  • A perfect machine with tips and tricks A perfect machine with tips and tricks
Absolutely LOVE my washer! Of course I read all the reviews of any product I'm looking to purchase and I found almost all negative reviews of this washer were about the fill and drain process. In my case there was only one way I could use this washer so i knew the issues that others had experienced were not going to be an issue for me. I live in a house built in 1921 that was converted into 2 apartments with mine being on the 2nd floor so its limited on space and no washer dryer hookup. But one of the beauties of my apartment is the cast iron clawfoot tub and huge linen closet in my bathroom. The washer fits beautifully in the bottom half of my linen closet (took out a nonessential shelf) and is so lightweight than I can lift it easily into my tub (I have horrible arthritis in my hands). I also have a handheld shower head which makes it so easy to fill so I dont have to mess with hose connections to faucets and since clawfoot tubs slope the tiniest bit there is no problem with draining. I just plop the showerhead into the washer to fill and unhook the connected drain tube from the side of the washer to drain and it drains completely. About filling and draining... I find that if I fill with water first I can add the amount of clothes accordingly without overfilling. The washer has a water fill line to avoid overfilling which will result in water all over your floor because of the overflow drain if you dont watch. I have walked away while filling and gotten sidetracked and overfilled once ir twice but since my washer sits in the bathtub it just drained into the tub so I didnt have a flood on my floor and also because our water company charges a flat rate whether I use a quart of water or 50 gallons of water I get charged the same so it wasnt catastrophic, but you will need to stand and watch your water fill if you dont want a mess on your hands. Loading process... You can actually fit quite a bit in this beauty. I can load 2 pairs of my son's work Jean's into the washer (he wears 32x36 carpenter jeans, pretty bulky) or a pair of jeans and 3 or 4 work shirts in one load and they come out soooooo clean! It agitates pretty powerfully but not so much that it destroys your clothes and in my opinion cleans better than the full size washers! You can see the dirt and even blue die from 3yr old jeans in the drain water! Of course the soap matters too. I experimented with 3 different laundry detergents and tho I was still getting clean clothes I was rinsing several times just to get the soap out. I finally discovered the type and amount of detergent is extremely important in order to get the maximum clean but also to avoid excessive water usage because of repeated rinsing. I use Tide HE (high efficiency) and it's perfect in cold water! It also saves on money because with this washer you only need a LITTLE. I use only 1 teaspoon per load. (Yes, 1 tsp) I know you think that would NOT be enough to clean anything let alone a load of dirty work jeans but you will be amazed! I know I was! After all the experimenting I found the perfect combo for super clean and only one rinse cycle! Yes I miss the convenience of an automatic washer cycling but when your limited, you adapt. With these types of portable washers you have to fill to wash, then drain, and then refill to rinse and drain again, so to much detergent or the wrong type of detergent will result in several repeated drain and fills along with wasting water and your time. The spin dry process.. This the tricky part of the whole process because you have to have the spin basket filled just right or it will be unbalanced and you will have loud thumping and a dancing washing machine. But after a couple of uses you will figure out the secret. You can't fit as much in the spinner as you can in the washer so this takes some time if you wash a full load. Only one pair of my son's jeans can be spun at a time but with only shirts etc I can load most of the load all at once. When first using the spinner you need to be attentive, you can tell immediately if you have overloaded by the sound and can run the risk of breaking the washer. But the spinning process is exceptional! After spinning it takes no time at all to dry in the dryer! It spins out the water so well that 2 pairs of my son's jeans dries in 15 minutes in my portable dryer! I hang dry a lot of my blouses and such and the way the spinner works my things dry in less than 2 hours! Of course that also depends on the weight of the item, my sweaters take longer but not near as long as it took after washing with a full size washer. The difference in spin cycles between the two types is pretty great and because there is no agitator stem in the middle there is nothing for your clothes to get twisted around. Bottom line this is a great machine. I have had it over 2 months and do not regret my purchase at all!. It does take extra time because of the size and the filling and draining process but it sure beats schlepping tons of laundry to a smelly, overcrowded, overpriced laundromat! My trick to time saving is not letting the laundry pile up! ... show more

