Our Electric 4 to 8 Frame Honey Extractor (BEE-V004E) from VIVO is perfect for all levels of beekeeping! The solid extractor body is constructed of 201 Stainless Steel with metal gears. Safety feature built into the lids causes the motor to shut off when either lid is opened and automatically turns back on once they have been closed again. The double-sided top lid is made of clear plastic for easy viewing during honey extraction and is fitted with a magnet to conveniently hold the lid open. The stainless steel has a beautiful polished finish on the outside, and the long legs will easily fit over 5-gallon buckets. Today was honey-spinning day and we used the VIVO extractor for the first time (we formerly used a hand-crank extractor and invested in the VIVO electric). Assembly of the unit was straight-forward and simple to do. The unit was well-packed and came with no damage. The only minor issue was all the holes to attach the cover didn't line up...we got 2 of the 3 screws in each hinge. No big deal and we'll drill the 3rd hole out. We were happy with the overall quality even before using it. We started at a slow speed with each batch of four frames, and increased as the frames emptied. The extractor ran smoothly and quietly. We processed the honey in our kitchen and did not bolt the extractor down. It didn't walk or cause any issue on our floor but we did end up putting a rug under it, just to be on the safe side. One downside if we bolted it down would be that we couldn't tilt it to get all the honey out. So, that's a matter of personal preference. The bottom line is that we couldn't be happier with the product. Money well spent.

So far I've only used this extractor three times, but I've been delighted. Had a few hiccups with the assembly (the hardware bag opened during shipping and I lost a couple of nuts), but Vivo customer service had some new hardware to me in about 3 days. Five stars for customer service! Overall, the motor is quiet and smooth; not as powerful as my neighbors' 10-deep extractor, but it doesn't rattle the house foundations and weigh 100-plus pounds, either. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the Vivo holds 8 mediums, or can process a mix of 8 shallows and mediums if you load it properly. Cleanup is good, assembly is pretty simple, and it's light enough for a middle-aged lady to schlep around, which is such a relief. The honey gate is on the flimsy side and I don't expect it to last long, but that's an easy fix. Also, the instructions are pretty minimal, but there's YouTube a video that helped me with a couple of details. However, I do think a loading diagram would be a helpful addition to the printed instructions. So all in all, I have to give this little wonder five stars. It's such a great value I kind of can't believe my luck - I admit, I'm just waiting for something to break and send my high hopes crashing to earth, because things so sensibly priced just don't work this well in my universe! But hey, I live in hope, and no matter what happens in future, the Vivo sure beat processing almost 80 pounds of spring honey by hand. :-)

I'm impressed. Four days from order to delivery direct for VIVO through Amazon. I found the product well packaged, the assembly instructions clear and the quality as expected. I was a little disappointed in that the extractor drum had a few small dings from the manufacturing process; nothing that would interfere in any way with the function of the unit, just cosmetic out of the box. The unit does require some disassembly for proper cleaning. The drive motor and control assembly must be remove from the drum to properly install the honey gate, and it was on disassembly a minor design flaw was discovered. The power cable goes into the control box too close to the top of the "L" bracket that holds the power assembly to the drum, making it difficult to remove the threaded nut from the L bracket. In addition the control box has a thin metal supporting tab which also fits over the threaded L bracket. This thin metal tab jams against the threaded stud and prevented the removal of the power assembly. A little adjustment using a piece of scrap wood and a hammer, bent the end of the sheet metal control box sufficient to correct the minor design flaw. All the screws and nuts required for assembly where included and other than the interference issue with the control box tab, the overall quality seems to be excellent. I will be constructing a 2x4 wooden bottom stand on to which I can bolt down the legs through the hold provided in the feed, so as to give some additional clearance for a 5 gallon bucket under the honey gate and add some mass at the bottom. As the unit comes a 5 gallon bucket just clears the gate by about 1/2 inch and will not slide under the extractor drum providing little room for any kind of honey filter. The motor runs smooth throughout the entire control range, and the frame basket appears well constructed and easy to clean. The extractor drum will require a through initial cleaning in that some of the dirt and manufacturing lubrication was still on the inside surfaces. Clean water and paper towels were sufficient for the first clean-up. This product is 304 stainless steel and is corrosion resistant not corrosion proof, so avoid any products with strong abrasives, and never use steel wool. This is not my first extractor and I'm pleased with my purchase, and I believe you will be as well.

After reviewing many different extractors, I decided on the Vivo BEE-4000E. I am a small hobbyist with 9 hives, but I wanted an electric extractor without spending a fortune. The reviews on this Vivo model were good and I decided to give it a chance. I’ve only used it once but am very pleased with the performance. The extractor arrived last week. It was well packed, had no damage at all and all the parts were there. Assembly was a breeze taking 15-20 minutes. All you need to do is bolt on the legs and plexiglass tops. The extractor is well built, good quality material and quite sturdy. The basket is heavy and designed well and holds the frames perfectly in place during extraction. The motor is quiet and smooth. The rheostat control smoothly adjusts speeds. There is a small ball bearing that the basket rests on. When cleaning the tank you have to be careful not to lose the bearing as it will fall out of place if you tip the unit over. After assembly and washing out the tank, I harvested 4 medium frames so I could test it out. It worked perfectly. It is easy to load and unload frames. The basket spun smoothly and was well balanced. I had the extractor sitting on the garage floor without bolting it down to anything and there was virtually no vibration and the extractor didn’t tend to “walk” while spinning. A 5-gallon bucket and strainer fits easily under the honey gate, but there isn’t much room left to tip the drum over to drain the last of the honey. You may want to find a way to elevate it a little more to make tipping the tank easier. Cleanup was quick and easy (just don’t forget about the ball bearing). All in all, I am very happy with this extractor and feel it is well worth the investment. Hopefully I’ll continue to feel this way after several more uses next spring.

