I have been keeping bees since 2020 and one important thing to keep in mind for the survival of the hive during winter is warmth. The bees don't warm the whole inside of the hive but concentrate on warming the cluster, so keeping the wind off of the hive will greatly help with heat loss. This product will prevent wind from sapping out the heat but will allow it to breath to keep the condensation down. I run 10 frame hives with deep brood boxes and this product fit easily on my hive and was easy to secure with the Velcro and the buckles. Even though this is a very good product, I would like it to be a little longer to cover the seam between the bottom board and the quilt box. This product will cover from the bottom to the top of the brood boxes and nothing more.

As a backyard beekeeper overwintering 10-frame hives in my garden, I use this 600D Oxford insulation wrap to protect my colonies from cold snaps. The waterproof, windproof design with aluminum foil lining helps retain warmth, keeping internal hive temperatures stable around 45°F when external temps drop to 30°F—supporting cluster health without added energy loss. The 79" x 18" wrap fits snugly around my 8-frame hive using hook-and-loop fasteners, and its lightweight build (2 lbs) makes installation quick without disturbing the bees. The thick Oxford fabric repels rain effectively, and the windproof construction holds firm in gusts. It’s reusable and aligns with my eco-friendly, non-toxic beekeeping preferences. Drawbacks: The wrap had a slight chemical odor that faded after airing, and the fit was loose on my 10-frame hive without extra cinching. While it offers solid thermal protection, it’s not as insulating as foam board setups. Overall, this wrap is a practical choice for winter hive protection. I’d recommend it for beekeepers seeking a reusable, low-maintenance solution—especially if working with 8-frame setups or mild winters.

This is a 3-layer insulated beehive wrap. It is waterproof and windproof. It is made for an 8-10 frame hive. We are just getting started on our beekeeping journey, so have not used it yet. I am strictly reviewing the quality and make from what I can tell. It is a thick insulation. It has adjustable straps and wraps around the hive for a secure fit. It is made to be reusable rather than having to make new insulation each season. I will update this review after the winter.

Excellent quality materials are used in this hive wrap. The windproof and waterproof outer fabric is nice and strong. The inner foil lining ensures top notch insulation while covering the in-between layer of cotton. The very best part of this wrap, though, is it's adjustability. The velcro allows for the perfect fit, and then, the two buckle locks hold everything nice and tight once the straps are adjusted. Our bees are sure to survive the harshest cold snaps. And with the varying temps here in the South, we can easily remove the wrap as needed.

I'm pretty familiar with various bee hive insulation wraps. It seems a good value for the price, it's easy to use, and it matches the product description. It is good quality, and while I only had the option for the 79x18, it's still going to help over the cold Winters here. I'll update once it's on the beehive, as well as how it turns out once the frost ends next Spring.
