's an awesome antenna