After just receiving my extractor, I was pleasantly surprised. I noticed that there were no instructions and the 3 fold pamphlet gave directions and also noticed it was from USA.. Big plus in my books.. Not wanting to upset anyone but the review that says he needed more instruction and direction. I can tell he is challenged in his handyman abilities. The longer leg issue had to be he had it on wrong or upside down mine are perfect "I ran a level across it". It took me approx 30 minutes to assemble. ONLY ISSUE I had was one of the tabs that is a safety on the lids did not bend out far enough. I had to put one end in a vice and use pliers to bend it out an 1/8 of an inch.. The material was so good I could hardly move it that much. Yes I have not extracted any honey with it but I feel very sure this piece of equipment will do fine and last me a long time. The lady in her review with the video saying it is quiet she is very correct. I too am very very pleased. After extracting honey this year I will post another review. I doubt very much I will have to eat my words. This extractor is better quality than I expected. Great Job packaging .. and shipping also.... It is now May 21st 2017 I used my extractor yesterday with 5 frames. I bolted mine down to 1" plywood 4X4 in size. It work great.. I am very PLEASED with my purchase and I am sure this machine will be around many years.. VERY PLEASED....

This is a decent machine at a good price. I made several modifications that improved function. First, wrap the spindle cushion assembly (that holds the red star-shaped rubber coupler) with electrical tape... this will prevent uncoupling during vibrations that can occur at the beginning of the process. I do not believe that the taping will interfere greatly with the intended dampening function. Next, purchase and install metric M8 Knurled Clamping Nuts (Amazon B0987XQ8GQ) and/or Threaded Ball Knobs (Amazon B019RATXWY), replacing the nuts securing the top frame... eliminating the need for wrenches when cleaning. I use a 1/2 inch plywood base 4 foot square, or more, with carriage bolts that attach to the three legs using wing nuts. Storage is easy when not in use. When first spinning new frames, there can be vibrations due to imbalances. If this is the case, just use a lower initial spin setting. After the honey spins out of the combs, the vibrations will usually ease. It can help to spin each side twice to eventually allow a faster spin speed. The units legs are placed so lifting one leg allows tilting to better drain contents through the drain hatch. It would be nice to have a braking device, but that would add a major cost. Cleaning is easy with a pressure washer, but it is not a necessity.

I have a good number of hives but don't keep bees full time and couldn't justify purchasing a $1200+ unit for my operation. I decided to give this a go since the price was right and it has the motor. I'd been hand cranking for the last few years and that's absolutely miserable! No, there are no instructions but it wasn't an issue to figure out how to put it together. Once cleaned out and I had frames uncapped the device was quiet and smooth. I started with 4 mediums radially and then after 20-30 minutes I'd add 4 full ones, so 8 frames in the extractor but only 4 full at a time. I'd then pull the first 4 and replace those will full honey frames. I'm sure it could handle 8 full frames but this worked fine for me. For those complaining about it shaking, you do need to mount it to a pallet or directly to your floor. It's also incredibly important to balance your frames. All of mine were completely full and uncapped with a hot knife so they were all level and evenly weighted. With a little care I had no issues with shaking at all. It did arrive with a broken top plexi shield, likely fault to the shipper. I emailed Vivo and they had one to me in just a few days! Great customer service and a great product for the price.

While unpacking I discovered that there were no product owner's or maintenance manuals, or warrantee information in the box. While there was a three fold pamphlet, it only provided crude assembly instructions; and while assembly seemed simple enough, the pamphlet did not include maintenance instructions. For example the pamphlet mentions adjusting the “coupling bolts” if need be. However, there is no information to assist you as to how to determine if the coupling bolts need to be adjusted or how to do that. Similarly, there is a grease bearing at the bottom of the cage axle where it comes into contact with the tub; however, there is no information for a recommended grease type or information on how often or how to apply the grease, nor is there any instruction for dismantling and cleaning the Unit. During assembly, the legs went on easy with no issues (although I have now discovered that one leg is slightly longer than the other two, presumably to aid in the honey’s flow toward the gate valve (information that would have been useful prior to assembly and use so I could have put it in the right spot). That said, my real troubles started when I began the lid assembly. While the pamphlet mentions one safety switch on the “front cover”, my machine has TWO, one on each side. However, only one of the covers had the special cut-out for a metal tab that will activate and deactivate the switch when the lid is opened and closed. I also did not receive any metal tabs, not one, and certainly not two nor did I receive any hardware to fasten the missing metal tabs to the Plexiglas covers, nor were the Plexiglas covers pre-drilled to accept the metal tab fastening hardware. Additionally, the holes that were drilled into the covers for bolting to the hinges..., well they are all over the place and certainly do not line up with the bolt holes on the hinges. They are drilled at angles, not in a straight line, and not at the proper spacing. In fact, I’m pretty sure the person that drilled the holes was either: (a) very new at their job and never held a drill before, or (b) highly intoxicated (my money is on b). In an effort to resolve my concerns, I contacted VIVO and asked that they send me the following: (1) an owner’s manual; (2) two new Plexiglas covers without any holes drilled and (3) two metal safety tabs and the appropriate mounting hardware. VIVO was prompt in its response to me and very courteous, but not able to fulfill my requests. They are sending me two new covers and associated hardware. However, they have informed me that they do not have an owner’s manual or any printed literature with warranty information. Seriously? The Unit itself seems to work fine. However, I am surprised by the cost vs quality of the machine, (it only okay quality, but expensive for what you get). It appears that the cost is driven primarily by the specialized application of the Unit vs the quality of its components.
