I live in Arizona. It's already been 110 degrees. We're currently in monsoon here so inside the house can run 92F with about 50 percent humidity if it's rained. Swamp coolers are worthless this time of year. Sleeping at night had been horrible with taking cold showers in the middle of the night providing the only temporary relief. The landlord doesn't want unsightly holes in walls of her 1938 adobe house so mini splits were out. There's security wrought iron on the windows. So I thought a window AC unit was not a possibility. The Windmill Lite Window AC unit's measurements were just enough to touch the security bars. Instructions were easy. I've never had AC in the home just swamp coolers. This window unit from Windmill has been running since July. The AC unit itself has WiFi so I can set the temp from my phone. A great setting in the app is Night Mode, because my wife hates any light when she's trying to sleep. The AC blows cold. And it's not loud. I installed it in the bedroom window. No more sweaty nights. It just works great. Literally saved my summer.

This AC is not as quiet as advertised. I have a Midea 10,000btu in another room and it barely makes a sound. This Windmill is compact and easy to install. Its Eco setting cuts down on the noise and energy. For the price, it's OK. I have to purchase another 5000btu AC for another room. Not sure if I would buy this Windmill again.

This is a very attractive-looking air conditioner, but looks aren't everything. If you're considering it for a room around 250 square feet, be aware that it simply doesn't have enough cooling power. Despite the advertised coverage, I found it struggled to cool the space effectively. For a room that size, I'd recommend at least a 6,000–8,000 BTU unit—and I'd lean closer to 8,000 BTU. The noise was another major disappointment. Between the constant fan noise and an annoying buzzing sound, it's not something I'd want running while trying to sleep. In fact, it's noticeably louder than my 20-year-old window AC in the living room. This is Windmill's "Lite" series, so it feels like some compromises were made to hit the lower price point. Unfortunately, those trade-offs affected both performance and comfort. I'm returning this unit, but I'm not giving up on Windmill just yet. I'm going to give the Original series a try and hope it delivers a much better experience. Fingers crossed.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for my small space, and it looks modern too. I’ve been using the Windmill 5K BTU in my studio apartment for about a week now and it’s honestly been such a great addition. I was worried it might not be powerful enough since it’s a smaller unit, but it cools my room super quickly. The setup was really easy, everything you need comes in the box, and I had it up and running by myself in under an hour. I also love how it looks. Most window ACs are bulky and kind of ugly, but this one actually blends in with my space and doesn’t stick out like an eyesore. One of my favorite features is the app. I like being able to adjust the temperature while I’m out, so I can come home to a nice, cool room. The lights on the unit also auto-dim at night, which is a nice touch when I’m trying to sleep. If you’re looking for a small, quiet, and modern-looking AC that actually works really well, I’d totally recommend this one.

The air conditioner showed up without the accessory pack. We went crazy looking for the accessory pack, which it swore was in the box. NOPE, they're OUT of the accessory kit completely, but you won't know unless you send the company an angry message. The unit is LOUD, too. Choose any other air conditioner. Windmill doesn't care about your business or sending a full product kit.

The smaller sibling to the Wirecutter winner big brother. Summary list: PROS: Price, size, light weight, easy to install / remove, remote CONS: VERY loud compressor, filter rattles This unit is great for rooms needing seasonal cooling. It was fairly easy to set up and very light weight, making it a snap to install. Went with the 6000 BTU as it would be slightly more powerful to cool a bedroom quicker - which works well in current space use. The main drawback is how loud this product is when running. Installed two units, and both have the same issue. The compressor is much louder than other older LG 8000 BTU units I have used. In addition, the removable air filter rattles in both units as well. Pushing against the exterior or removing the filter, and the rattling goes away. This can be a distraction for those that are light sleepers. A nice unit for the price but not for those that prefer a quieter AC unit
