Wilton Shop Vises have heavy-duty castings with a 30,000 PSI gray cast iron body built for rugged use and extended life. Each vise has the capability of handling pipe as well as mounting to a bench with four mounting posts, providing more stability and a secure hold. From the Manufacturer Durability and versatility are two qualities not usually found in conventional shop vises. So the engineers at Wilton wisely parted with convention when they designed the innovative WS5 swiveling vise. Constructed of heavy-duty, 25,000 PSI casting for optimal strength and durability, this workhorse outmuscles the toughest projects. Highly versatile, the tool rotates 360 degrees for a wide variety of burly clamping applications. The tool is equipped with replaceable top jaws and built in pipe jaws so you won't be tossing a perfectly good vise when these parts begin to wear later on down the road. The tool also features rubber pinch point safety guards that protect the material from denting and marring for a finer outcome, every time. • Strong build
This thing gave my workbench I touch of class. Is solid as a rock I definitely would recommend

  • Not The Greatest. But Still Good.
I bought this rather nice bench vise to top off the new workbench I built in my new garage. It arrived greased like a hog and wrapped in plastic. This was for rust protection as the iron rusts extremely easy, especially when shipped over seas as this was. After I cleaned all the grease off with mineral spirits. I spun the handle and realized that its crank wasn't greased at all as it is a different metal and didn't need the rust protection. This is ok, but as I said I removed all the grease from the rest of the unit now it was all in my rag. So I didn't have any grease left and the vise makes a loud vibrating sound. A sound that doesn't sound like it should becoming from this seemingly well machined tool. Im sure the grease will help though. Make sure you rub this baby down with some fresh motor oil after cleaning it up. I had this thing in my garage for 3 days and it already had a fine rust on the whole thing just from humidity in the air (this was winter time too). And the rubber pinch guards are cracked and ready to fall off. So, don't make the mistakes I did with this simple tool and you should be fine. I gave it a 4 because its not the best vise around but a good value and it works. -1 because its pinch guards are cracking off, the handles chrome plating is flaking off, and the screw shaft could have been machined better. ... show more

  • Nice vice, with a few qualifications
I would echo what most of the previous reviewers have noted regarding this vise. It came in a timely manner from Amazon with free shipping, which was a plus. Better quality than comparable vises at Harbor Freight, Lowes or Home Depot. It does come covered in heavy grease, so plan on spending some time cleaning it up before use. I waxed down all of the machined surfaces as it's apparent they'll rust easily if you don't protect them. The vise jaw inserts were really torqued down, so much so that I thought I would have to drill out one of the Phillips head screws. I suggest you remove these screws early on and coat them with an anti-seize compound or else you may have a tough time doing so in the future. Otherwise, I'm happy with the quality for the price. Update 8/25/16: Still going strong, no problems. Have been using it on a regular basis for the almost 7 years. Update 9/30/20: Still no problems, still very happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Happy Customer
Initially I ordered the 6 inch Dewalt heavy-duty and ended up returning it because the quality and craftsmanship of this vise was second-hand. When I decided to go with the 5 inch Wilton, although more expensive than the Dewalt, you can clearly see it's due to the high-quality product, to include warranty and detailed instructions for installation. I've used and seen may different kinds of vises for metal and wood work, the Wilton brand is definitely good quality at a reasonable price - which will last you forever! ... show more

  • bench vise review
I actually purchased this vise about three years ago. I bolted it to my home garage work table. I use it for light duty chores (working on my jeep, home maintenance, etc.) I do occasionally beat on a vise, and I over-worked a previous cheaper vise I had for maybe fifteen years. I looked around town at home depot, lowes, sears, etc. I didn't find what I was looking for so I took a chance with amazon. It hardly matters, but it happens to be a "good-looking" vise. It isn't flimsy or cheap looking. The swivel works smoothly, the swivel locks down without unnecessary torque on two separate arms. I guess there is another, higher price level for bench vises, but this has been a perfectly fine product for my use and I would recommend it. ... show more

  • Just installed
I just installed it but it seems like a solid vice. Seems to be everything I need. The perfect size for my bench. I'm glad i didn't' go any smaller. Sure it would be nice to have a made in the USA Wilton but my needs don't require a $500 vice. This one should last me quite a while.
