  • Very Good with Modifications
Size: 8 Frame Rack
This is a decent machine at a good price. I made several modifications that improved function. First, wrap the spindle cushion assembly (that holds the red star-shaped rubber coupler) with electrical tape... this will prevent uncoupling during vibrations that can occur at the beginning of the process. I do not believe that the taping will interfere greatly with the intended dampening function. Next, purchase and install metric M8 Knurled Clamping Nuts (Amazon B0987XQ8GQ) and/or Threaded Ball Knobs (Amazon B019RATXWY), replacing the nuts securing the top frame... eliminating the need for wrenches when cleaning. I use a 1/2 inch plywood base 4 foot square, or more, with carriage bolts that attach to the three legs using wing nuts. Storage is easy when not in use. When first spinning new frames, there can be vibrations due to imbalances. If this is the case, just use a lower initial spin setting. After the honey spins out of the combs, the vibrations will usually ease. It can help to spin each side twice to eventually allow a faster spin speed. The units legs are placed so lifting one leg allows tilting to better drain contents through the drain hatch. It would be nice to have a braking device, but that would add a major cost. Cleaning is easy with a pressure washer, but it is not a necessity. ... show more

  • What I expected
Size: 8 Frame Rack
Let's just say that I wanted to get a motorized extractor without breaking the bank (too much). I knew when I bought this that it was not top of the line, but it does the job and is what I expected. The extractor is decent enough for a small hobbyist. As I said, it gets the job done and I don't have to manually extract it. The legs are a little flimsy with them raised to highest height, but I knew that from other reviews. It fits a 5 gallon bucket underneath the honey gate with it raised to this height, which is what I wanted. It will hold 8 medium or shallow frames, or 4 deep frames. Probably not recommended, but I was able to fit 10 medium frames in it without trouble. My extractor was shipped in good shape. The outside box did have some damage on one corner, but the internal packaging protected the extractor well and there was no visible damage. Upon inspection of the packaging list, it was missing the nuts. Not a huge deal as I could have gotten them from the hardware store cheap enough, but I did email the company. They responded immediately (on the weekend) and without any hassles, they shipped the missing nuts, and I had them in less than a week. At this time, I don't know the longevity of the motor and structure. Only time will tell. I have used it twice this year, so far, without any issues. I would recommend the extractor to a hobbyist who wants the luxury of a motorized extractor that holds 8 frames, but does not want to spend upwards of $1000. ... show more

  • Super quiet and efficient
Size: 8 Frame Rack
This unit is super quiet! It has enabled us to increase our output tremendously over our old crank unit. (Although I do miss the arm workout!). The only thing that we have found to be an issue is that the valve is a little too high and makes it difficult to get out the last of the honey.

  • Works Well
Size: 3 Frame Rack
Worked like described. We put 3 full deep frames and it worked very well in a short time, like it emptied the honey in about 5-7 minutes spin time. You definitely have to secure it to something, so that it doesn't tip. Decent for the price.

  • Works fine but wobbles
Size: 8 Frame Rack
It was easy to put together and easy to run but it’s not balanced very well and the opening isn’t quite big enough to get medium frames in without dragging them on the sides. Should have built it 1” bigger in diameter. The biggest problem is the wobble from being unbalanced.

  • Quiet and does the job
Size: 8 Frame Rack
The extractor itself is well-made, leg supports could be better, but adequate, quiet operation have used it three times to extract honey so far it has done a great job!

  • Spout too far from the bottom
Size: 8 Frame Rack
Overall, the extractor does its job reasonably well, but it falls short in a few key areas. The spinning mechanism works smoothly, and it effectively separates honey from the honeycomb, leaving behind pristine frames. The main issue lies in the positioning of the spout, which is too far from the bottom of the extractor. As a result, extracting honey requires excessive tilting of the extractor to access the honey at the bottom. I have also been using a long rubber spatula to push the honey towards the spout, which can be a messy and time-consuming. It is disappointing to see such a fundamental flaw in an otherwise functional product. The cleanup process after extracting honey is a whole other challenge. The wire frames that hold the honeycombs in place make it difficult to access every nook and cranny of the extractor. My hand does not fit between these wire frames, making thorough cleaning very difficult. ... show more