  • Worth the tradeoffs. Worth the tradeoffs.
I went on Vacation to Zanzibar island in Tanzania in 2017. For a nominal fee, my hotel would send your laundry to a local who would carefully wash your clothes by hand. I marveled at just how clean and fresh my clothes came back to me. If you're an apartment dweller without a laundry machine you know all too well just how expensive it can be to get your clothes washed and dried. Doing it by hand sucks, in fact many sects of the Amish actually permit washing machines- The same dudes who ride horse and buggies and hate technology are A-okay with washing machines, that's how much it sucks to do laundry by hand. This machine is alright, but it will take a little bit of know how to get your clothes clean. If you have any stains? they won't come out using this machine alone. I recommend letting your whites soak in bleach, wetting the area of any stain and scrubbing at it in the sink prior to wash, if you add vinegar or borax to your load, you will notice a remarkable difference. I recommend the following routine: 1. Pre treat. Spray any stain or problem area and scrub and treat. 2. pre wash- nothing but water running through the machine, drain immediately after. 3. Add your desired soap and additives, soak the clothes and wash as normal. 4. Rinse cycle, run nothing but water through again. 5. use the spin cycle to get the clothes as dry as possible. 6. Either hang to dry, or use a portable dryer, my personal suggestion is using a hanging dryer after a spin cycle. On opening the washing machine fresh out of the box it tends to kinda smell stale, but that's really only an issue for the first wash or so. Once you start washing clothes with soap or detergent it will be alright. So far I have run about 30 loads through the washer and it's performed really well. The spin cycle is incredibly noisy and if you have downstairs neighbors please don't run this at night. The wash cycle itself is fine and not that loud. You can hardly hear it when you close the bathroom door. It seems pretty durable, believe it or not you aren't supposed to get the bottom wet. I'd recommend using a large tote as your laundry hamper and then using it as a washing stand when you do your laundry. Otherwise you'll fry your washer in the tub. Size wise? It can fit in a closet, it's not as big as you think, but not as small as you'd like. I'd say it's about 30 inches tall or so and about the same in width. It gets the job done relatively quickly. This isn't a 1 to 1 replacement for a washer or dryer, and realistically can only do 2 outfits at a time, but if you don't mind that then this is a great pick. ... show more

  • Great for small apartments, but it's smallish
I had a combo washer/spin dryer unit for my small apartment that died on me a few weeks ago & decided to get this to replace it. I did not realize it was somewhat smaller in load size than my prior unit. No major issues so far with this unit, but surprised me it's notably smaller than my prior unit, but no major issue with me. PROS: >>Washes clothes quickly & cleans them well >>Spin dryer works very well >>Operating knobs are contoured & the best easiest to grasp control knobs I have seen on these combo units >>Very quiet operation of washer CONS: >>AC cord too short [3 feet long only] & had to use water/weatherproof 6 foot extension cord >>Inlet water hose too small for bathtub spigot & had to devise a turkey baster to do the job to fill wash tub with water using a bucket >>Spin dryer can get out of balance easily when spin drying clothes, balance load before spin drying please >>No lint filter trap in wash tub This unit works well & does what it's suppose to do. It does get my clothes pretty clean & dries rather well in the unheated spin dryer. 5 stars I rate this item as it works good enough to get the job done quickly. ... show more

  • Full-time nurse loves this! Full-time nurse loves this!
I spent like 4 hours searching for the perfect washer/spinner in Amazon. It had to be under $100. It had to be cute and neat looking. It had to work obviously. I am so glad I went with this. I am a nurse who rarely goes out and spends most of my time at work and at home. So I don't use my outside clothes very much. Just scrub suits and my undies and sleepwear. I'm too tired to go to a laundromat and it's very costly to go there every week. Also, washer/dryer damages my clothes. My girlfriend had somewhat the same washer/spinner in her apartment so I know how it works, especially the technique with the spinner! When this came I'm so glad it's much smaller as I wasn't looking for something huge. I like the color, the simplicity of the design. For the spinner, the technique is to hold down the machine still for the first 10 seconds so it won't rattle, once the spinner gets its rhythm it works perfect from then on. This has a 5 minute spinning duration, I usually turn the knob back to the 5 minute mark before the cycle ends. A continuous 10-15 minute spin dries my scrubs well enough. When the spinner is beginning to slow to a stop, you hold the machine still again or just flip open the top cover to completely stop it so it won't rattle. The washer is perfect, cleans my clothes well, has no rattling issues because the weight of the water keeps the machine still. I don't use the water inlet. I put water via bucket, it's faster and less messy. It does its job. I'm saving gas and quarters going to the laundromat. Plus you're less likely to get skin infections if you have a washer you're not sharing with strangers. It's a bit of work but at least I get to stay at home and not drive outside. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that I haven't tested its durability yet. I hope it gets to at least 2 yrs. My gf's machine still works after 3 yrs but that was a different brand and model. The small table is a recycled computer desk. And now I'm about to go look for a cute laundry basket that would fit underneath. I put pictures of it beside my door so you get an idea how small it is. For my outside clothes, they usually pile up after a month, so I'll do them in the laundromat monthly. I don't want to buy a washer/dryer because its expensive, and I'm renting an apartment and getting rid of it when I move will be a hassle and waste of money. It's all down to what lifestyle you got. This was perfect for me. Thanks Zeny! ... show more

