This blanket fits 2 deep langstroth 8 frame boxes perfectly. Would also likely fit your 10 frame. What I like is that the cover material is a heavy duty material that feels substantial and gives me confidence it will provide good service for a long time. It has a reflective material inside which also seems to be of good quality and has a thinner layer of padding in the middle. I like this product because it is way easier to insulate your hive then using other options, such as insulation board, which is just a pain in the butt. This just wraps around the hive and Velcro's shut, making this an easy option if you only have one person, which is usually my case. You do need to have 2 supers on to use this product. It is also made of a waterproof material, which is obviously a plus. ... show more

Product seems very stiff out of the packaging, after a few days in the sun it is more flexible.

Here's the skinny. Long time beekeeper in Oklahoma. Purchased several Hanson Bee Cozy's for 10 frame hives with great results. Decided to look into these wraps due to the cost and supposed ease of velcro wraps from various recommendations. Purchased one only due to expectations of rising prices next year. Won't do it again. I have 10 frame hives, like most of us. Took it down to the bee barn to try it on. NO! If you have a 10 deep hive set-up, don't bother. Took a large amount of time to put it on an EMPTY two deep hive. TOO SHORT! COME ON GUYS. ADD AN EXTRA INCH OR SO. I'm sticking with Hanson Bee Cozys. May be a tight fit but at least insulated and won't fall off. ... show more

I have been wanting one of these for a while, to help with the harsh winter conditions the bees face and wanting to give them a better chance of surviving the cold Michigan winters. The material feels very durable, and the inside is the shiny reflective material used to help keep heat in, while the outside is black, which will help absorb heat in the winter. This wrap is approximately two deep frames tall, and there are two sets of Velcro that allows you to fit it to 8 or 10 frame, although this is advertised as only an 8 frame box wrap. So far so good, we have had some deep freezes and the bees seem to be happy. An interesting test would be some sort of internal thermometer with two hives, one with and one without. I do not have the tools to do that at this time, but if I ever do, I will update with results. Feels like a very well made product and can definitely help your bees if they are near particularly cold locations, such as the edge of fields, where wind gusts in the winter can be particularly brutal. ... show more

    • Does not fit a 10 frame hive
This was not long enough to git around my 10 frame hive. The height is a slo a bit more than I would like as it tends to cover the entrance. That I could work with and come up with a workaround. There is nothing I can do about the fact that it is too short to wrap completely around my hive. I suppose I could make an extender, but then I suppose I could just make my own custom wrap. :( ... show more

This insulated hive wrap has two velcro strips so it will fit both 8-frame and 10-frame hives. This is made for two supers. It would be too tall for a single super. It is very thin. It has a black outer thick cloth jacket and an inside metallic layer. It would be nice to know the r-value. The black outside should help to absorb heat and the inside metallic layer should help to reflect heat inward. ... show more

I really like this winter beehive cover! The interior is a thermal reflective material to store in heat and keep it contained within the hive. I like the double strip of Velcro, as it can accommodate both an eight and 10 frame hive. Pictured here is the cover encasing a ten frame hive. I had originally intended to put this on the smaller hive pictured on the right, because it is more vulnerable to the cold winter temperatures, however, it is too high for a deep and medium super and still allow for adequate ventilation. The hive that is wrapping around is two deeps and one medium super. There is still some space at the entrance of the hive and at the top of the hive underneath the top cover to allow for some ventilation. I would love to purchase this again, but maybe in a smaller height to protect the smaller hive. ... show more
