I bought this thinking it was a real portable air conditioner, but it’s actually just an evaporative cooler that uses water to blow cooler air. There’s no compressor, no BTU rating, and it doesn’t lower the room temperature like a true AC unit would. It only makes the air feel a little cooler if you sit close to it, and in humid weather it barely works at all—in fact, it just makes the room feel damp. The listing makes it sound like an air conditioner, but it’s really more of a fancy fan with a water tank. This device does not work well. It is very flimsy, and the ice bricks only last 1-2 hours. A bag of ice in front of a fan would work as well. I have no idea how it rated five stars. It did not cool a 20 by 15 room at all. I had to direct the cooled, not cold, air directly at me with a room fan blowing simultaneously to achieve any relief from the heat. No idea how this has good reviews. I followed the instructions, the air felt cool, I left the room for 10 minutes, when my husband went in there, he said there was water all over the floor. There was no hole in anything. I think the hose was spraying so hard it just splashed everywhere. I had to send it back because there’s no way I can use this on wood floors. ... show more