  • Suddenly Died After Six Months, No Response From Company
At first, I was very pleased with this little washer. It's the perfect size for my apartment. I felt like it washed my clothes vigorously, and even though it doesn't completely dry clothes, it did a good job spinning them hard enough to remove enough of the water so I could hang them up overnight to dry them. The hose attachment doesn't fit my sink or tub, but the top is easy enough filled using a bucket. It can get heavy lugging it over the bathtub to prop it up for drainage, though. HOWEVER, spin cycle abruptly stopped working after a mere six months. The dryer went first. My last load of clothes through the dryer was still sopping after several runs through the dryer. When I went to use the washer again, it just didn't spin at all. I tried contacting the company by asking a product question and contacting them with the contact provide on their actual website and have received radio silence. The life length of this product is unacceptable, and I am beyond livid at having to shell out so much cash for a substitute as my clothes sit dirty and now sopping wet since I didn't know the washer was broken until after I filled up a load. I will not be purchasing any further Zeny products. They seem to be of cheap, shoddy quality, and the company will not even back their products up as evidenced by their lack of response to my inquiries. ... show more

  • Grat little washer
Bought while workcamping in small town in the middle of nowhere. Laundromat was far and yucky. This was a game changer. Light weight, fits in shower when traveling and gets clothes clean, even better then at home

  • It's a "figure it out by yourself" product
Most is self explanatory, but also leaves you guessing! Instructions are vague at best (obviously translated) the tub has no fill line, doesn't tell you to only spin out a couple pieces at a time (which I figured out the hard way lol), the "fill hose" doesn't fit on ANY faucet in my house & I was told by the company to "go buy an adapter" it does agitate and spin well with appropriate amount of laundry. But am super irritated that the fill hose doesn't fit and have to do several trips to fill it up twice (for the rinse cycle) customer service was of NO HELP would recommend buying from another brand/company ... show more

  • Blown away by this thing; so glad I purchased!
I was really on the fence about these apartment sized semi-automatic washers, but $100 decided to give it a shot as trips to the laundromat are a hassle and take hours out of my time, and hand washing is insufficient and difficult with some items. When the Zeny arrived last night, the box was smaller than I expected it to be and I thought I should have gone for a larger capacity model. I unpacked it and hoped for the best. This little thing is amazing! It's surprising light for it's size and easy to move from the closet to the bathroom and back for storage. It's simple to use and it really cleans! I set it in my tub so I can drain it right there, and put my removable shower hose inside to fill it, so the inadequate hose that comes with the unit is not an issue for me. The agitation sounds strong, and the water is dirty when done! I washed the equivalent of a load and a half last night (5 pair of women’s jeans, set of queen sheets, socks, panties) split among several loads in the Zeny, while also able to get some work done at home, and I didn't have to schlep to the laundromat in the rain (or fight traffic or look for quarters)! This morning I decided to push it a bit and assess the max capacity. I just washed a regular bath towel, a hand towel, 6 washcloths, 2 pair of fuzzy socks, and a man’s button-down shirt in one load – no problem! I got all but the bath towel and shirt into the spinner in one go. I am absolutely blown away by this thing! In the next load, I washed a regular bath towel, 6 pair of socks, 2 pair of polar fleece leggings, a pair of shorts, and 2 ladies knit shirts. I’m so glad I purchased this thing! Hand washing all of that would have been so much more labour intensive, and I cannot hand wring nearly as much water out of my clothes as the spinner can extract, which cuts air-drying time significantly. I took the advice of another customer and filled with water and detergent and let my delicates soak for 10 minutes before running through a short cycle on the Soft setting and that worked well. As others have mentioned, the agitation really spins your clothes around and they do become tangled, so use lingerie bags for anything you don’t want stretched out (panties, tights, spaghetti straps on tank tops, cotton tops, cotton leggings, etc…). When reading the reviews before buying, there seemed to be some confusion as to whether you can run the spinner at the same time as a washer- yes you can. I’ve been running both sides concurrently for most of my loads. A note on the spinner: One regular sized bath towel maxes out the capacity of the spinner, so I don’t know if a bath sheet would fit (for those who have those larger sized towels). And to the reviewer who said don’t buy, it’s labour, and the rating here are lies: Dude, what did you expect? Did you read the other reviews? Did you understand how this machine functions before you purchased it? And no, the rating are not lies. I’m a legit Amazon customer and this is a verified purchase. I rarely leave reviews, but I was so shocked by how well this thing works I had to share. I can see my weekly time consuming trips to the laundromat cut down to once a month for blankets and bath mats. It's only been a day, but so far this machine is awesome and I don't regret the purchase. ... show more
