This evaporative water tower fan has been pretty great. You will need to put the base on which does require a little assembly, but it’s quick and easy and no tools are required. I had this set up in about 2 minutes. The base comes in two halves that snap together by lining up some round holes and pegs. Once those are lined up just apply some pressure to snap the two sides all the way flush. I did need to apply a little pressure to snap everything flush but it’s not really that hard. I have neuropathy and arthritis in my hands and I was able to manage it. At the underside of the fan you’ll unscrew the center plastic disc then line up the base onto it. Screw the disc back on to secure the base and you’re all set. This comes with 4 small pre-filled reusable plastic ice packs that have a special solution that doesn’t require any water to be added. They measure about 3”x3”. Mine were packed inside the back water tank/reservoir. They are ready to be placed into your freezer. The first time will take between 5-6 hours for them to be frozen solid and about 3 hours thereafter. This fan can be used with or without water and the ice packs but if you use the extra cooling function (the snowflake icon/button) you MUST have water inside the water tank in the back. When using the extra cooling function I found that it helps to fill it with cold water that I keep in the refrigerator rather than just cold water from my tap. The first time I used the extra cooling feature I put 2 ice packs into the water tank and then filled it to the max fill line with cold water. The water tank has maximum and minimum water level markers. I find that with 2 of the ice packs I can fit about 2 cups of water to reach the maximum water level. There is a handy clear window in the front of the fan to monitor the water level as well but when the water tank is at max level, the water level at the front window will show about half full. Once the fan had been running for about 5 hours I switched out the ice packs with 2 that were still in the freezer and needed to refill the water. I just keep rotating the ice packs two at a time from the freezer to the tank and vice versa every 5 hours. This can also be used with ice cubes along with or in place of the included ice packs. I later found this to work even better with two of the ice packs, 2-3 cubes of ice and then cold water from the fridge. I found doing that brought the room temp down about 3° cooler. That may not seem like a lot but it makes a difference I can feel. I also run a dehumidifier as we have high humidity and this fan with the evaporative cooling feature used can raise your humidity. We use the dehumidifier regardless as that is a constant battle to keep at ideal levels where we live. This fan has 3 speeds, an oscillating function and also a timer that can be set from 1-7 hours. All functions can be set from the top of the fan or from the included remote. Batteries are included for the remote (one already installed) and what’s super cool is that they give you 2 EXTRA batteries. Kudos for that! The remote takes a CR2025 button battery which is easy to find on Amazon when it’s time to replace it and they’re not expensive at all. To set the timer: Manually from the fans top buttons press the timer button. You’ll see to the left of that button is printed, “1h, 2h and 4h” which all have a small red illuminated light to indicate that number as you press the timer button. •One press is for 1 hour which will illuminate a small red light next to the “1h”. •Two presses is for 2 hours which illuminates the “2h”. •Three presses will illuminate the 1h and 2h lights to set a 3 hour timer. •Subsequent presses will cycle through the “4h” light illuminating for a 4 hour timer, another press illuminates the “4h” and “1h” to set a 5 hour timer, another press illuminates the “4h” and “2h” to set a 6 hour timer and lastly another press will illuminate the “4h”, “2h” and “1h” to set a 7 hour timer. It’s actually easy to do even though it may not seem like it while reading this. The remote has little clock pictures with a minus and plus symbol and those are used in the same manor to set the timer up or down from 1-7 hours. While this doesn’t function like an actual air conditioner, it does blow out cooler air when used with the water and ice packs than just a regular fan does. Consider it a glorified fan but it’s best for smaller spaces. I use it in my office during the day and in my bedroom at night. I didn’t find it to be all that effective in my living area as it’s a large open space that includes my dining room and kitchen but in the smaller spaces of my home this has been nice to have. It’s just enough to take the edge off. It’s slim and doesn’t take up much space which is another plus and it’s quite quiet on low speed and a little quieter on high speed compared to my regular fan this is replacing when I have it on the high setting. I also haven’t noticed a difference in my electric bill over using my regular fan so I’m thankful for that. I really like this fan. As long as you’re aware that it’s not going to function like a regular air conditioner and that it’s best for smaller spaces I feel you’ll also be happy with it. It’s what I expected and worth the extra time to deal with the ice packs and water in my opinion. It definitely uses less electricity than regular air conditioners and whole home cooling systems. I just set this on the 5 hour timer so I don’t worry about the water running too low and keep sunny windows covered well which I also suggest doing for best results. The one thing I wish were different is the electric cord. I wish it was 12”-18” longer. It’s about 4.5’ long so not as ideal as I wished but I’ve made it work. Still giving 5/5 stars although if I could I’d dock half a star for the shorter cord. Oh! Also, there is a handy instruction pamphlet that has nice diagrams and easy to understand instructions. You’ll want to read through it for cleaning and maintenance instructions to keep this running as nicely and as long as possible. I’d buy this again. It’s priced fairly in my opinion for what it is and the features it has.

