Let’s just call it “overly affectionate.” It loved my furniture a little too much, fading my favorite armchair faster than my enthusiasm for New Year’s resolutions. So, I took a chance on this daytime one-way privacy film. And wow. Just… wow. As a skeptical person, I thought this would only be a trial on the front door, but ended up doing the whole house! All together it cost only $300. Definitely a huge money saver! First off—privacy. During the day, it’s like my windows put on sunglasses and decided to be cool secret agents. From the outside, it’s reflective like a mirror. I can lounge, dance, or have deep philosophical conversations with my cat—all incognito. At night, sure, the effect reverses when the lights are on. But hey, that’s what curtains are for. Or, if you’re like me, it’s a great excuse to finally light those decorative candles and pretend you’re in a moody indie film. Now, the heat reduction. Holy iced tea, Batman. My west-facing window used to pump so much heat into my apartment, I half-expected to see a mirage of a camel strolling by. After applying this film? The room went from “surface of the sun” to “pleasant spring morning.” I’m not saying my AC unit is now collecting dust, but let’s just say it’s enjoying a well-deserved vacation. My last electricity bill even did a little happy dance on its way down. I’m genuinely considering doing every window just to see if the power company starts sending me concerned letters. Installation—ah, the part where I expected tears, frustration, and possibly a broken window. But surprise! It was… fine. More than fine. Here’s my unsolicited, slightly overconfident advice: 1.Clean that glass like your mother-in-law is coming over. Seriously. I wiped my window three times, sprayed it with Windex until it was slicker than a politician’s handshake, and then wiped it again. Every piece of dust will be haunting you later. 2.Peel, spray, stick. The static cling is genius. No glue, no mess, no permanent commitment—just like my last dating profile. Spray the static side with soapy water (1/4 tsp soap in 1 qt water as subscribed) generously, so much it looks like a waterfall, slap it on the wet window, and prepare to feel like a DIY god. If you had enough water like instructed, the film should be easily sliding and getting into position. 3.Squeegee like you mean it. Start from the middle and push those bubbles out like they’re last year’s regrets. Gentle pressure, smooth strokes. If a few tiny bubbles remain, don’t panic. They usually vanish in a day or two. Or, if you’re a perfectionist like me, you can gently coax them out with a soft cloth-wrapped squeegee. 4.Trim the edges with the focus of a sushi chef. Go slow. Use a metal ruler or something straight as a guide. I may have held my breath during this part. But guess what? No disasters. Just crisp, clean edges. Yes, the room is a tad dimmer now. But it’s not “dungeon chic”—it’s more like a soft, overcast day. The light is gentle, easy on the eyes, and honestly kind of cozy. My plants don’t seem to mind, and my cat definitely appreciates the new nap-friendly ambiance. A couple of things to note: - his film is thick. Quality thick. Not “cheap vinyl from a back-alley car shop” - No sticky mess, no residue. Zero. Nada. If you’re renting, this is your new best friend. Overall, this film delivered exactly what it promised: privacy, heat reduction, and a solid sense of accomplishment. It’s affordable, effective, and honestly kind of fun to install. If you’re on the fence, jump off and buy it. Your windows—and your electric bill—will thank you. Final rating: Five starts. Would definitely film again (maybe for my mother in law’s house for Christmas).

I received the Savvy Choice Non-Adhesive Stained Glass Window Film (Leaf Rainbow, 17.5 x 114 inch) through the Amazon Vine program, and it’s been a beautiful and functional addition to my home. This vinyl static cling film, featuring a leafy rainbow design, creates a mesmerizing prism effect when sunlight passes through, casting vibrant colors across my living room. The non-adhesive application was simple—using water and the included tools (stored in the paper tube), I applied it smoothly with no bubbles, and it’s removable and reusable without leaving residue, perfect for renters. It offers a solid privacy level, letting in soft light while obscuring views from a distance, though it’s not ideal for full bathroom privacy. The film blocks 96% of UV rays, protecting my furniture from fading and reducing glare, while also cutting energy costs by rejecting 50-90% of solar heat. I ordered 2 rolls of this to fit my large bathroom window. You can still see through it so if you’re looking for 100% privacy, this isn’t it. In my case the big picture window faces my side yard and a fence so I’m not worried about anything back there and didn’t need extra privacy. Each roll includes the window film, a box cutter, a little squeegee, and a spray bottle - everything you need to install this. It also contains very well written directions that are clear and easy to follow with good graphics. I used my own squeegee and spray bottle, but these seem to be perfectly good tools. The pattern is REALLY pretty and the reason I picked this one. I installed it on a big picture window which required matching up 2.5 columns of film. The pattern doesn’t quite match up from edge to edge, but it’s close enough that I don’t think it’s too noticeable. I had hoped it would match up a little better, but it’s OK. Since the design is a vine, the organic nature of it helps to obscure the seam. One thing that’s not mentioned in the listing is that this is not recommended for textured glass. Unfortunately, I have textured glass on this window. I went ahead and installed it anyway. Initially it stuck OK, but it started falling after a few hours. I tried double stick tape, which did not work at all. I finally used some museum gel and that seemed to hold it down without being entirely noticeable. Since this is in my master bathroom and on the far side of the tub, no one is really going to be that close to it to see the gel. Although I love this and it’s exactly what I wanted, I didn’t realize that textured glass and window film don’t play well together. Installation is not hard, but smaller windows would definitely be easier. You clean the window really well, cut your piece a little larger than the window, peel off the backing, spray the window with soapy water, and then apply the vinyl. It takes some maneuvering to get it exactly right and straight. When you’re done, use the box cutter to cut the excess off so you have nice clean edges. It helps if you’re crafty but this isn’t required. I did the entire window by myself. I’m really happy with how it turned out and it’s exactly what I wanted for that big window. I have leftover from my 2 rolls and am going to apply it to other windows too.

Film pattern is very pretty, and colors look great with the sunlight. Film doesn't have any adhesive on it but sticks well to a smooth surface. The kit it comes with is very complete, and includes a utility knife, a small squeegee and a small spray bottle.