This cooling fan is probably best suited for dry and arid climates, not the Pacific Northwest where we live. We're using this cooling fan as simply a fan because we're concerned about increasing the indoor humidity. We've had problems with humidity in the past, due to both crawlspace moisture and attic moisture (leaking roof), so we're a bit paranoid about anything that increases indoor moisture. This type of cooling fan, that passes air through cold water, is usually most effective when humidity levels are under 50 percent because increased humidity tends to negate the effectiveness of adding more humidity. The EPA recommends keeping the indoor humidity between 30 to 50 percent, and keeping humidity under 60 percent can prevent mold growth. So this type of cooling fan would be most effective in dry summer months or in dry climates. Right now, our indoor humidity is 39 percent, which means we could use the cooling feature of this fan, which we have tried and it does feel great. However, during longer periods of using the cooling fan, indoor humidity here can easily rise above 50 percent. To reduce high humidity rates, it is recommended to keep both windows and doors open for maximum air circulation. Buit this actually defeats our efforts to keep the house cool; if it is hot outside, we do not want the heat to come inside through open windows and doors. Yet this is how a cooling fan works most effectively, by turning hot dry air into cool moist air. So, to really appreciate the cooling effect of this fan, we would want to plant ourselves in front of it while allowing the rest of the house to heat up due to open doors and windows. Well, that's just not practical for us during the day time, but it might work well at night next to the bed. For the most part, we are using the fan without the cooling feature. The fan has three speeds, and on the highest speed, I can easily feel a nice breeze at 10 feet away. I'm kinda curious how they get that much air flow in such a skinny pillar of a fan. The fan is quieter than our other traditional fans, but it does produce a rather quiet high-pitched hum. So, even though it is relatively quiet, the high pitch even while not being loud, is still noticeable. The sound is nothing that really bothers us, although we all agree that we'd be more cool with a low-pitched hum (pun intended). Turning on the oscillating feature does not add any new sounds or noise to the fan. The remote is a really nice bonus, because none of our other fans have remote controls. Were it not for the faint high pitch, we'd have easily given this cooling fan five stars, based solely on its operation as an oscillating fan.

I love this tower. Super nice with the remote. Comes with 4 little ice packs for cooling which is nice. I am using it in probably too big of a room plus I can't close my bedroom door (I have a cat who dislikes closed doors) so I'm not sure how much it cools BUT I can tell the difference to when I have the ice pack and water in it for cool and when it's just the fan. The fan has 3 speeds and the highest one gives a great breeze. So far working well, cooling well, and no real issues. The only thing: The 70° auto-oscillation helps circulate air throughout your space. This works BUT I get a noise when it swings a certain way, I thought I had it fixed but then it started another way. The noise is annoying so I don't have it swing for now. I really think it's what I have it on more then anything so will look into that. Nice value for it, I don't think it's too bad for what you get.

It is notoriously difficult to cool our upstairs bedrooms during the summer months, so I was excited to test out this floor-size evaporative tower cooling fan. While it ultimately lacks the refrigeration power needed to drop the ambient temperature of an entire hot room, we found that it actually works quite well when used strategically for nighttime comfort. The tower fan comes equipped with a 1200mL water tank, four ice crystal gel packs, three wind modes, three speed settings, 70-degree auto-oscillation, and a handy remote. To get the most out of it, you do need to build a routine: you have to remember to pull the gel packs out each morning and toss them back into the freezer so they are chilled and ready for bedtime. However, those ice packs make a genuine difference. The air blown out across the water tank feels noticeably cooler, effectively lowering the air temperature in the immediate vicinity. We set the unit up on the floor right next to our bed, positioning it so the breeze blows across the bottom of the bed. Even though it is not blowing directly on us, it cools the surrounding air by several degrees, creating a much more comfortable sleeping environment. Having the 7-hour timer and remote control makes it very easy to set up at night and forget about it while we sleep. The main limitation remains the overall cooling capacity. While adding icy water and gel packs produces a pleasantly chilled breeze right in front of the unit, it simply does not have the power of an actual air conditioner to bring down the overall temperature of the entire bedroom during peak summer heat. If you view this as a personal floor-standing air circulator that provides targeted, refreshing relief with the help of ice packs, it performs its job well and adds a lot of comfort. Just keep in mind that it is best suited for close-range use rather than trying to cool down an entire room. This tower cooling fan has been a great solution for adding extra comfort without needing a window or complicated installation. The compact design makes it easy to place in a bedroom, office, or small room, and the 1200ML water tank provides a nice amount of cooling time before needing a refill. I love that it combines a fan and evaporative cooling in one unit. The cool mist helps make the air feel more comfortable during hot days, and the tower design doesn’t take up much space. Simple 2-step assembly with a much smaller footprint than a box fan. Multiple fan speeds that are all relatively quiet, even on the fastest setting, along with fixed or oscillating modes and timer functions. It can be fully controlled with the touch panel on top of the unit or with the included remote. Two extra remote batteries were all also included. My only (minor) complaint is that there’s no slot or other method to store the remote on the unit when not in use. The humidity has been high in my area this summer so we haven’t tried the cooling function yet, but it works great as a regular fan.

So far this is working great which is awesome since we are in a heat wave this week. At the heat of the day the sun shines right in my son’s room. This fan comes with ice pack but the air still gets pretty cool with just the water. The remote is an added bonus. I like that you can switch from a regular fan to the evaporator. The air it pushes out is pretty good as well. I’m really pleased with this purchase.
